My mother is on the liquid Vancomycin and it is " ALOT " cheaper ! About $100.00. The medicine Shoppe's can make it. It is for 30 day supply.

On Vanco for 3 months, continued to have UTI's, bladder pain, frequency which became worse getting off this drug. Could not get rid of CDIFF, ended up on Dificid for 3 months.

lets see...where do i start. I've had C-Diff since Christmas and out of work. I've been through 2 treatments of Flagyl and this will be my 3rd treatment of Vancomycin. Nothing has worked. I've even tried one of the best ProBiotics on the market (Florastor). I'm a mess and dont know what to do. The dr. is putting me on a protocol that consist of 14 days of vancomycin then after that 14 days of Rifaximin. The last resort is to have harvested stools placed in my body. Not many places do this. I hear its very effective.Read More Read Less

I somehow contracted c-diff 5 days after having a colonoscopy and endo. with polyp removal. I had never hear of this. This happened in Dec. trying already to fiqure out why i was losing weight. I need to have ureter looked at for hydroueter and hydrophesis, but can't because it is Feb and i still have c-diff. It is awful. Was on Vanco. and then difficd and now Vanco. again. When will this end. I am raising my 9 year old grandson. This is scarey they know i don't have a kidney stone. They say it is dangerous to catch or have anything done because it can go to your blood stream? Has anyone else had this for this long. Had not been on antibiotics since last June. I am 56 years old and am paranoid and afraid of my own poop! Read More Read Less

Have not started the oral vancomycin, yet, but for the cost, you may be able to get the hospital to give it to the pharmacy and the pharmacy can put the oral into capsules, saved my cost from over 350$ to $7.00 after insurance. Flagyl slowed it down, but am still sick, very tired, am over 60 yrs old.

A devil of a drug!!!! My wife was on this poison for 6 months! 3 rounds of 2 months each and she has finally gotten over the cdiff (I think- waiting on the next stool results).. Over the course of treatment she developed what he rheumatologist claims to be fibromyalgia.. After some research I'm beginning to see that there is a vancomycin induced variety of FM. I'm praying that this will subside.. She's been off it for two weeks with no improvement.. Can't walk much more than 10 steps without being short of breath and exhausted. She can't eat (vomits, extreme cramping) or sleep, and literally cries all night from the pain and joint swelling/spasms.. Praying this will subside.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed back in June 2013 with c-diff my doctor put me on flagile however this made me feel worse. so i was then prescribed the vancomycin but I could not afford the copay. my son who is in pharmacy college researched the medication and found the liquid form, so i questioned my dr. i am now on my 3rd prescription of the Vancomycin and although my symptoms have subsided i still live with the disease, and I now have painful sores in my mouth. found a physician studying this disease and now have an appointment with her. I am at the end of my rope, this is the worst. Read More Read Less

My mom was taking Vanco for 3 months to treat a bad case of c-diff. 2 weeks after stopping, the c-diff flared up again. She's now on 250mg q 6 hours but has bad back & leg pains. Not listed on the list of side effects but I'm assuming it's from the Vanco as nothing else has changed.

Being this young and taking eight pills a day is not something I want to be doing. The capsules make it easy to swallow, although I am not done with my prescription, so far everything's looking good.

My Dr gave me medication yesterday and insurance would not cover. I started having pain in bladder area after first dose. My Dr informed me this drug has virtually no side affects but in reading I find out differently. I also am partially deaf due to other issues and am concerned about loss of hearing as I don't have a lot to loose. Has anyone experience bladder pain or hearing loss? Did hearing return?

Treated c-diff with flagyl but it came back. Now on 3rd course (3 months) of 500mg every 6 hours. C-diff symptoms still present. Severe nausea after taking it, and lots of hair loss, does anyone notice hairloss? Very expensive, lucky to have full coverage by insurance plan.

Took vancomycin to treat CDiff, after 14 days, stopped medication. 3 weeks later Cdiff was positive again. Took Vanco for a total of 30 days tappering does last two weeks. Side affects were horrible, back pain, stomach ache, cramping, fatique and diahrea. Have been off it for 5 days now and still feeling tired with some stomach issues. How long does it take to get out of system and/or for my digestive system to get bck to normal?

Was diagnosed with C diff and am half way through my 14 day supply. At first I was told my insurance wouldn't cover it. I had my dr. call in a pre auth and it went from $420.00 down to my 5.00 co-pay! Just a tip to help those with insurance issues. Also, that is for the liquid. The taste is horrible, but, short lived with a drink of something immediately following the dose. I am however headed back to the doctors for a bubbly, rash that I have developed. This is an awful bacteria and I feel for any one who has to go through this. I just can't wait for it to be GONE...6 weeks with this has taken a toll on me.Read More Read Less

I was on Vanco several times last summer for C. diff, and now, 6 months later, I have it again...along with heat and neuro problems, quite possibly tied in with being on the Vancomycin

After Flagyl failed to resolve c diff infection I went on a 14 day (500mgx4) course of vanco which cleared the c diff with no side effects. It was very expensive, (my porton was nearly $2k after insurance picked up the majority), but since it was the only thing after months of fighting c diff to have worked, it was worth it!

My insurance, Medicare Part D, paid for the drug which I was given after 3 (14 day) courses of Flagyl. I was critically ill, and getting worse. I wish my physicians had not been so conservative because not going on Vancomycin earlier almost killed me. One of their reasons was that it was an expensive drug. I took it with Flagyl. This also took three 14 day courses. I did not get worse while I was on it as I had with the Flagyl alone. Vancomyacin saved my life. A few months later, my hands swelled and were extremely painful for several weeks. It could have been a residual effect of the c dif or something else. It disappeared. After I tested clean, I still had diarreah for several weeks, but I think my system needed to recuperate even after the c dif was gone. C dif is a horrible, horrible, often deadly disease and I am so grateful I had this drug. I think my physicians could have explained how the drugs work better, that they often take weeks to attack c dif and that the symptoms might remain after the illness is gone.Read More Read Less

You must find a pharmacy that can formulate vancomycin to take orally as a liquid. Cost for 14 day 1oz doses 4 times a day should be about 25.00. Try a hospital pharmacy. The drug works!

C.diff is terrible - Dr.s & dentists really need to make people more aware of the possible effects of antibiotic over-use, & especially clindomycin, often the culprit in contracting this disease. Had I known about c.diff, I would have held off on more antibiotics for my infected thumb, at least for a while! And then I would also take massive doses of probiotics along with the antibiotics, also NOT mentioned by the dr. Yoghurt by itself won't do it. My first course of meds were the Vanco capsules, at $1400. This did not clear up the condition, so my dr. put me on a pulse therapy of liquid Vanco, 4x a day for 14 days, 2x a day for 7 days, 1x a day for 7 days, and so on.The first round of 14 days worth of the liquid solution was only $23! Not all pharmacies can dispense the liquid form, but it is definitely worth looking around for one that does! So far, symptoms have improved, but this disease is notorious for relapses, so I am keeping my fingers crossed - and faithfully & meticulously taking my medicine! Read More Read Less

My Dr. prescribed this med for a 2nd bout of C Diff Colitis. A 7 day prescription, after insurance, was $1200.00. Are you serious? Needless to say I am not on this medication and instead I am on the god-awful Flagyl, 1500 milligrams for 10 days with a cost of $7.47. Go Figure!!!
