I started taking 30mg of Buspar for generalized anxiety and for panic attacks. Adusting to this medication was difficult. I felt manic and had a huge increase in anxiety and panic attacks. I was told that I am very sensitive to it. This lasted for about 2 1/2 weeks then I felt great. Xanax helped me cope during that time. Without it I probably would have gone insane. I have been taking Buspar for 1 1/2 years. At about the 1 year mark I began having a slight increase in anxiety and was advised to increase to 45mg. Over the next three months my anxiety kept getting worse and I ended up taking 60mg (which I split up into six 10mg pills because taking more than that at once makes me extremely dizzy and foggy). Still my anxiety worsened and I have started taking 20mg. Celexa along with the Buspar. I have not completely adjusted to the Celexa (hello, Xanax) so do not know the outcome as of now. I think the Buspar has just stopped working for me. I am sad, besides having to remember to take 6 pills throughout the day that made me dizzy and tired for a while, Buspar worked really well.Read More Read Less

i was prescribed lexapro after being diagnosed with depression and anxiety. the lexapro killed my sex drive and ability to achieve erections and my dr. suggested the buspar. i took it but didnt find it that helpful. after being off all meds for over five months and determined not to go back on anything, i was getting depressed all over again and hadnt had an erection in maybe two months... not that i was really missing it but thought, 'what the hell... might as well try that buspar.' i am quite shocked that within thirty minutes i could feel my libido lift and achieve an erection. i noticed in many of the reviews of this drug it takes perhaps up to six weeks to notice an effect but for now, this is really the only thing i can remember that has gotten me to a point that im interested in sex again. i notice that about 5 to 10 minutes after taking a 10mg dose that my head tingles for a couple minutes... feels like mild electrical branches going off, not painful, just a bit weird.Read More Read Less

i have taken this for a few months and i stopped it once because it made my hands soo shaky. ARPN suggested taking it at night. I only take one 15mg. I dont think it has helped at all. Drs just make me think i'm crazy and prescribe antidepressants. I also take 300mg of wellbutrin which i think has worked. i took lexapro with no change and celexa with no change. I think if i stop the Buspar, i might get the steady back in my hands. i cant type or paint my fingernails. I am afraid to stop it cause it might mess with me even more. At the time it was prescribed, i was having a terrible time with my GI. I had to deal with feeling bad everyday, not knowing if what i ate was going to make me sick, and i had diarrea so bad that i wouldnt even leave town. I lost friends who dont understand. Since i had a EGD/Colonoscopy and was put on hyoscyamine and prevacid, i am doing much better. I look at all the bottles in my cabinet and thing to myself, I am 25 i should be living it up instead of sleeping or being alone. I have noticed that too, i used to be really outgoing and fun and now i would rather stay home. Mood wise the Wellbutrin has helped. i think i will stop the Buspar. Seems like a waste of money.Read More Read Less

I've had anxiety so awful I could barely leave the house, I've taken many other drugs and had this with the best result. Barely any side effects with great results - the worst side effect for me is I get hungry after taking it.

I was taking an antidepressant by itself for 3 years when the effectiveness began to decrease. I added a low dose of Buspar and am feeling like a million bucks without all the funky side effects & withdrawal symptoms.

Medication makes me feel very lightheaded when taken with food. Has completely stopped my night sweats and sleeplessness. Has helped tremendously with anxiety and being startled so easily.

This IS without a doubt the WORST medication EVER made, it's HORRIBLE in that it CAUSES THREE TIMES as MUCH anxiety as the actual syndrome, yet, certain physician's call to arms? " Just give it time, it takes awhile" and, GOD FORBID, you say your an alcoholic and need help with anxiety YOU WILL NOT get it,ergo, I stopped telling Drs about my recovery except for the pain clinic (BLESS THEIR PROGRESSIVE, UNDERSTANDING YETCAREFUL HEARTS!), which told me so what if I'm a recovering alcoholic, that DOES NOT MEAN Ihave to LIVE WITH PAIN. HOWEVER< it does mean that one usually has to live with anxiety because MOST Dr.'s WILL NOT PRESCRIBE THE BEST HELP..BENZODIAZEPEINES, ALTHOUGH THEY'RE ARE LONGER ACTING BENZOS WITH LESSOF A HISTORY IF DEPENDENCE..KLONOPIN! THANK GOD FOR A VERY UNDERSTANDING PSYCHAIRTRIST WHO MONITORS MY MEDS VERY CAREFULLY JUSTASTHEPAI CLINIC DOES, AS I HAVE TO USE OPIODs at home,PLUS I have a morphine PUMP, BUT, Because ofKlonopin and thepain meds,I have a LIFE TODAY, something I would not have had I stayed with Dr. P. H. ,and other TOLEDO HACKS who made my life a LIVING HELL, or whose non-prescribing OR prescribing utterly ancient Tricyclates for anxiety, etc made me MORE NERVOUS and MADE IT HARDER TO CONCENTRATE and HARDER to SLEEP, EAT, and FUNCTION. IT, all told TOOK 8 YEARS oF HORROR TO FINALLY GET SOMEONE TO LISTEN, so the pain clinic came up with a combination of meds that literally sent my back painfrom a 11 toa4, AND DR.P.H. of TOLEDO,wanted IMMEDIATELY TO CHANGE IT,it wasatthispoint we parted ways, as I wanted someone who cared, not someone with MIOPIC, almost AUTISTICvisionon theETOH abuse, which was so far BACK in my past anyway!Read More Read Less

I was suffering from major anxiety and panic attacks constantly and to the point where it started to take over my life. I was put on clonazipam, valium, and many types of anti-depressants over the years but nothing has been as effective. I don't feel groggy or tired and am able to deal with tough situations much better. The only thing it doesn't do is help the insomnia. My dose is 15 mg 3 times a day.

before taking Buspar, I was tense, had trouble sitting still very long, crabby, and had a "knot" between my shoulder blades. After a few weeks on the medication my anxiety was greatly reduced and I am able to function more efficiently. Tense situations don't bother me nearly as much and I've had comments made to me about how calm I seem to be, but I'm never feeling like I'm over drugged.

Dizziness, muscle pain, headache, malaise were the most common side-effects that have occurred. No withdrawl reactions. Actually, I felt much better when stopping this medicine.

I take the smallest dose necessary to function. I still have panic attacks, but they are controlled and short lived. I can live with that. I have a life now!
