I was taking this birth control for 1.5 years. In the beginning it made me very nauseous, but after a few weeks it got better. After a while i started to have no desire for sex. I thought it was normal. I thought I could go the rest of my life without having sex, it was horrible. After I stopped taking the pill, the sex got a lot better, and more enjoyable.

I took Ortho Tri Lo for 2 years & I found that it to be effective. The downside however, was weight gain -- rougly 10-15 pounds & that included breast growth (a full cup size.)I also battled acne, which I never had before. The weight is hard to kick once you start the pill. Since Ive been off it, my breats shrunk and Ive shead some of the boat. It I am currently trying Implanon (Arm Implant) but if it doesnt serve me well, I will likely switch back to this. All in all, there isnt too much to complain about. When I started Ortho Lo, I knew the effects it could have on me. Just stay informed & remember that anything you put into your body, will alter its natural flow in some way. rnbRead More Read Less

i am 19 years old and went on OTCLO to help with my mild acne, and horrible periods that made me have terrible cramps to the point where i stayed in bed all day with a heating pad because they were too painful to do anything with. the first month my acne got worse, because i was purging, but into the second month it started to really clear up! i am almost on my fourth month now and my acne is completely gone!! also my periods are light and last only 3 days, and hardly any cramping. i had some side effects the first month but, after that none. you just have to give your body time to adjust to ANY medication, which usually is about 3 months. a lot of the people who leave negative reviews have only used it for a month or two, that isnt giving your body enough time to adjust to a medication that is bascially changing your hormones! of course your going to have some side effects from that! overall i think this pill is great, you just have to get through the first three months of minor side effects and the rest is smooth sailing! My first month of taking this, I got 2 periods! Both were heavy. The second month, I got my period about a week and a half late. I thought something was wrong with me. It has made me very moody and depressed. I want to switch off of it!

I was prescribed this medication for treatment of endometriosis and stayed on it for 5 long months. I should have quit it after the 3 month trial. Before ortho lo, I suffered intense pain on the first day of my period only. On ortho lo, the pain was maybe slightly less intense, but was dragged out to 5 long painful days. Before ortho lo, I had very brief periods lasting only 3 days, Ortho lo caused my to period average out at 7 days long and very heavy, and it was increasingly late. The initial side effects (sweating, night sweats) went away after the first 3 months, but I dropped ortho lo like a hot rock last month when I experienced dramatic and almost overnight increase in breast size and tenderness, and my thighs bloated out so much my clothes couldn’t fit within the week (I went through painful breast reduction surgery so… breast increase was kind of traumatic). It wasn't anything I've eaten that’s caused this I have an extremely restricted diet due to another medical condition. My diet hasn’t varied in almost 10 years. That was over a month ago, the edema in my breasts and thighs hasn't receded one bit and my cycle is still weird. My doctor is prescribing me a diuretic for the edema, which I’ll be trying soon, though the over the counter type did zilch for me. I'm that this problem should be resolved naturally in 3 months. That feels like a long time, but I really hope that it's so.Read More Read Less

Today I bought tri-sprintec because ortho tri cyclen lo, the pill that I have used for years, is now out of my price range because I no longer have insurance. I was nervous about taking a new pill so I wanted to look at what people were saying about it. Many of the comments were negative, so I decided to look at Ortho tri cyclen lo comments. Again, almost all were negative. Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo has been so wonderful to me for so many years. I have not gained any weight, have not had mood swings, and I still love having sex with my boyfriend. What it comes down to is that every woman is different and will react differently to different birth control. In order to know how you will react you can only use trial and error. I love this pill, and despite bad stories you should try it. Read More Read Less

The otl has been effective in the use of birth control. I have taken the pill for 3months and have experienced weight gain (about 10lbs), moodiness and depression, headaches, and more frequent periods. I was on yaz before this and would love to go back. i would not recommend this pill to anyone.

Took for 3 months. 1.5 months before marriage and 1.5 months after marriage. Had to stop taking due to medication causing a sever eczema break out over most of my body. With in a week of stopping medication eczema went away. And has never come back. It makes me truely scared to try any type o oral birth control again.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo is a miracle. While on this pill, I did not gain a pound, my mild acne cleared up and my periods became light, regular and short. I should also add that this is my ONLY form of birth control and I have never had a pregnancy scare! The only side effect I did experience was mild nausea for the first few months. Definitely worth it. This pill is awesome!!!

I am 16 years old, and I started the pill this month. I immediately started having side effects; upset stomach, tired, moody, hungrier than normal, bloating, really depressed, and even blurred vision. But what it did to my skin was horrible. My face (espically my cheeks) broke out REALLY bad, I have ance anyway, but this was far worse than it has ever been before. However, my skin is clearing up. I started my period today, and I was having HORRIBLE cramps, but taking Aleve really helped. I hope the side effects go away, I know it takes about 2-3 months for it to actually get into my system, but be careful about taking this medication. Read More Read Less

I took this birth control pill when I was in my teens. I started it when I was 15. I took this pill everyday at the exact same time. Completely correct to the directions, and I still got pregnant on this pill alone. After about 7 months of use. Before getting pregnant, I gained 15 pounds as well. I am 20 now, I recently went to my gyno to be on birth control pills (I was on the patch for a while) He said "Pregnancy on Ortho Tricyclen Lo? No wonder, this is not the best birth control for anyone under 35. It's pretty low dosage." Thanks, Doc.Read More Read Less

BEWARE: I started taking OTC Lo 3months ago. Right after having my daughter. Right away I started having chest pains, nose bleeds, EXCESSIVE hair loss to the point where while taking showers I would clog my drain. Also severe headaches and I would get 2 periods in one month..WHAT THE HECK?! I seriously do not recommend this Pill.

Pros: Acne went away completely!! Didn't have much to begin with, but my skin was completely clear all the time on this BC! Unfortunately, the cons outweighted the pros... extremely moody and tired on the third phase of the pills, would cry at the anything, started to scare my friends and family. Couldn't deal with the moodiness, switched to another brand after about 5 months.

I have been on OTL for about a year now. it has been extremely effective for me, but it does make me very tired. I am always sleepy, and i use caffiene to ease that away. For the first two months on OTL i experienced chest pains and bad abdomal cramps but that went away after being on the pill for about 3 months. It cleared up my skin, and also made my boob grow. I would reccomend this pill to anyone due to its effectiveness.

I started taking Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for hemorrhagic ovarian cysts and cyst ruptures. It's only been a month, and I know I need to switch to something else. The packaging makes use a bit difficult, but my main complaint is that since I started this medication I've been getting headaches on a daily basis and have been feeling depressed. I've lost interest in things I used to find enjoyable, feel too anxious to sleep well, and have been having flashbacks to a period in my life when I was physically abused. I am hoping that going back on Microgestin - which didn't cause headaches or mood disturbances for me before - will resolve these problems, because I would rather have the cysts than to continue feeling the way I do now. I was on this pill for six months. I honestly didn't think that I was experiencing any side effects but they were gradual so i never really noticed. I started getting bad headaches (which I attributed to other things). I was extremely moody/psychotic at times (my poor boyfriend) and the spotting was pretty bad. Since my side effects are getting worst 6months after starting, it is time for me to switch to something else.
