This drug had been very successful in preventing the occurance of manic in my mother for the past 10 years. Now because of her inability to afford this drug, her doctor prescribed something cheaper. Now she is showing signs of manic. She is 70 years old and back to experiencing this disease again.

i was very reluctant to try medication that I needed this was recommended and i took my md advice and I'm glad i did this relaxed me and help me think more clearly

My now 13 yaer old daughter has been on Risperdal for 3 years. It helps her anger outbursts some but makes her sleepy and she has gained lots of weight. She also had difficulty with breast discharge. We are trying to decide if we should take her off. She is having memory problems and not sure why?

My 43-yr-old husbnd has been on this med for 7 yrs. (along w/serzone) for treatment of seizures, depression & psychotic episodes. While the weight gain IS an issue-this has helped control his seizures & psychotic episodes which have been attributed to possible schizophrenia. I can always tell when he's missed a dose because he will have a seizure or a hallucination or his speech becomes slurred & you can't understand his speech.

My son has been on Risperdal .25 MG since being diagnosed with ADHD last year in kindergarten. Although this is now used in a complete regime of other medications and therapy, I am pleased with how it works for him. It helps him to control his anger outbursts and helps to keep his emotions "even" through out the day. The ONLY bad thing we have experienced is weight gain, he has gained 20 lbs in one year. The reoccurence is disturbing

My daughter age6 was put on this to try to get her emotional outburst under control. She's been on it for 4 months now and seems to be doing better. Before risperdol she would cry before going to school, during school(up to 3 hours) and then if you would even mention going to school she was crying. Now she seems much happier. Doesn't cry about school.Not sure if it's the meds or that she finally realized she has to go to school every day even if she cries.

i have had no episodes since using this medication. My only complaint is weight gain.

I was on Risperdal for two weeks for aggression related to Asperger's Syndrome(in 2001).I gained a total of 12 lbs. in 1 month and Lactated when I wasn't pregnant or nursing(which is why they took me off).

I no longer have delusional thoughts or anxiety with paranoia. It is used as a mood stabilizer in conjunction with an antidepressant. I take it with Lexapro an antidepressant before bed, as the riperdal makes me sleepy. I take Provigil in the morning to counteract the sleepiness.

Weight gain is an issue for me. Also my eyes spasm and roll up if strained for an extended period of time. I take cogentin for that.

I've gain tons of weight overnight with this,too many side effects, always dry mouth and tons of dental problems, slowed me down, not enough energy, not good, got to be other kinds, dont like to see what it does to people with bipolar. They dont look well, can tell they is something wrong with them.

I felt that my medication has helped greatly in restoring my mental well being with a very balanced medication regime for treatment in : MPD-schizo-affective, depression, adhd, mild-dementia,etc. i felt that risperdal was a great medication for me and it helped me greatly personally with my schizophrenia after just 2 weeks on the medication along with other meds too.

Took away anger and found happiness

It helps him sleep. He just takes it at night.

This medication caused horrible night terrors every day I have taken it, so much so that I could not remain asleep more than 4 hours a night. The night terrors went away as soon as I discontinued the medicine.

It's like night and day. My son was out of control when he was not on this med and is able to control himself better now that he is on it. Besides all the weight he has gained, it's been a wonderful thing for him.

I got so dizzy, sleepy with slurred speech, after 1- 2mg pill, i couldn't work or take care of my 7 mo/old son. I was completly useless- waste of money
