I have been on this medication for 3 weeks and I am very please so far. Only side affect is the swelling of my left wrist, which is tolerable. My readings have improved immensely. I feared taking any kind of insulin and did not want to do it, also was my fear that I would gain weight, but actually I have lost 5 pounds in the three weeks that I have been on it. I also exercise regularly. The nee...

Like many of the reviews, I too am not impressed by this drug. B/c of insurance, had to switch from Lantus -which was working fine - it's sad when they take away drugs that are working -I'll look into fighting insurance. I take 35 units at night, take 1.2+ units of Victoza, and 1000 Metformin at lunch and dinner. I'm in the donut hole and paid over $1000 for Medicine today at Costco. Not to mention, the Levemin flex pen doesn't work at times. I went to doc -told her that I wasn't having good results with Levemir -she was surprised?? A1c was high -very frustrated especially after losing 10 lbs, eating sorta right and dog walking. Why do insurance companies screw with most important thing - our health???Read More Read Less

Type II for a little over 10 years now. Mainly took Metformin (or drugs that contained it) but had major stomach issues even with extended release. Foolishly quite taking all meds for nearly a year but now on Levemir. I inject before bed. Started at 10 units and increased by 3 units until fasting was < 120. It took about 5 days but I stopped at 25 units. I have some itching at injection sites that I will discuss at my next visit. I am 5' 10", 180 pound, and fairly athletic build. I exercised while on Metformin but it didn't help but with Levemir my body's response to working out is insane. Overindulging one evening resulted in a 276 reading. After 30 minutes on my elliptical and 30 minutes of weight training, my post-workout reading was 134... and that's before doing my injection. So far I'm loving Levemir. Read More Read Less

I am having repeated instances of the pen not injecting when pressing the button. Some dosages take several minutes to complete. Thought at first it was my refrigerator was too cold, but even leaving pen out does not help.

My blood sugars have been rising in the past 3 months using Levemir. I've been told that some "batches" are not as good as the rest. I switched to a new pen and my sugars went down dramatically. Has anyone else experienced this and what to do with Levemir that's no good?

I like the other man; 160+ in fasting. Then 220+ other times. Not too much changes. On own and with Nategeline tablets 200+. Will put in more posts at later date of progress with levemire 5 unit.

Sugars were high when I first started using, but have nicely come down in the past week. I had been on lantus, but this is working better. I had some minor side effects when I first started, but they seem to have subsided.

I can not give myself these injections. Don't know how to get over fear of pain from a metal needle gong into body.

I just started the flexpen. Started at 20 in AM with slow release Metformin at night so far up to 30 in AM and not control at all. Best fasting was 158. Sugars go up to 220+ during day. I really watch what I eat very low carbs and low low sugar. Not impressed.

Miracle drug. My A1C was over 20 when first diagnosed and I'm down around 6 now. Worth the pain.

So far it's working got my sugar level down from 100 to 130 in the morning. My A1C before was 8.9. Hopefully this would bring it down to below 7.
