I have cluster headaches, which are considered a type of migraine. I'm 77, and have had them for 10 years, almost one a day. I take a combination of verapamil, lithium carbonate and gabapentin as preventives, but all they do is limit the severity (say 4,instead of 8 on 1 to 10 scale). I take Excedrine Migraine as my first abortive medicine; it works within 1 to 2 hours maybe 4 out of five times. W...

I have been suffering from migraine headaches for 40 years. I was on prescription Fiorinal. When I had to change doctors, my new doctor would not prescribe Fiorinal ... I was treated for high blood pressure instead. The headaches lessened, but a few years ago they came back. I tried a couple of over the counter pain medications but nothing worked. Then I found Excedrin Migraine and wow does it work. I think it's as effective as the Fiorinal.

I used to use Imitrex and it didn't really work. I found this product and it works wonders for me. I take it when I feel the first pains of a migraine and in about 10 minutes I feel better.

I have been using Imitrex but it was like pausing my migrain until the day after, so I have to take it for 2-3 day in a row. With Excedrin, I just take 1 as soon as the headache starts and half an hour later I felt normal, without any lingering migrain the day after.

I used this medication for years to treat migraines. I worked wonders for me. However, the only reason why I stopped is because a doctor discovered that at the age of 31, it caused an ulcer. I tried to take it with food and a full glass of water but I guess it wasn't enough. I didn't even have to take it every day, just when the migraine where too much to bare. I was told to stop immediately and was put on Fioricet and Imitrex. Since Dec. 2007, I have only taken the Excedrin once when I REALLY needed to get rid of the migraine. If it works for you, great. Just be careful...Read More Read Less

If taken right at the start of a migraine or severe headache, I have found it to be one of the best over-the-counter pain medications around. I usually only take it once and it erases the pain.
