I was diagnosed with insulin resistance, as my fasting sugar was 135. My doctor prescribed a statin drug to help with my triglycerides, which were around 280. I bought a meter to check my own glucose levels, and even after a change in diet and exercise, I noted the the fasting levels climbing higher. I went off the statin and a man I work with told me about bitter melon. By the third day of tak...

I find taking one tablet per day over 1-2 days I develop very bad vulva itching. Very uncomfortable itching that was never there in the first place. Had to discontinue the treatment.

I've been tested for diabetes with negative results however when I eat carbs or sugar I immediately go into a comatose state barely keeping my eyes open. I took one pill 1 hour before eating a rich pasta meal and I am wide wake with plenty of energy. This is huge because I've been dealing with this for years. I will take this bottle of 60 and rereview.Karela 250 mg by Himalaya

I live in a thread worm and hook worm endemic area. I was battling an infestation for five years and with prescribed medications could not get rid of. I sampled a dish containing a raw bitter melon mixed with a scrambled egg. About one hour later it seemed as though they all passed. I now eat the dish regularly and have not had symptoms since.

This has worked VERY well in reducing my blood glucose levels. I started at 220 - next day 179 - next day 152 - next day139.My evening glucose has been about 119 - which is really good for me right now. It's been high for a long time. I got a box of it called - Sugar Balance - at the 99 Cent Store. The box says take 3to6 tablets a day. HUGE green pill. I only take 2 - BUT if my nightly sugar is high I take a third one right before bed. I've taken a lot of meds to try to control this. This by far is the best "natural supplement" type of product that's ever worked well. I'm convinced. Bitter Melon is really amazing. I haven't changed what I've eaten OR exercised more. It's incredible how well it's worked for me right from the very first day taking it. I hope it works as well for you. Try it. It's where the supplements and aspirin are at the 99 cent store. Spend a buck on yourself just to see. I'll bet you'll be quickly amazed too.Read More Read Less

i have been eating bitter melon for about 3 months. I eat 1 a day, cut the ends off and clean out the seeds. My cut sheet shows, my blood sugar level lowering in direct proportion to the amount of BM I eat. My numbers are constantly around 100-115, I have stopped taking oral meds. and only use 6 units of insulin a day.Now I make smoothies, with bananas, tangerines, grapes, yogurt, and it is much more palatable.1 full melon, about 7" long, and what ever fruit I throw in, the fruit has not effected my numbers.I see a time when I will no longer need insulin.Read More Read Less

I have been using Bitter Melon pills or tea since being diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. It has helped drop my blood sugar up to 30 points. Works very well every time. I am very cautious with it and only use when needed to lower my blood sugar. Tea is very pleasant and works very well, but pills seem to work well too.

It has been able to help me down from the 350+ range. Now seldom see 200. Started working immediately for me. I do not take any prescriptions. I monitor blood sugar carefully. Now on no sugar, very low carbs. I take 1200 mg of bitter melon in pill form four times a day. I test my blood sugar 4 times per day or more. I started on 1- 450 mg pill at first, three times per day. Slowly increased mg's. Bitter melon has done wonders. Cinnamon did nothing for me. I must be type 1. I'm 6 foot and down to 230 lbs after one month of knowing I was in trouble with my blood sugar. Weight goal is 215 lbs. I think that and modest exercise will help a long way. If you decide to try bitter melon, start slow and monitor blood sugar as you go. Be safe. Good luck to all... Eddie B.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and was put on metformin to prevent me from becoming diabetic. I discovered the bitter gourd and started taking it and stopped the metformin. my blood sugar is now well under control e.g. on mornings between 4.7 and 5.4 and after breakfast and 2 hour fast 5.5-6.2. I am so happy with the results I thought I should share it with others.

I have been diagnosed diabetic for 4 years. I was using prescribtion drugs without much success then I heard about this vegetable. After the first use my blood sugar drop from about 12 to 8. The only side effect I might have developed was a mild belly ache.

I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes in 2005. I'm on Byetta 10mg, Metformin 500mg, Glimepiride 4mg. There have been a few times that my blood sugar was over 200 and I made some bitter melon tea. One hour later my blood sugar was down by 40 points. It seems to be working for me, to lower my blood sugar.
