Since using the drug I have had night cramping in my lower extremities. My PCP is aware of this and is monitoring me closely. But they do interfere with my sleep at least two to three nights a week.

I took Tricor for more than a year but recently the pharmacist refilled the prescription with Finofibrate 48 mg that has Abbot logo on it. This is some knid of generic drug. Tricor (Finofibrate) reduces the Triglycerides however, I have started to see the side effects now. I have muscle pain in my fingers, shoulder and legs. My eyes feel dry and sometimes the vision is not clear. I am going to call my doctor tomorrow to let her know that I am stopping the use of this medication. I am a male in mid 40s.Read More Read Less

Have had levels between 300 and 600 before using this treatment. Afterward, levels have been between about 50 and 150.

I was on this medication for less than 3 months when I stopped taking it due to numerous side effects. Althought it lowered my cholesterol and triglycerides, I stopped taking it and now use fish oil, niacin and red rice yeast. Side effects included severe cramps in my feet and legs and pain in my feet, ankles, legs back and hips. I also had poor sleep, frequent urination, blurry vision, forgetfullness and numbness in my hands and arms.

Too expensive to continue treatment with the Tricor brand.

My triglicerides were over one thousand and cholesterol was in the high hundreds. After taking tricor and a combination of fish oil caps as well as diet and excercise, the "bad" numbers were gradually reduced, and are now in the normal range most of the time.

I've been taking 145 mg daily for about 5 years now. My triglyceride level was at 1349 when I started and are under 100 now. My cholesterol was at 375 and is now below 200. I have never had any negative side affects. I guess tricor works better for some people and not so good for others.

after starting TriCor I had muscle pain, joint pain, began clenching at night. had a hard time doing exercise due to the pain. I went off on my own and the pain stopped. I am a Type 11 diabetic and my doctor put me on this because my Tri. was starting to go up. I beged him not to as I have not herd good things about this. I told him with my diabetic diet and exersice I wanted to be retested in a few months. The side effects are not worth the pain and inactivity.

After reading all the bad pub for Tricor on here, I figured I would tell the good side of the story. I've been on Tricor for over a year and my Triglycerides have gone from over 1000 to under 130. I have had ZERO side effects and couldn't be happier with the drug.

I've been on Tricor for 2 months now. No leg cramps, nightmares or loss of sex drive. I do have to urinate about 3 times before I can fall asleep. My Tri's were 1,200 2 months ago. I've been a little tired, but I've been walking 2 miles a day and have lost 16 pounds. I've also changed my diet drastically. I'm really looking forward to see my next blood work results. Hopefully I get some good news next month.

This med was effective in lowering my triglycerides and cholesterol but the side effects were too much. Increased nausea that worsened to every day, all day long. Brain fog. Sudden hair loss all over my head leaving me with much thinner hair! Stopped taking it. Statins all gave me chronic myalgia and I'm not willing to destroy my muscles for something else I MIGHT get in the future. Thus, at this point I am sticking with the prescription fish oil.

I have had no issues until recently. I have been experiencing allergy like symptoms and a rash. I would like to know if anyone else has or had these symptoms.

Took for only a week, 145 mg to lower tris from 436 and had flu like symptoms. Stopped taking with the approval of my dr. Have not had blood test done. Doubt if a week would help much.

I have taken Tricor for 6 months. My tri's went from 400 to 133 but it was attacking me knees. So I went to every other day, adding ginger root & MSM anti-inflammatories. Tri's climbed back to 200 but doc was happy with that & no more joint pain. He sees me in 1 year,he is happy with results

Tricor reduced my levels from 760 to 220 within 3 weeks, Along with a proper diet. However, I did notice that my sex drive went from high, to rather non existent after being on the drug for only a short period of time.

I was on this medicine for over a month and didn't put two and two together when I started having all sort of muscle aches and pains. I looked up the side effects and sure enough that was one of them. I stopped the drug immediately and all of the pains went away. I'm trying a different approach. Be careful as your doctor may tell you that this is not in the statin family so it will not cause muscle aches ... rubbish! It does! Good luck with your solution.
