I was prescribed Cryselle after taking the depo shot and suffering heavy bleeding for four continuous months. Cryselle has been fantastic for me. My period lasts no more than four days. As for the side effects, all birth control has side effects but Cryselle was the best for me.

I've been on cryselle for 8 months, after switching from tri-sprintec because it stopped working. I've gained over 10 lbs, I feel bloated all the time, and I have random, painful cramps throughout the month. My periods are worse than they've ever been, and the mood swings and depression are miserable. My skin stayed clear for the first few months, but I've started breaking out on the face and shoulders. Throw in the completely non-existant sex drive, and I've been a real joy to be around. I never had issues like this with other birth control, and I've never had problems with depression before. I'm glad I found these reviews, because between the spotting, cramping and constant fatigue, I was worried something was really wrong (despite the fact that paps and so forth all came back clear). The sooner I can get a new Rx, the better.Read More Read Less

I've been on cryselle 28 for about 9 months now. I started it because of unusual periods. The pills worked great for that reason. I have my period on time for a short amount of time and is pretty regular. I have noticed 2 side effects so far. Moods swings and acne that hurts. My chin has not cleared up in months! The mood swings are horrible too. I will be calling the dr. Soon.

I've been on cryselle for a little over 3 years now. I got on birth control for exactly what it's suppose to do. When I first began I literally had NO side effects. I actually lost 15 pounds when I first got on the pill, but that was because I began exercising and eating better. Now, 3 years in, I'm starting to get some of the nasty side effects. I haven't gained the weight back but thats because I'm still going to the gym and what not, but I will say my appetite has changed, you just need to learn how to control that. My mood swings are completely unbearable. My relationship is absolutely horrible because of them. I get annoyed just hearing someone breath. Unless I figure a way to deal with the mood swings I will probably be switching bc because theres really no point in taking it if I don't even have a relationship, which the mood swings are pushing us close to an end. Aside from the mood swings, my face still stays clear aside from the 1-3 pimples I get a few days before my period, but that's kinda how I was before the bc. I also have no issues with my period still. I still get it on a Tuesday or Wednesday and it still only lasts about 5 days, and it's almost always light as anything. If you're looking for a bc to try, give it a shot, everyones different. I got about a good 2-2.5 years of cryselle without any bad side effects. Maybe it's just time to switch it up.Read More Read Less

Im always surprised that some people have such a horrible experience with this birth control- it goes to show you that every body is different . I love Cryselle. No acne, no weight gain, no mood disorders. Made my period lighter and shorter. Only downfall for me is that I get nauseous when I start a new pack for the first few days but I get nauseous easily.

I took this pill for 2.5 weeks and experienced terrible side effects. One of the worst side effects I developed was skin discoloration on my face! It is so embarrassing, especially because it is very noticeable. I had never had this problem before. I also had trouble sleeping, acne (no prior acne before this bc) and found myself to be aggravated easily. I didn't experience a change in my weight or sex drive. I hope no one experiences these side effects. I changed to a new bc immediately.

I was very hesitant to go on birth control because I thought that I would gain tons of weight and I have also read all the horror stories. With this drug, however, I gained maybe 3 lbs (but I attribute that to it being my freshman year of college). The only real changes that I saw were that I was more emotional than normal the first 2-3 months, I had a little bit of acne at first, and that my breasts grew a little larger. Overall, this medication has done good things for me overall in that it has regulated my very unregular period and that it obviously protects from unwanted pregnancies. The only word of caution that I have to give to you is to make sure to TAKE IT AT THE SAME TIME EVERYDAY. It's amazing how many friends that I have who didn't know that they were supposed to take their BC pills at the same time everyday. Good luck!Read More Read Less

At first it was torture being on it, i was crying all the time and felt like everythihng was falling apart when it wasn't, I almost quit taking it after 2 weeks but i decided to see if it got better after my body got used to it and it did and i didn't feel like i gained much weight and my skin stayed clear FOR ME but i still don't feel like myself and i am moody and have weird thoughts of breaking up with my boyfriend who is so good to me and is perfect, i cant stand it! i am so over taking birth control pills they make me a different person! changing to copper IUD soon as possible! the way i feel on cryselle or on any birth control isn't worth it!Read More Read Less

This is the first BC I have ever taken and it was an awful experience I have now been taking the pill for 10 months and this is finally my last. Before the pill I never had cramps, pms, or bloating, and now I have them all. The week before I get my period I cry over anything and that is soooo unlike me. The first few days my period is ridiculously heavy and I'm in awful pain from cramps. I usually have to put icy-hot on my lower stomach and back. It still lasts about a week. I went up a pant and bra size cause ONLY my butt and boobs grew (kinda okay with this lol) My sex drive is nonexistent and the hormones are making my depression and anxiety unbearable. I do not recommend. Starting tri-legest fe next month hoping for a much more pleasant time of the month lolRead More Read Less

I started this medication when I was about ten years old. When I first started my menstrual cycle I had long, painful heavy periods and severe cramps. It turned out I had a cyst on my left ovary. I'm not sexually active so I can't say this works well for preventing pregnancy. After years of using this medication I have gotton quite use to it and its occasional side effects. I can't say Yay or nay for this drug in preventing pregnancy, but it is excellent for regulation periods. I highly recommend it.Read More Read Less

Been on this for a week. Dr prescribed it for my long, heavy periods and extreme pain from ovaries. After a couple hours of taking the first pill I broke out in hives and horrible itch. I figured my body needed to get use to it so its been a week and still so itchy and bumps. Calling tomorrow to complain. Havent been on it long enough to tell if it helps with pain and bleeding but cant stand the itching! Im fixed so dont "need" birth control! Just want my ovary pain gone :(

Unfortunately, I, too, like many other "reviewers" have had awful side effects with this pill. After the birth of my daughter 2010) I was put on lo loestrin. Worked wonderfully. Just had my son in August 2013, and went back to it. Unfortunately it didn't work correctly, so I was put on cryselle. Only in 2nd month, but will be switching after this pack. Migraines, heavy cramps 2nd week of packet, mood swings, low sex drive... I've been on a birth control pill for overb15 yrs (except for pregnancies). I have NEVER had such extreme side effects. May be ok for some; pills react differently for everyone. But def not the pill for me!!Read More Read Less

I took this BC for 5 months and it worked up until the 5th month. It stopped working and needless to say the bottom fell out with my period and I had to have a blood transfusion and was hospitalized with a 2.8 blood count (hemoglobin). I do NOT recommend this drug to anyone not even to anyone I hate.

So I've only been on this bc for about a week after not being on any type of bc for over 5 years and already I'm going to quit taking it!!! I have been nauseous everyday thus far and I'm starting to have trouble sleeping. I recently went to the DR. & was also prescribed a antibiotic so I thought maybe it was taking both pills together that was making me sick. But after reading all these other reviews I've come to the conclusion that it's definitely the BC! I've felt extremely bloated, very sick to my stomach(I had a few sips of wine with dinner last night and felt horrible afterwards smh.) This past weekend I was so fatigued, I didn't want to do anything but lay in the bed, because I didn't have the strength to do anything(mind you I had only been taking it probably 4 days), and headaches come shortly after taking the pill and a sick feeling for the rest of the day/night. I'm just too threw. I know my man would not be happy if it decreased my sex drive like mentioned with other reviews and I definitely wouldn't be happy either along with all the other horrid side effects I've read so far, so after talking it over with him, I'm done. I have been taking this drug for 7 months now for treatment for endometriosis. The first three months were great. Periods got very light and hardly any cramping. The downside however, was that I started to gain weight at a steady pace: 1-2 pounds per month. I know that it is the Cryselle since I haven't changed my habits in any way. I also have developed vaginal irritation. I am going to give it up.

I was first prescribed Cryselle due to irregular periods. I later found out I had PCOS. I was switched to another BC pill by another doctor and had horrible headaches. I requested to go back on Cryselle and am satisfied. I get my period regularly now (normal flow) and my skin has cleared up. I don't have any of the side effects that others have mentioned like bloating or period issues. I only have bloating when PMSing and have been able to lose weight on this pill. Everyone's body is different, but I found that it helps my PCOS symptoms.Read More Read Less
