I've been on Loestrin 24 for a while and have had no negative side effects at all! I didn't have any breakthrouh bleeding and my period is super light now! My cup sized increased from a 34B to a 34C in the first 2 weeks on the pill (yay!) and I haven't had ANY of the PMS symptoms I used to. I was one of those girls that missed at least one day of school a month because of cramps, but I've never fe...

My doctor switched me to this birth control from Othro Tri Cyclen because he thought it would be better for me. I have high blood pressure following the birth of my daughter and he though a low estrogen pill would be safer. He told me that I would probably not get my period of this pill because a lot of women don't. Unfortunately, this pill failed the very first month I was on it. We are now p...

The WORST pill I have ever taken! I was on it for almost 3 years. I switched to a generic brand because I had become so unhappy and depressed. I became a hermit. Now that I am off of it and I did not mention it to anyone but everyones been mentioning how happy and pleasant I am and I actually love being around people now and my anxiety is gone. Yes periods were extremely light and short. Most months I didn't even have a period. To be honest I rather have 7 awful period days than being so depressed and mean. I wish I could go back three years ago and never started it but I now have the rest of my life to enjoy.Read More Read Less

After having a baby, I was taking a mini-pill while nursing. Now that my son is eating solid foods and nursing less, it was time to go back to a regular pill. I had previously taken Low Ogestrel, and asked my midwife to write my prescription for that- but for unknown reasons she prescribed Loestrin. I didn't realize I was taking something different at first, the packaging seemed different, but I thought maybe it is because I had taken the generic previously... Anyway, I started to have constant headaches, and severe mood swings. I already deal with depression, and this triggered it big time. My husband had to take some time off of work because I felt so awful- now I was already dealing with some depression, but there was a spike in my symptoms within a week or two of starting this pill. I have also gained 2 lbs- athough that could be because I have felt awful and just want to graze all the time! I have also noticed more vaginal discharge. I left a message with my midwife's nurse today about getting back on Low Ogestrel... she wasn't sure why I got put on this in the first place. I know everyone's experience is different, but please be wary of this pill if you already have any sort of mood disorder. I did not experience these symptoms on my other pill.Read More Read Less

I went on this pill for birth control and because I had horrible, very painful periods. I've been on the pill for two years now without ANY side effects...no weight gain, no irritability...and obviously the birth control part has been effective as well. I have an alarm set on my phone so I take my pill at EXACTLY the same time every day and I never miss a pill.

My doctor recommended Loestrin 24 Fe 3 1/2 years ago, and I have been taking it since. It has worked great for me: no mood swings, no weight gain, and lighter and shorter periods. I couldn't have asked for better. I have recommended it to my friends and family as well. My doctor also gave me two coupon card. One I set up works with insurance and the other one I set it up to work without insurance. It has lowered my monthly bill drastically (and my insurance company still covers it).

I break out in hives anytime I drink alcohol with the iron pill. Also experience itchiness and redness in vagina area at the beginning of the pill for about 10 days. It has been effective. 3 day very light periods have been wonderful. But after 6 months it's time to move on and try something different.

Before I started Loestrin 24 Fe, I was taking a different medication. My periods are normally irregular due to PCOS and I believe because of that, I became pregnant even though I was on the BC. After a missed miscarriage and a D&C, I began Loestrin 24 Fe a month later and I could tell an IMMEDIATE change in my mood, emotional state and physical feeling. I was exhausted, felt anxious and depressed and restless, and had read many reviews of the same reactions that included panic attacks, moodiness, snappy attitudes etc. which led to relationship trouble. While Loestrin works for some, be aware that it could have negative emotional and physical effects on your body. I recommend a change in pill if you begin to experience these feelings...do some research on your pills and listen to your body when you start a new one! I plan on going back to my old pill for the sake of regulating my periods (the reason why I started taking BC), and also taking extra preventative measures for birth control.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Loestrin for about 8 months now, and I absolutely LOVE it! It helped relieve my acne and has really helped with my periods, which before were always regular or heavy. However, when I started taking this pill, I began getting period symptoms, which I had never experienced before. Other than some mild cramping, I have had a really good experience with this pill! It comes in a little, convenient package, and I have an alarm set that goes off every day at the same time so that I can take my pill on the regular. I would strongly recommend this pill, but like a comment below says, not all birth control affects people in the same ways!Read More Read Less

I am 54 yrs old and have been taking Loestrin FE for about 4 years and very satisfied with it. I mainly take it for control of menstrual migrain headaches and I no longer have them since I no longer have periods. This has been great for me.

I switched to this pill from Loseasonique due to that pill being so expensive. Wow. Big mistake. My appetite has increased substantially but worse than that, my mood swings are out of control. I'm angry one minute and then crying the next. I've never experienced anything like it. My boyfriend wants me off this pill as much as I do!! I don't usually review things like this but I am so disappointed in the negative side effects that I am unfortunately going to have to cough up the dough to go back to the more expensive pills. At least I felt like myself on those!Read More Read Less

I set an alarm take this pill at exactly the same time each day. Still have break through bleeding. Overall it is much less than the 21 days of straight bleeding, some days a super tampon every ten minutes! So better.

Very pleased with loestrin 24 fe. I have a history of endometriosis & my 1st ultrasound in May found 2-3cm ovarian cysts on both ovaries and thickening of the uterine lining. Prior to this medication, my periods were heavy, irregular, spotting in between. I started acupuncture, eating and drinking a healthy diet (to lessen the endometriosis), walk everyday, and started the loestrin 24 fe in august of 2012. I just received the results of my ultrasound today (12/5/2012). My ob-gyn said I can get off the loestrin 24 fe and start trying again to get pregnant. She said my uterus is stable, the ovarian cysts did not get bigger, the cysts are so tiny that surgery is not needed. No cancer detected and I am very pleased with the medication. I avoided foods (wheat, soy, dairy, processed foods, refined sugars, flour, caffeine). The medication has helped with my periods come on time, periods are light with a steady flow, no spotting in between periods. I highly recommend this medication along with other healthy methods exercise, diet, homeopathic methods). I also avoided hygiene, shampoo, and skin products high in parabens and harsh chemicals. The only side effect I got from the medication was my breasts were swollen before my periods. Read More Read Less

I started taking this Pill after I was Diagnosed with Fibroids along with Painful periods..I was Hesitant but decided to take it I was on ortho lo before & didnt like it. As I started taking it right off the bat started getting the Brownish Red Discharge which was constant then got what I guess was my period. Then a Few weeks later it started all over again. I developed a cough & shortness of breath which i now believe its from this pill since going off of it that has lessen almost has gone away. I got my period twice in one month & would start off brownish red and then turn into a full blown period. Ive had my period 3xs and was only on this pill for 2 1/2 months.I stopped taking the pill because my period or whatever it was wouldnt stop i had it for over a month. Now that i have stopped I have horrible chest breakout that i have never had before and my face has some breakout too and I rarely have breakouts. Everyones body is different so my experience may not be yours but I would highly suggest people research any Birth Control before using one. I went on the faith of my friends on it and did read reviews but thought the same thing everyones body is different but this one pill i wish i never took. To Cause a constant cough and shortness in breath is scary. Acne will clear itself its just embarrassing and shouldnt happen either. No more Loesting 24fe for me. Read More Read Less

Some of these reviews are ridiculous. Please keep in mind that each medication is different for each person. Just because someone had a bad (or good) experience, doesn't mean you will too!! Anyway, I've been taking this for about 3 years now. My only side effects are frequent yeast infections (i take probiotics to prevent them- works really well) and a slightly decreased sex drive. Overall, I've been satisfied with this pill. I did experience nausea for the first week or so, but that went away. My periods are short and light with minimal cramps. No weight gain or noticeable mood swings. I've struggled with acne my whole life, and this pill has made it a little bit better. Read More Read Less

I definitely recommend this! I switched to Loestrin 24 FE after taking ortho tri cycles for 8 years. I have been on this for a year and the weight I gained with the previous pill melted off and my sex drive came back! The only side effect was some acne right before my period which I've never had before.

This birth control ruined my face. I had the worst acne of life on this pill and it occured on the 12-13th day of the pack. i researched that acne close to the jawline (where mine was) is hormonal. This pill has a high level of androgens that works get from my sex drive, but totally ruins my face. I can not deal with the acne. I recently switched to Azurette. I pray I have a better experience.

This is by far the WORST birth control EVER!! The first 2 months were fine, then I started getting terrible mood swings and depression. And to top it all, I started to get the worst acne of my life! Worse than when I was in highschool! My face was hurting so bad and not even antibiotics were helping until I actually switched the pill. Do not take this pill if you had previous acne problems, it will make it worse after a couple months! And it gets you depressed! STAY AWAY FROM IT!!
