I have no idea why there are so many bad reviews on this birth control! I made the mistake when my doctor first put me on this BC pill to read reviews. I was so terrified to begin taking it but my doctor assured me I would be fine. (Previously I was taking Lo Loestra but my insurance no longer covered the cost). I had finally decided to take it, as I was beginning a new relationship and definitely...

I started taking Junel a month ago and now have started the first week of my second pack. The first month was okay: minor nausea, sore breasts, minor bloating. did not notice mood changes. not sure about my sex drive. I did not get my period during my placebo week. Now that I have started the second month I feel terrible! The most noticeable symptom is AWFUL BLOATING. 5 hours after I eat lunch ...

Gave me worse acne then when I was on cryselle, bloating, and weird spotting sometimes after sex, along with barely getting a period or none at all. Which might be fine for some people, however I am sexually active and need that reassurance that I wasn’t pregnant. This medication also gives me really sore breast and nipples every month, also making it feel like pregnancy symptoms or cancer! What a roller coaster, glad I am getting off. I started this medication instead of cryselle in hopes it would help with my sex drive and it didn’t help at all. Read More Read Less

Honestly, first month has been good so far. My hormonal acne from a previous iud has cleared up to where I get a lot of compliments on my skin. I have been drinking more water to try and combat any water weight to flush it out. I experienced a little nausea at first but I try to take it in the evening to help with that.

I’ve been on this pill 11 months already and I like it. Just going to say I haven’t had sex all year so I don’t know about the control in that. However, I’ve had less cramping and blood flow so I’m happy with that. One of the biggest things tho I’ve noticed was my mood. I feel my mood is much more regulated. And the only way I can confirm that is, I was off of it last week and was experiencing significant mood changes I was so depressed and just numb. I’m now going to put it in my phone case.

I began taking this to prevent pregnancy and I've been on it now for 8 months and no baby! Despite having unprotected sex. I had breakthrough bleeding when i first started taking it and just recently it has begun again which means I need a stronger pill so I won't be taking junel fe anymore. However i haven't gotten pregnant despite the dosage being too low so thats cool. I didn't experience any adverse side effects and actually lost weight when I began taking it and maintaining my weight had been very easy. I also didn't experience a decreased sex drive or vaginal dryness, however every body is different. I found that my overall mood increased, I am happier than before starting the pill and I haven't noticed a change in my anxiety. I do get ovulation symptoms like breast tenderness and light cervical cramping but this may be because I need a higher dose of hormones. I used to have extremely heavy periods, like filling multiple pads a day for 7 days straight but they were very predictable and were never irregular. After starting the pill my periods stayed regular, like clockwork my period started 24 hours after stopping the hormone pill and lasted the entire brown pill week. They were also extremely light and i had no horrible symptoms like i used to. I used to get nuasea, vomiting, lightheadedness, chills, body aches, and bloating but those all stopped when I started the pill. Overall this birth control does what I wanted it to and has positive effects, it's been really great!Read More Read Less

I was only on this pill for a week. During this week I had the worst yeast infection imaginable, and I have never had a yeast infection long than a day before. I would wake up in puddles of discharge, and don’t get me started about during the day….. I also felt myself being angrier and less tolerant than my usual calm demeanor self. I was also feeling very depressed. I did not enjoy my experience. I was going to try the whole month but the first week was so bad, I couldn’t.

I've tried other oral birth controls before and this is by far the best. I didn't have a period after taking it :) I maybe spotted very lightly once or twice in the five years or so I've been on it, but nothing bad. No cramps. No mood swings. No weight gain. I noticed a decrease in my sex drive, but that's about it.

This was the first birth control brand I've ever started, and it was a horrible experience. During the first few months (1-3) I noticed that I had an increase in appetite and my boobs were tender, and have grown. (I already have a large chest and I hated the fact that they got bigger). I also experienced bloating, and a huge decrease in my libido. Instead of experiencing depression, I was fueled with anger and anxiety and sometimes would have emotional outbursts. I didn't really gain that much weight, I only gained 5 pounds. However, months 4-5 were horrible. I was starting to lose hair, and my leg hairs grew sparsely, I was developing cystic acne and I switched brands immediately. Read More Read Less

I have been using June’s fe 1/20for low testosterone irregular periods and to boost libido. The first week was very hard to get used to stomach cramps nausea and diarrhea but as my body got used to it my periods became lighter and easier to deal with. I start it off at 5’4” weighing 173 lbs. 3 months later I am 5’4 190 lbs. I’ve had the tenderness in my breasts and water retention in my legs ankles and feet. I feel it has done it’s job but I do not appreciate the increase in appetite and weight gain. I am stopping this medication. Everyone body is different. Worth a try. Read More Read Less

Pros: This has worked perfectly to make my periods manageable. I went from 7 days of bleeding to a 2 day period. Cramps now respond to ibuprofen and aren’t as bad as before. My acne has cleared up apart from the occasional 2-3 pimples that still show up once in a while. No changes in mood. Cons: Sex drive is almost non-existent. Whenever I do have sex, it is extremely dry. I’m forced to use lube now or it’s painful. Weird thing to experience at 20, when you shouldn’t be having issues with dryness. I’ve been on it for 6 months and gained 15 lbs with no change in activity or diet. I bloat a lot after eating now. My stomach is always flat in the mornings but by the evening it sticks out so far it looks like I’m 5 months pregnant lmao. My blood pressure has risen. I’ve always had BP on the low end my whole life but after starting this pill it’s consistently around 130/90. Read More Read Less

This was my first time using a birth control pill, I had a bad experience with it causing anxiety/depression. It started within the first 3-4 weeks of taking it. I was feeling anxious and depressed and couldn't pin down why, anxiety was causing shallow breathing so I couldn't sleep, I felt on the verge of tears almost daily, would often just start crying but wouldn't feel better after crying. I didn't know what was causing this, I booked appointments with my primary doctor, a psychologist and my gyno within the same week in a desperate attempt for someone to fix whatever was going on. Then I started googling side effects of the birth control and at least felt some relief in knowing it was because of this after reading similar reviews. My primary doctor just prescribed me a heavy dose sleeping pill for anxiety and was very dismissive when I mentioned I thought my problems might be due to recently starting this pill. My gyno was great though and told me anxiety/depression is unfortunately a side effect for some people. I stopped taking it within 2 months because I couldn't handle it, I guess there is a chance if I stuck it out for another month maybe my body would have adjusted, but it was unbearable. I know this is not everyone's experience though, I have 2-3 friends who have been on this same brand for years with no issues. So who knows, it's a risk. I would just say be aware of your feelings/general well-being when starting it.Read More Read Less

i was really really hopeful for junel. it was my first birth control, i was happy to have something to get both my acne and irregular periods under control. i started it, my periods were virtually gone for the first three months, i rapidly gained 20 pounds despite no change in diet and an increase in exercise, my boobs got way tender all the time, and my skin mildly improved. the worst part and the reason for me switching off of junel is the things it did to my brain. i have always struggled with depression and anxiety, but it was like my lowest point i had ever experienced suddenly became the happiest i ever felt. i was lonely. i was violent. i was angry all the time. i was miserable. i was suicidal. i relapsed after being clean from self harm for 4 years. i feel like my relationship between me and my significant other has deteriorated and it’s all because of the awful mood swings and isolation tactics i use whenever i feel bad. each person’s experience is their own, so if your doctor puts you on junel just cross your fingers and pray you feel good. if you do? that’s amazing. if you don’t? switch off and keep trucking. The only bad side effects I’ve gotten from this is possible weight gain and harder to lose weight, but it’s hard to pinpoint that to the birth control and definitely isn’t enough to knock it down a star. I absolutely love this though! Works well when taken correctly and I use it to skip my periods :)

This was my first b/c and have struggled since I had started taking it. It first began with recurring yeast infections that never went away for a year. Then my mood swings were severe, I became angry and more emotional than I had ever been. I gained 30lb since being on it and had increased appetite. I finally came off of it and I can feel the positive change my body is taking and am finally losing all the weight I gained while being on it.

Ive been taking this brand of bcp for over a year now and I honestly love how smooth it is. My periods used to last 8+ days and now i barely make it to 4 days. My cramps have gotten much better; they didn’t disappear but better than before. I did get some headaches and mood swings here and there but thats normal for all bcp while your body is adjusting to the hormones.

I have been on this pill for about 8 years now and have not had any problems. Once I stop taking the pill I end up pregnant right away, have two kids now. Have been taking it before and after my two pregnancies. Have no weird side effects, except my weight gain but other than that this pill is great.

Honestly this birth control isn’t horrible. I’ve been taking it for a few months and it has done its job. In the beginning I had inexplainable mood swings and could not control my emotions whatsoever. This got better eventually but I was still not feeling like myself and up til now I don’t. The biggest issue for me is my increased appetite. I already have issues with my eating (sometimes too much sometimes not enough) and I feel that this birth control heightened my issues. I’ve felt bigger and overall gross/not myself most days since starting it. I’ve decided to go off it and see if my mood goes back to normal as well as my body. Read More Read Less

Let me start by saying everyone’s body reacts differently to any hormonal substance! I started Junel FE around late 2021, as Sprintec caused me to have breakthrough bleeding after being on it for 5ish years. During the first and second month of being on this pill I had begun feeling depressed, which sucked as I hadn’t dealt with that before. I also had break through bleeding for a bit which was super annoying. But I decided to stick it out, knowing my body was just slowly getting used to the new pill. It has now been about 4 or 5 months on Junel, and I honestly want to go cold turkey right now. I’ve had intrusive thoughts constantly, depression, anger, and no sex drive. The only pros of Junel are that my period is only 3 days long, and I only have cramps on the first day. Plus I haven’t gotten pregnant. I’m hoping to find a better source of (non-horomonal) contraceptive soon!Read More Read Less

I’ve had so many bad experiences with this pill. Just like the others I have experienced on and off bleeding, migraine, decrease in libido , breast tenderness, mood swings, and a big one for me was the burning after sex and vaginal dryness. DONT NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE ITS NOT WORTH IT!
