Still hacking and coughing.This like takin Robitussin No good for sever coughing.

I have been prescribed this medication after coughing constantly for 10 days to the point of almost throwing up.. it made a big difference in terms of suppressing my cough, now it's almost gone after only 3 doses in 24 hours, however, i haven't been able to fall asleep at all... I am very tired, slight cough so I took one dose early in the morning, this will be the only dose for today and I will see if I get to sleep tonight or not..so much for making you drowsy, I wish..

Did not work for 3 nights now. I wake up with cough after 2 hour. Previously used another codeine based medication about 3 year ago that helped me immediately. Upset with this drug.

This has not helped my cough. I have bronchitis, I hoped to get a little sleep, but woke coughing every 1 to 2 hours. This is the second day of use, I feel over the counter daytime Robitussin DM cough medicine helped more.

I have a persistent cough for two weeks, coughing up foam looking stuff, green stuff and Dr. gave me this cough syrup, she said it was the "magic medication" she said to take it at bed time so I could sleep, well, its 1:20 am and I am wide awake, it took about an hour for it to kick in but it gave me upset stomach and energy. maybe its for daytime.

This medication worked very well for my cough and congestion, but holy cow I had the worst dreams/nightmares I've ever had both times taking it and I woke up feeling like I fought a bear in my sleep. This stuff is very potent!!!!

I used this medicine for the 1st time in 1999 and it worked on my cough, Went to the ER today due to my cough, found out that I have the start of strep throat and my tonsils are red and a little bit swollen so I know this will work on the pain from that. yes it tastes really BAD but if you hold your nose or mix it with apple juice it isn't that bad . I can't wait to stop coughing in the middle of the night now. love this stuff!!!

Have had bronchitis for a month and injured several ribs. First two nights it didn't work. Still coughed profusely, and slept two hours each night. Also had horrible nightmares during the few hours I did sleep.

My dry wracking 2 week cough actually injured my ribs! No OTC cough syrup was working, and I didn't get relief until I was given this medication. Just 1/2 teaspoon at bedtime has enabled me to get through the night with restorative sleep and no coughing while the antibiotic is doing it's job to cure the walking pneumonia. I generally don't do well with narcotic pain killers because of the nausea and constipation they cause, but with this small dose I'm doing fine. I upped my fiber and fluids and am eating small amounts frequently and the very mild side effects are quite manageable. I'm very grateful for this medicine.Read More Read Less

I am very pleased with this medicine. I must say once you take it, you will stop coughing and will be soon off to a good sleep. Whether you take it during the day or at night, it will put you to sleep. It helps to control your coughing. I am feeling much better since I started taking it.

I was previously prescribed Cherutussin which was not only effective - but it tasted good and didn't make me gag. Virtussin is - in my opinion - a cheap substitute. I cough harder after taking it than before. It also made me throw up - which is scary. I think this is CHEAP subsitution by drug companies, and if anyone can prove me wrong, please do. It was NOT cheap. A revolting drug. and it doesn't even say where it is made.

Have had bad cough and cold for 3 weeks, yes I'm a procrastinator, and finally went to see Dr. Now have pneumonia and tons of mucus along with cough, couldn't sleep. This worked GREAT, finally asleep before finishing prayers. After two days using only as needed I have only one complaint...BAD DREAMS!!! Glad they aren't real but enjoying ability to sleep. With anti-biotic feeling tons better!!

It worked very well, as far as getting me to stop coughing. I was happy with that aspect. The only down side is that I slept from one on the afternoon when I got the prescription filled until 4 the following morning, so take with caution!!

This medication helped suppress my cough so I could sleep. Recommend using in the evening, may cause drowsiness.

I was told this drug would repress my coughing and allow me to actually sleep but that did not occur. My coughing was as worse as usual and I spent the whole night coughing my lungs out. Again.

I came down with a really bad cold 2 days ago, after 2 sleepless nights and coughing to the point of vomiting I finally went to the doctor. Within minutes of taking this I was barely coughing ate all, I feel normal again!

I was unable to lay down to sleep because of constant cough. After taking Virtussin I was able to lay in bed and sleep. I recommend this medicine for cough suppressant and congestion relief.

Medication worked great for me!!!!

I was happy with the medication. It stopped me from coughing to the point of not being able to breath. It did not give me upset stomach or any other side effects. However, it may of made my mother start puking profusely. Not sure if it's what she ate, since she is also diabetic and high blood pressure, or just because she took the medicine after we got back from dinner and ate things spicy-er than she is use to.

The smell is horrible and it does not taste like a regular cough syrup. I will never buy this again. It didn't help at all.
