Asacol has been a godsend for me. This drug has literally turned my life around. When I first got sick 5 1/2 years ago I was a mess. I lost so much weight, my doctor put me in the hospital. Thanks to this medication I have been in remission for 5 years & have thankfully not had any real flare-ups,& my colonoscopies show no evidence of disease, & considering that my entire colon is affected I would ...

I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease 5 months ago. While using Asacol I had severe hair loss. There also were days when I felt like I couldn not get enough sleep/rest to suit me. I have recently switched to Colazal. I've only been using it for 1 week so I will be leaving a review soon.

I was put on this medication after the one I was on before stopped working for me. I'm 21 now and that was when i was 18. I like this medication, but sometimes I feel sick to my stomach with it or I can't eat a meal during the day.

I have been taking Ascaol for 4 years in varying doses currently 4x400 3 times per day. It does a good job of keeping my symptoms under control. I have been on many other meds over the years, this is the one that works best for me.

After using a few months, I had a flare-up, and was put back on cortesteriods for a short period. Is there any OTC pain medication that can be taken? My dr. said to stay off aspirin. Does that mean nothing (ibuprophen, aleve, etc.) can't be taken either?

I am currently taking 4, 400 mg 3 times a day. Even though some of the pills seem to pass through my system undisolved, they turned out to be just the hulls of this time released medicine. My urgency and frequency have been reduced greatly. I now feel that I can venture away from the toilet without wearing a diaper. So far, I am starting to get my life back!

Asacol kept me in remission for three years, then stopped working. No side effects. Many other drugs tried and failed. I've been on prednisone for almost 4yrs now with no symptoms. Very toxic but only thing working for me. Side effects: bone loss, thinning skin.

It has worked wonders for my fiancé. Once his doctor took him off because it was in remission, it came back.

I was diagnosed in 1997 and had two flare ups since. After my last one (3 years ago) my doctor put me on the maintenance plan. I take 2 pills in the morning and two at night. No symtoms at all. I hope it keeps up.

I just started Asacol 2- 3x day 400mg. I'm on so many other drugs for other problems and since I started this I have been having terrible headaches. I do Take stuff so I don't get migraines so this is a catch 22. I'm going to wait another week and try this perscription because it's barely working as yet,of course i just started but i'll keep going it's better than predizones that was suggested to me at first but i didn't want to gain weight so i'll be his little giiny pig until i'm on the right med. on top of the crohns,i also have diverticulitis. So I'm hoping this medicine will help. Read More Read Less

It didn't work for me, made my UC worse. It also gave me extremely dry, red eyes; and my eyes are still red and dry. I'm pretty sure that's permanent. Visine, Cleareyes, etc., none of those work. It looks pretty hideous. It also made me lose my hair, gave me acne, made my skin dry, and made my skin yellow (possible liver damage). From what I've read this drug only works about 50% of the time--basically the same as a placebo. I found a strict diet and probiotics to be far more effective than not just asacol but all the other UC/CD drugs I've tried--Imuran, prednisone, etc. As with any drug, if you have a bad doctor, this drug can be very dangerous. There's a reason why only doctors can prescribe it. Read More Read Less

I was hospitalized twice before I finally got a real doctor! I feel cured taking this drug. I think its causing some weight gain though, but the alternative, having surgury to remove my colon ain't pretty!
