Jonathan Lewis, MD, PhD

Jonathan Lewis, MD, PhD, is the chief medical officer and chairman of the medical board of Antigenics LLC, a biotechnology company dedicated to developing novel immunotherapeutic drugs for life-threatening and chronic medical conditions.

Lewis obtained his medical degree from University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and his doctoral degree at Yale University. Before working with Antigenics, Lewis was an attending surgeon in the department of surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Cornell University in New York. Lewis also had a joint appointment on the clinical immunology service in the department of medicine.

Lewis has won numerous awards and honors from University of the Witwatersrand, The Royal College of Surgeons, Yale University, The American Society of Clinical Oncology, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering. He is listed in the Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World, and he is a member of and serves on the committees of several surgical and cancer research societies. A Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, Lewis has been actively involved in research in cancer immunology and was the principal investigator on an Antigenics' study on pancreatic cancer at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. He is widely published and known in the fields of surgical oncology and clinical cancer immunology.
