I have tried to quit the Premarin several times since having a complete hysterectomy in my late 40s(I am now 73) The only "side effect" was the misery when I was off of the meds-horrible hot flashes and mood swings which were intense. Needless to say, I went back on and feel fine. I just heard from my insurance that Medicare/supplement ins. will not cover the Premarin. After finding out that it wo...

I refuse to take this drug simply because of the way it is produced. Go on You Tube and watch what is done. This medication comes from pregnant horse urine. The conditions those horses live in is absolutly horrible, as soon as the foal is born it is taken away and the mare is made to keep getting pregnant. Its unbelievable

Premarin is a Devil drug. My wife had been on Premarin for about ten years after a complete Hysterectomy.(.625 dosage) The drug worked real well but last Oct.(2012) she developed blood clots in her left leg and both lungs. The Doctors took her off of Premairin immediately and started her on Warfin (blood thiner). Thank the Lord I think we got to it in time. Please be very careful with this drug!!!!

After two months on 1.25 mg I started developing chest pain, and pains down my arm. I developed an arythmia and high blood pressure. The doctors insisted that it was not the premarin, but as soon as I stopped taking it the symptoms subsided. This is a scary medication, which caused depression, anxiety, jumpiness, excessive tiredness on which after just about three months I gained thirty pounds.

I've been on the .625 mg due to total hysterectomy. I still have extreme hotflashes. I question whether the benefits outweigh the risks?

I was told by my Dr. that this med. would help increase my sex drive. I am not so sure. I had complete hesterectomy at age 35, I am now 49, I took it for several years, years ago. I just got tired of taking so many meds. Does anyone know or have experienced increased sex drive while taking Premarin.

I've only just started today, I can't really rate at this time thou I'm very headachy and feel overly tired. My surgery was just two weeks ago. They did a Hystorectomy and of course removed my ovaries and left the cervix. Dr says it would help with the control of my bladder and sex life to leave the cervix since I've never had a abnormal pap. During my two check or post op appt: Dr found bacteria in my urine and I've exsperianced iching and some incontenance when I sneeze so he put me on Clindimyicine and Premarin for hot flashes and for lack of sleep. I really don't know if this is the right prescription for me. I never wanted both of my ovaries to be taken because of this dive straight into mens anyway, but he said I had cyst on them and I know I had a large Fibroid at the top of my uterus thus the surgery. Is there something else I can try instead of the premarin for I don't want dependency on this drug for the rest of my life. Thank you, Miss ConcernedRead More Read Less

I am 41, partial hysterectomy in 2003, then April 2011 both ovaries removed. I had hot flashes within days, couldn't sleep. I have gained about 20 lbs, I stopped taking it due to the weight gain, symptoms returned within a few days. I started taking meds again, now find myself very depressed over the weight gain. Are all HRT meds going to cause weight gain? I went from 144 to 160 from June to present date. Have joined Weight Watchers & going to invest in a treadmill, if weight loss doesn't occur I will stop meds.Read More Read Less

just some questions if any women have answers. Im 34, just had total hysterectomy, have been on premarin for 2 mnths now, and have started to notice things. I have little bumps all over my face that look like acne but isnt. Dont know if this is what they consider rash? (side effect) Also out of the blue, I have had severe nasal congestion and chest congestion, to point it is hard to breathe and causes choking, like bronchitis (rare side effect) has any other women had these or am I just overreacting to nothing?Read More Read Less
