I ahve been taking Castor Oil instead of Cascara Sagrada and other natural supplements because I was told that Cascara darkens the Colon when given a Colonoscopy. CAstor Oil is not the best tasting thing however it relieves my constipation within hours of taking it and I feel really thorough relief. I highly recommend it.

WARMING: DO NOT PUT CASTOR OIL IN YOUR EYES! I see many traditional remedies and online home remedy forums recommending putting castor oil drops into your eyes-- don't! Castor oil is a known cytotoxin, and putting castor oil directly into the eyes will cause optic tissue and nerve damage, and eventually vision loss. See, for instance, a 2007 study that you can read on the National Institute of Health webpage: "Castor oil is the commonly used lipophilic vector but has been shown to be cytotoxic." From "Results": "castor oil was shown to induce significant necrosis and P2X7 cell death receptor and caspase 3 activation "Conclusion": "The results demonstrated that castor oil exerts cytotoxic effects on conjunctival cells. This cytotoxicity could explain the side effects observed in some patients using eye drops [including Restasis] containing castor oil as a vehicle." (Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2007 Nov; 48(11):5000-6.) This is not an animal study, but a study on human cells. Please, please do not risk this. We are talking about permanent, irreparable damage to your eyes. Always check with an ophthalmologist before putting anything in your eyes.Read More Read Less
