I am 65 yrs. old. Have been taking Prempro for approx. 12- 15 yrs. and hope to continue forever. I look and feel great. No side effects that I'm aware of. My Dr. encourages me to stop taking, but I keep telling her, "why fix something that isn't broken". I started out on the highest dose and 3 or 4 yrs ago switched to the lowest dosage. I have no history of breast cancer in my family, it's ...

I normally do not bother to write reviews but after reading all these ladies stories that are so similar to mine inspired me. Well, unfortunately I am one of those ladies that started going through menopause earlier than the "average" person and started experiencing mild symptoms around age 33. With the REALLY bad ones showing up at age 35...the hot flashes, dripping night sweats, mood swings, crying for seemingly no reason at all, REALLY bad anxiety, depression, exhaustion, brain fog, short fuse temper,etc...you get the picture. My DR put me on the lowest dose of Prempro 0.3/1.5mg. Within a few weeks my hot flashes&night sweats improved greatly! However, that's where the good news ends. This medication caused daily headaches that never went away, severe cramping, belly pain, frequent diarrhea, daily nausea and now a period (haven't had one in 5 months).I have taken myself off Prempro for about two days now and am hoping the belly pain stops as it's almost unbearable. I'm going back to the DR to discuss natural options as I do not like the increased risk this pill has for uterine cancer. There's got to be a better way to survive menopause! Ladies as other reviewers have warned, please be careful with this medication! It seemed to work great for me at first but then really bad symptoms began showing up one by one. I had only been on it for 3 weeks total before I had to get off of it. Maybe my body cannot tolerate it as well as some?? But it's definitely not the treatment option for me.Read More Read Less

I only take it every other day - been on it for about 4 years. Was able to control the hot flashed and night sweats with OTC for about a year but then I could not take it anymore. I could not survive without this. Have tried to stop it twice to see if I was past night sweats and hot flashes but they came roaring back. I have not had any side effects but have gained weight which can be from menopause and not just from the medication.

Felt better after a week.Period came back after 3rd week...not happy about this, still spotting after a week of heavy bleeding...will consult with MD if this continues. Will continue taking if spotting is tolerable... Will keep you posted...

I was having extreme mood swings, crying at the drop of a hat, unable to stop, very depressed in the mornings especially not sleeping, hot flashes, etc from menopause. Taking this medication has helped greatly. I'm sleeping through the night, the mood swings are stable, depression about gone, some slight flashes, mostly mornings. I feel much better, almost could say normal! I'm very happy with this medication . It did take an adjustment to a higher level to get the dosage right. I am not afraid of the news reports because they are exagerated; the bad side effects were in women who didn't start taking this till their 60's , I have years to go. Read More Read Less

Have not had my period for 4 months but I was having hot flashes with heart palpitations that was worse at night and kept waking me up at least 15 times a night I was also having night sweats. I went to my OBGYN and she put me on low dose prempro almost immediately it took away the hot flashes but I still get on occasion night sweats. I have been on Prempro for 5 months and have not had any side affects until the last 3 days I started getting leg cramps. I'm thinking of talking to the doctor about going every 2 days and see if the hot flashes return.Read More Read Less

I am 48 and have been in full blown menopause for about a year and a half. I started Prempro about a year ago to alleviate hot flashes, sleep problems and lack of energy/extreme fatigue. It has helped a great deal with hot flashes but that's about it. I still have exhaustion/zero energy (to the point where I want to lay down or sleep all the time ~ exercise is either not possible or makes this symptom worse ~ not as effective at work as I should be), headaches, muscle weakness/aches, EXTREME cravings and weight gain (15 pounds since starting Prempro), depression from lack of motivation and WEIGHT GAIN, lack of interest or joy in activities and occasions I used to enjoy (pre-menopause), crying about anything or nothing at all, anxiety, impatience. I am at the end of my rope. I am examining alternatives to Prempro because it is definitely disappointing. After a year, I figure it has had plenty of time to regulate my hormones to the point of alleviating some of these other symptoms. Gave effectiveness 3 stars only because Prempro alleviated my hot flashes. Gyno says to stay on the Prempro and deal with it. Really????????? Read More Read Less

I have not had a period 1 year. I complained to a doctor about fatigue only, rarely have hot flashes, etc. and he prescribed .625/2.5. I have taken over two weeks but no change in fatigue/energy, I have indigestion, burping, can only eat small amounts of bland food, and have daily headaches. My vision is also blurrier. I think some or all of this is due to Prempro. I will take half a pill another week or two and then may discontinue. I was hoping for relief from fatigue and the energy improvement that others have mentioned but nothing yet. Read More Read Less

No period for 1.5 years, severe hot flashes and did not feel like myself. After 2-3 weeks on Prempro the hot flashes were gone. After 2 months on, I did get mile spotting for 6 days both months. Hoping that goes away.

I was having hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, not sleeping ! After resolving myself to take this medication, it took about 2 to 3 months to get back to normal. The hot flashes went away within a week ! It was very life saving for me.

I took prempro for almost 3 months to see if my migraines would go away. about 2-3 weeks after starting it I experienced back pain, first on the right side in the area of the kidney. felt it slightly on the left the last 2 weeks of taking prempro. had many tests for kidney issues, none found. doc said back pain is not a side effect. at 2 month mark I got migraine for 2-3 days for the next three weeks and back pain kept increasing. could not get comfortable in bed and stopped taking the drug. back pain is nearly gone. I am 99.9% sure the back pain was caused by the prempro. I would not recommend this drug. and I'm probably changing docs now.Read More Read Less

Worked great for 3 yrs. A little weight gain but I think it's due to age and not the Prempro. After 3 yrs. I started feeling cold all the time and took myself off of it. After 2 months the hot flashes started coming back. I went back to the Prempro but only took it every other day. Once again I started feeling cold and also tingly most of the time. It worked great for 3 yrs. but I think I will stop taking it for good.

yes, the hideous night sweats have mostly gone away. However, the serious weight gain for someone who has been lean all her life, is very disturbing. not sure what course to take.

I started having 'change of life' symptoms in Jan 2012. They were mild, and I used OTC meds and was able to manage. In Mar 2013, symptoms started getting progressivlely worse:unable to sleep, hot flashes and awful night sweats, heachache, difficulty remembering things, and fatigue where I could barely get out of bed. I tried every OTC med I could find, altered my diet, exercised more. Nothing helped. I finally threw in the towel and in Sept 2013 asked my OB-Gyn for a low dose hormone replacement. I wish I would have done it sooner. I've been on the meds for 6 wks and all symptoms are gone. I feel better than I have in yrs, and haven't experienced any side effects. I plan to reduce the dosage as I go along(1/2 pills). HRT may not be for everyone, but it sure has worked for me. Read More Read Less

Last year I went to my dr with hot flashes, sleeplessness, irritability, and fatigue. Had no period for a year so I was put on low dose Prempro. IT WAS AMAZING! All the symptoms went away! I had more energy than I had had in years! Then in May I experienced chest pains and bening over 50, my first thought was Heart Attack! Went to the emergency room and after test after test coming back normal, I went to my gynecologist and he took me off Prempro. After a couple of months I had no chest pain , but the menopause symptoms were back. So back to gynecologist and he put me back on Prempro. After only a week my chest pains were back and bad! I have took myself off Prempro and will look for other ways to deal with menopausal symptoms! My advice is don't start Prempro and find other alternatives. Read More Read Less
