This was the worst medication that I have ever had for anxiety. How you can even call it an anti-anxiety medication is beyond me. However, Look at the government and the FDA, this answers my question as to why and how it is still be sold. It is absolutley worthless!!!!!!!!

I have just started taking Buspar aboout 5 days ago and I do see a difference already...I do have some of the "dizzy' feeling for a short time after I first take it. I am hoping to stay on a small dose and to have the aggravating anxiety kept at bay.

I've never felt so horrid. This drug worked well for about a month and then began reverse effects including: light-headedness, sweaty palms, chest tightness, restlessness, jitter-like feelings in arms and legs; I was taking Paxil CR prior and only stopped because of rapid weight-gain; however, it helped with anxiety. BuSpar may work for some but only made matters worse for me.

I've suffered from anxiety most of my life. Social anxiety was awful. Buspar has made my life so much better. I started on 20mg/day and I'm up to 50mg. Buspar reduces the "jitters." I can take a breath and relax more around people. There's no drowsiness- just a lot of relief. I felt slightly woozy the first week I took it, but that went away. Now, I can titrate with no problems. I was told that buspar doesn't work for everyone. I'm glad it has for me! It's a great drug that's been around a long time, and it's affordable.Read More Read Less

I noticed some calmness with everyday issues, BUT, there was no change with my anxieties with driving in the car or large crowds of people.

My Dr dioaised me with pmdd many years ago when my children where young and I take 1/3 of 15mg twice a day 3 times if overly anxious about something.10 days before my period in my 20s I started taking with exercise and under a Drs care.I stopped taking for about 10 yrs and started back about 4 yrs ago after beginning pre- menopause my syptoms had turned to PMDD and I find that I use it now to keep a balance in my life and it keeps me from miscommunicating anixity to others as well as myself.Much better then antidepressant and little or no side affects.Read More Read Less

Seasonal Depression - Switched from Lexapro b/c of side effects. Felt tingly and dizzy about 1/2 hour after taking 5mg. My depression seemed worse and had suicidal thoughts. Only used it for a short time, Dr recommended increasing dosage but I was afraid of how I was acting so I switched back to Lexapro...feeling better hopefully side effects will not return

Have extreme anxiety due to being a type A personality & a perfectionist. Have tried several different meds including xanax and antidepressants and this has worked the best. (Xanax worked too, but dr. wouldn't prescribe anymore.) It took about 2 wks, but now zero anxiety, I don't get stressed. Don't yell at the kids and my employees don't think I'm crazy anymore. AND my husband is also very pleased in the change. I am also sleeping much better.

After unsuccessful turns at other Anxiety medications, I tried Buspar. Not only did it make me far more anxious than to begin with, it made me hallucinate and even suicidal. My doctor suggested I continue using it. I ended up in the hospital 3 weeks into taking the medication with several problems up to but not limited to shaking, delusions, and forgetfulness. In contrast, Lexapro and Lorazepam worked efficiently for me.

Gives me a very unpleasant light-headed head-achy feeling. Taking twice a day under same circumstances is a pain. Helped to tone down the anxiety but increased depression. I suspect that it is also responsible for my chronic mild nausea (since I didn't have it before).

Took it for 4 months and have just recently stopped after gradually reducing dosage from a maximum of 40 mg. Anxiety has returned, but I also feel more clear-headed -- like I awoke form a foggy period. Pros: - Reduced anxiety as evidenced by no desire to surf web or watch TV at night before going to sleep. (a habit that wasted time and reduced my sleep time). - Effective for social anxiety. It was much easier for me to strike up conversations with strangers and speak up at work. - Temporarily -- while the drug had a central nervous system stimulative effect -- improved my work and life performance. Cons: - made me feel kind of floaty, - reduced perception of physical surroundings, - reduced ability to (or interest in) observe mental operations, - had zero sexual interest, - lacked motivation and drive, - Stimulative effect faded. To summarize, it was effective against anxiety, but at the cost of reduced mental focus. Not a good tradeoff for me. The experience of taking the drug has enabled me (at least for now) recognize a state of anxiety as a state and I am able to give it less importance -- except when in a stressful situation. I believe meditation would be as effective against anxiety, while enhancing clarity and flexibility in mental processes, but the trick is to maintain a meditation schedule. It's not easy for a person with anxiety. Hence the need for drugs -- a blunt-force but easy to maintain solution.Read More Read Less

This medication has worked for me with little side effects. I also take Zoloft with this medication. My anxiety has lessened and I feel more in control.
