    Genital Herpes Guide

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease involving herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2. Type 1 usually causes mouth sores, but can sometimes cause genital sores. Type 2 is transmitted by sexual contact with an infected person and causes infection in the genital or anal area. Most infected people have no symptoms but can still pass on the disease. Learning about herpes can reduce risks of infection and transmission.
