I was really nervous to try this after seeing all the awful side effects people have had, but I've just begun my fifth month and haven't noticed anything at all. No weight gain, mood swings, nothing. I would recommend that people give it a go because if you think about it, the only people who are really going to be motivated to review are most likely those who hated it, so the online rating is alm...

Well, the best I can say is that this drug has done what it's supposed to do. I haven't gotten pregnant since I started using it, but that's all I can say for the positives. To name a few of the issues this drug has given me: headaches/migraines with increased frequency, severe abdominal pains, nausea, mood swings, extremely strange periods, chest pains, tender breasts, and very frequent shortness...

I used to have terrible cramping to the point where I couldn't even go anywhere. My periods were long and awful, then my doctor put me on Junel FE 1.5/30. I sometimes get it 2 times a month, but very minor spotting, and no cramps!!! I can't complain

After week one of using this drug, I knew it would be difficult, but I continued. This drug made me very emotional, to the point where anything made me cry. I slowly becamed depressed. I suffered with two periods a month with very heavy cramping. It was horrible. I would strongly suggest using another drug. Nothing about taking this drug was easy. The side effects are completely unbearable.

I've been taking Junel Fe since 2/12 and I've had consistent breakthrough bleeding every month. It has developed into two periods per month. This is extremely inconvenient, but I'm on it because there is a shortage of Lo-Ogestrel 28, which suited me perfectly. I hate this medicine so much that I'd almost rather go without birth control. The doctor is reluctant to make any changes.

I will say that Junel prevents pregnancy and gave me a short, light, reliable period, which I appreciate. However, I've been taking this drug for over a year now and I'm realizing it's been the most miserable year of my life! I've been an emotional wreck with out of control anxiety, no sex drive, nausea and digestive problems, and my acne has been so terrible that I don't even want to go out in public. I can trace all of this back to when I switched to Junel. I am finishing my last pack tonight and I am SO happy to be done. If you struggle with acne or anxiety/depression, do NOT take this drug.Read More Read Less

I'm not happy at all with this bc. I've taken this pill for a year without giving the pill it's due credit for my symptoms... I've been moody, irritable, bloated, 2 periods per month, AND a squashed sex drive. I'm switching pills ASAP.

I have never had many side effects on any bc pills before until now. I have the Paraguard IUD right now but asked my doctor for a 3 months supply of birth control so I could suppress my period when I go to Punta Cana in October. Well I just finished my first pack and I am DONE! I don't care if I have my period on vacation. This pill made me bleed continuously('spotting'is definitely NOT the world) my boobs got so swollen I could barely touch them, and my moods were horrible! Then there was the bloating....The only plus was that my skin looked a lot better, although it did make it more oily. Worst experience with a pill EVER!!! Read More Read Less

I have been on this medication of over a year. The first few months I was sick but I stuck with it and I am glad I did. I take it continuously until my body forces a period, so about 3x's a year. If I didnt have this pill I would be sick constantly because my periods were so bad and my hormones are all messed up. My periods were so bad I was passing out. I have tried many birth controls, and this has been the best, as long as you stick through your first few months.

I started this medication back in march. I had been experiencing really long and irregular periods and wanted to regulate them. After a few months my periods did regulate a bit more, although they are still not completely normal which is why i did not rate them completely effective. The reason i did not like them, however, was that over the past several months I have been experiencing serious emotional issues. I've been feeling worried and sad and i get upset over really silly things. At first I thought I was just stressed from school or something but eventually I realized that it all started when I started the pills. I will definitely be switching to another type.Read More Read Less

I have been on Junel for 4 months. The first 2 months I was bloated, tired, moody. I wasn't liking Junel at all. But for the last 2 months I have felt so much better on it. Im not emotional anymore, I don't have mood swings and I don't feel bloated at all. My periods have been so light to the point where I just spot for a few days. Give this medication a chance, it may work for you. It did for me. Im happy on it.

My doctor switched me to Junel Fe because my period was coming a week too soon with Balzivia. I was warned that I may experience breakthrough bleeding for up to 6 months. I didn't have that problem and my period was coming when expected. However, after just 2 months on this pill I am extremely irritable and overly emotional. I am relieved to read the other reviews and know that I am not the only one who has had negative side effects. I am definitely talking to my doctor about switching. I can't stand feeling like I want to cry and scream at the same time.Read More Read Less

I haven't been on birth control in over a year, but when I had abnormal bleeding that lasted almost 4 weeks and after the many tests I had done came back normal, I began taking Junel fe 1.5/30 at the suggestion of my doctor. I was nervous after reading the many terrible reviews that I would gain weight or my skin would break out or I would feel crazy. I told myself to try it anyway because most people who go onto message boards do so when they are upset about something and I should see if my body would normalize. It took about a month, but my irregular bleeding stopped and I have not had ANY adverse side effects- not one! Everyone's body is different and will react differently, but I am very happy on this BCP. Read More Read Less

This is my first birth control pill and I'm 100% happy with it. No side effects except for regular, lighter periods. I have absolutely nothing to complain about, Junel Fe is great!

I am glad to know I'm not alone! I've been taking this pill about 5 months now- experiencing 2 periods a month- extreme mood swings- deep depression and feeling bloated all the time! I finally know why since my Doctor switched my pill. I am going back to my original trusted pill ASAP.

Loestrin gave me two periods in one month for about nine months until I decided I couldnt take it anymore. When I switched to Junel, the periods became regular but I found myself vomiting, constantly nauscious, over emotional, and got the worst period cramps of my life. I even fainted and pretty much had a seizure yesterday about an hour or so after I took it. This medicine regulates periods and does indeed do its job at protecting pregnancy, I even lost some weight while taking it, but it does seem to make people very sick and emotional. I think I will switch pills yet again because vomiting every night is getting old. Read More Read Less

I have been taking this medication for one month, and am super happy with it! I was taking Loestrin Fe (very satisfied), but the co-payments of $50 were too costly. I used Junel Fe generic, and had no weight gain or mood issues. I was very happy. My pharmacist gave me Gildes Fe this month (they were out of Junel Fe), and I have been nauseaus, gained 4 pounds, and having mood swings. I am going back to Junel Fe, and highly recommend it! I do NOT recommend Gildess Fe. Note: Cvs told me they no longer carry Junel fe (Gildess fe only now), but Walgreens has BOTH. Good luck! Read More Read Less

I've been on Junel a little over a year, and I started birth control mostly because of my very unpredictable periods that came early or not at all and were very heavy and painful. The first few months on this pill I thought it was fine, but over time I've noticed the side effects have gotten stronger and worse. I began with flawless skin, and now my face is covered in acne that is also now on my back for the first time in years. I have also gained 15 pounds within the past year regardless of the fact that my physical activity levels and eating has been the same. I don't feel confident anymore because of the way this pill has changed my appearance and my mood. I'm tired all the time and get constant headaches, and feel nauseous often. On top of that, my periods are still as irregular as ever! I alternate between going 4 months without them randomly to bleeding and having periods during the middle of the pack. I've had up to three periods a month sometimes. My cramps have gotten worse - WAY, WAY worse. It may seem good at first, but trust me, give it time. Only negative changes have come of Junel, I am throwing it out tonight and switching. It's not worth the loss of self esteem and all the negativity it's brought to my life.Read More Read Less

Junel FE is the worst birth control I have tried in the past 9 years. I have only been on the medication for 2 months. I was on Ortho Lo and switched to Junel because I was having a small amount of breakthrough bleeding the week before my period while on Ortho Lo. Bad mistake! My breakthrough bleeding has increased...so much so that it's almost like having a second longer period in the same month. I have broken out worse than I ever have. My biggest complaint: I have been on an emotional roller coaster! Extremely emotional, crying all of the time, very depressive, overly anxious, and always hungry! I have already been to the see the doctor and I am trying regular Ortho when finished with this Junel pack. That day can't get here any sooner! Read More Read Less

I am 42 and over the past few years developed heavy periods and low iron. I went on the pill to stop the heavy periods. I started with Cryselle and noticed hair loss. Switched to Nortrell 777 and noticed a CRASH in libido. Am on Junel now and libido is restored rather quickly, no hair loss. I have had some weight gain, but that could be unrelated to the pill, it's winter and my activity level much less. All in all so far so good.

This birth control worked in that I didn't become pregnant.. HOWEVER - I became EXTREMELY moody and pretty much bipolar. I would cry at ANYTHING and became very emotional and depressive. The WORST part was, it was hard to realize it was the birth control doing it to me. I've stopped taking this drug and I feel so much better! So much less anxiety, and I'm no longer depressed. Now I'm searching for a new birth control...
