Professor Evert J. Dorhout Mees, MD, earned his doctorate at the State University at Utrecht, Holland. He is the former head of the nephrological service, head of the department of nephrology and hypertension, and professor in nephrology at the University Hospital at Utrecht.
Mees served as a visiting professor at Washington University in St. Louis and as a professor in nephrology at Ege University in Izmir, Turkey, the latter until 1998. Mees is a member of the International Federation of Health and Human Rights Organisations and Physicians for Human Rights.
