Pepper Schwartz, PhD

When Pepper Schwartz picked up her PhD in sociology and began teaching in 1972 at University of Washington, the ... ah ... in's and out's of human sexuality were a man's pursuit and decidedly one sided, if not one position. With a flash of sass, Schwartz went where few woman had gone before and shook up the sexual establishment by bringing a degreed and modern woman's view into the ... ahem ... academic bedroom. Not surprisingly, many a good ol' professor was displeased, but not Schwartz's supporters who knew it was time for a change. Ten books later, she's not only an expert on human sexuality and relationships, but Schwartz is still shaking up the stuffy status quo with her ideas, such as cyber sex can be good for you. She writes for magazines such as Glamour and American Baby and lives with her husband on a llama/horse ranch in Washington's Snoqualmie Valley.
