Ihave been on 3 different types of birth control for "21" years! I started when I was 18 to control my periods with Ortho-Novumm 7-7-7. In my 20's I tried the Depo shot and it worked well with and was convenient but expensive. Now that I am getting older, I am on Lutera and have been for over a decade and it is considered a ver low dos pill. The less estrogen as you get older, the better. The...

Dear reviewers: I was on Sprintec but the pharmacy only had the generic of Mononessa. I always had breakthrough bleeding and very moody but periods were very light. I didn't like the bleeding so my doctor just put me on Lutera so we will see. I'm not really understanding most of your comments. More hormones means more side effects. Lutera is a lesser dose than most so should have less side effects. It's common sense. I would think that maybe your acne or moodiness could be related to something else. But, I am open to seeing what happens. Maybe I will eat my words.Read More Read Less

yes, it works, im not pregnant BUT i don't recommend it. I have been on it for six months thinking that my hormones would get used to it after a while. boy was i wrong. since i started taking in, i have been HIGHLY emotional, way more than usual. as time goes by it just gets worse. from severe mood swings, to depression, to even thoughts of suicide (not serious thought, but still, thoughts) seriously, do not take this pill!

Lutera is the worst medication I have ever been on. It gave me horrible mood swings and depression, and when I got my period, I also had terrible cramps. Once a month I got a painful cyst that hurt like hell, and then pooped after a few days. Stay away from this contraceptive!! I am now on Alesse 28 which works very well for me. Aviane didn't give me any problems either.

I was on Lutera for a year and I thought that I was just turning into a cranky person but after reading some of the reviews I see I'm not alone! I originally started taking Lutera because I had horrible cramps and mood swings. It helped a lot with the cramping but it made very depressed and also gave me a lot of anxiety not to mention it killed my sex drive. It also made my face break out especially right before my period. I just switched to a generic of yasmin and I noticed a differnce within the first week. I feel like myself again, my face has cleared up and my sex drive is back and I am happy.Read More Read Less

I got on this pill 3 months after my doctor advised me to get back on the pill. I had been off YAZ (the worst pill on the market) and never felt better. After 2 packs of Lutera I started having terrible moods swings, decreased sex drive and migraines. I decided to stop taking this in the middle of a pack and now I can't stop crying. I am crying daily and I have insomnia and anxiety. I am normally a very happy person. I hope these crying spells are just a side effect/hormonal imbalance. I would never recommend to stop taking a pack in this middle, but my headaches were that bad. Read More Read Less

I'm on my second pill pack now, and this morning I woke up to find spotting. At first I freaked out, but after reading the potential side effects I figured it was just the side effects setting in. I'm hoping overtime the spotting will stop though, because I hate my period as it is. Another plus of Lutera -shorter periods and less, and no cramps at all. Pretty moody the first week but once my body leveled out things have been fine.

I began this BC for night sweats, even though I'm still young. Within a week I began to feel moody, and I'm not a moody person. I have cramps quite frequently, I feel bloated, fat, and like a pimply teenager. I didn't want to take it the second month, but I thought my symptoms would subside. They haven't. I'm taking myself off the pills in 2 days, after just 2 months.

It has caused me some abnormal bleeding in between periods, but the blood has been bright red. It has also caused me some depression, and detatched feelings. Other than that it has been great, i havnt gained weight, my once extremely painful and heavy periods have become light, pain free and just better overall.

Do not use this birth control pill! I have used it for 2 weeks now and have gotten the worst acne of my life! If you are prone to break out or have oily skin dont use it. It is horrible!

I have only been taking Lutera for about a month now. So far, not so bad. I have had some headaches, my contacts irritate me more, and I have been a little more moody. But nothing too bad. My breast have swelled a little bit, but I have no complaints about that.

I wouldn't recommend this birth control. It caused my face to break out beyond what it ever has before and now I have horrible scaring. I know everyone's different, but I wouldn't wish this to happen to my worst enemy.

This BC has been very effective in regulating my periods. Before taking any birth control, I never knew when my period was coming, I would bleed between 7-14 days, the bleeding was extremely heavy (couldn't change tampons fast enough), and the pain was unbearable. With Lutera, my period now, after over 2yrs of use, only lasts from the last Thur-Sat of my pack and the pain has also significantly decreased. I do get headaches more frequently during the placebo week. I used a different BC prior to Lutera and it did not help at all. Once I started Lutera, it was SUCH A RELIEF!! Don't have many side effects, but they are worth the shorter, lighter periods and less pain.Read More Read Less

This is my third month on Lutera. I used to be on Desogen and within weeks of switching my mood swings had greatly decreased, which I was thrilled about. However, I now get really bad cramps and some of the worst headaches. My sex drive has dramatically decreased (from wanting it 6 or 7 times a week to now maybe once a week if I'm lucky). As well the week before my period I have horrible insomnia and the week of my period I will sleep 10 to 11 hours a night. Also I'm naturally a 32B and with Desogen I became a 32C and with Lutera I am now a 34A. I think I'm going to go back to the doctor to try another BC.Read More Read Less
