My husband has been suffering with depression, mood swings, social anxiety, ADHD, irritability, weight gain, etc. for the past 8 years. At first we thought it was hypothyroidism, but his levels didn't register high enough on his blood chem test to alarm the doctor enough to give him an Rx (even though he has the tell-tale sign of thinned eyebrows). Recently, we came across an article about the sym...

I was having bad reverse reactions to every depression medical given to me. I happened across L-Tryosine in a health food store and since using it my ability to concentrate has shot up and I have around the clock energy. I am more positive and my ability to control my emotions has also improved.

For the people who have benefited from taking tyrosine supplements but experience low libido, take cocoa powderand maca daily. You'll be feeling great in that department!

This was a real surprise. I began taking L-Tyrosine to try to restore my sense of smell. What I found, however, is that my mood significantly improved--without side effects. I take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with a full glass of water.

I started out taking 500mg L Tyrosine and 500mg L Tryptophan but still had slight symptoms. Because I had read an article that said you need to find a balance,( take just the amount you need )Since my brand only comes in 500mg capsules, nothing smaller, I cut back by taking 500mg every other day. It worked wonderfully with no symptoms. I decided to skip two days because I wanted to take just what I needed and I still felt great. I'm thinking of skipping three days soon. If it don't work I will go back to skipping two days. I'm so grateful that I don't suffer anymore. I think it's best to take only as much as you need. Hope this helps the people who so desperately need help.Read More Read Less

I take 2 thyroid RX but still didn't feel well (suffer with fatigue and insomnia). I read about L-Tyrosine in some of my research and tried it. When I take the supplement as directed I no longer have the fatigue and the insomnia is greatly improved.

have suffered depression and panic attacks all my life. was finally diagnosed with bipolar, depression & PTSD. was on Epilim for 10 years and various other drugs prescribed by psycologists until went looking for an alternative to being zoned out all the time. was referred to Dr Sandra Cabot who started me on L Tyrosine by Cabot Health, in the morning and SAD at night. She suggested hypnotism for the panic attacks. its been over a year and amazed and very happy with the posative results

Tyrosine is super helpful for supporting the thyroid...if you are hypothyroid. Also gives me increased focus, clearer thinking, energy and positive mood. I take 500 mg 2x a day. I highly recommend to always take a higher quality form of Tyrosine or any supplement...a purer form will be far more effective because there are no fillers or additives.

I read an article written by Jim Carey, the comedian, that was in a magazine in a herb shop about how he was tortured by depression. Doctors put him on 500mg L tyrosine and 500mg L tryptophan a day, taken on a empty stomach, and it changed his life. It saved my life from excessive grieving, feeling afraid, being uncomfortable with existence, not being able to get started doing anything, including brushing my teeth, always feeling like something terrible was about to happen, afraid to be alone, feeling like the world was closing in on me and I couldn't stand for it to get dark outside. That was just some of it. I felt like what I did during the day , wasn't enough and I should have done something else. I was tortured and I thank god for Jim Carey. My life has been normal for two years now. It works by making serotonin in the brain which also helps sleep.Read More Read Less

I started taking L-tyrosine the very day I stopped taking my drug of choice. Usually depression is unbearable. This time while taking the L-tyrosine, I had very mild depression and I was able to combat the depression with L-tyrosine as well with vitamin D3. It truly is a miracle! I'm 16 days clean today. And L-tyrosine has helped in every way. I actually have energy. I thank God sooo much for this supplement! I take 500 mgs first thing in the morning, and 500mgs before eating lunch. I would also like to add - if I do get anxiety, I recommend taking a supplement called GABA. This works wonders. Read More Read Less

After taking my 10 year old off of ADHD medication because it altered her personality, she fell into a depression. I began putting tyrosine into her morning smoothies to increase dopamine production. We saw improvement almost immediately! She was herself again!! However, after a small amount of time she became unable to sleep. After figuring out that Tyrosine could be the cause we eliminated it from her smoothie and right away her ability to go to sleep returned.. We were only giving her around 1/4 of a 200mg pill first thing I the morning. If you do need to use it for a child, make it temporary!!!!Read More Read Less

Recently, we came across an article about the symptoms of low dopamine and how L-Tyrosine is a natural supplement. He happened to be in a major depression the day I picked up his first bottle, and he chewed and swallowed the pill in desperation as soon as I returned to the car. He felt the effects within minutes, and I could SEE the change for the rest of the day! He took 500mg the next morning and again in the afternoon. Everything was finally normal and things didn't bother him! L-Tyrosine even helps a bit with hypothyroid too, so everything has gotten better. We have finally found the answer to his chemical imbalance without a psychologist, expensive prescriptions, and all their harmful side effects.Read More Read Less

Hating that gut-awful feeling as soon as I wake in the morning (depression) I decided to do something about it. My daughter is a nurse at a retirement home for the disabled and she told me doctors were giving this to patients who had problems with depression in lieu of drugs. Ha! It works! I still have some depression but not as bad as it was. I take one each morning and it lasts all day.

I can honestly say I've seen major improvements when taking this supplement. I've been plagued with anxiety/ADD for years and meds don't help nearly as much as this does. I've noticed improved mental clarity, sustained energy, less nightmares and just makes me feel really great overall. I might get a dull headache and it does keep you up a few years extra hours, but it's worth it compared to the side effects of taking prescription meds.

I took 1000 mg Tyrosine daily for several months. I gradually developed significant pain in my elbows and knees. I had less discomfort in my ankles and big toe joints. When I stopped Tyrosine, the discomfort decreased. After about a week off Tyrosine, I have far less discomfort. This, of course, is anecdotal; however I am convinced there was a relationship. (It was beneficial regarding depression.)

Used for focus, motivation and energy while studying. Dose by mouth: 6000mg to 10000mg / day for ten days (empty stomach, first thing in the morning), then reduced to 2500mg / day. Sometimes an additional buccal dose last thing at night ( approx 500mg) Result: Takes about a week to start working well. Sustained energy, confidence and drive. Need much less sleep. Feel full before end of normal plate of food. If also in physical training... increased drive, strong, harder, leaner physique. Mood: If things are going well generally, more energy and enjoyment. But if there is anything to worry about... this triggers a tendency to worry about it even more.Read More Read Less

This works surprisingly well for my annoying combination of dysthmia and mild-moderate ADHD if I take 1 gm with 200 mg SAMe, and 100 mg caffeine (1/2 no-doz tab) first thing in AM and no eating for at least 30 min.
