It is a natural alternative to artificial sweetners yet safe for diabetics. I use it mainly to sweeten cereals and coffee and it provides a good flavor.

I use NuNaturals Stevia Liquid as a straight replacement for sugar. I think it's really great! Tastes very good, no aftertaste or anything. Personally I can't believe anybody uses sugar for anything, or even fellow diabetics that have had problems with other sugar substitutes. I usually drink decaf tea or herbal tea sweetened with stevia. I did diet soda for a while, which was okay but I'm just not interested in it anymore. One of the more pleasant things about being diabetic! I'm a Type II diabetic, ad it runs in the family. I've lost 50 lbs., and my blood sugar is quite acceptable (110 or less) almost all the time now. It's okay to be diabetic, better than having hemorrhoids.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with "pre-diabetes" and insulin resistance, and have eliminated all forms of sugar from my diet. I switched from Splenda to stevia several months ago, seeking a natural sweetener. About two weeks ago, I began to have abdominal cramping off and on. This week other symptoms have hit me, to the point that today I had to call in sick: Flu-like muscle aches, nausea, abdominal cramping, dizziness, headache, spells of rapid heartbeat and leg cramps. I thought I was just grasping at straws in wondering if stevia was the culprit. I mean, it's NATURAL, right? (So is oleander, but it'll still kill you if you eat it!)Unfortunately, a little internet research turns up loads of similar complaints from stevia users. It figures - I finally find a good all-natural sweetener that doesn't trigger an insulin response ... and I'm intolerant it. Well, okay then - guess I'll try coconut nectar.Read More Read Less

8 year stroke survivor, migraines and lupus. I take 14 medications daily so I'm pretty diligent about researching side effects and interactions. Have gained weight over the years due to perm damage of strokes and the different facets of lupus - am unable to get much exercise. I eat very healthy but need my morning coffee sweetened. Had been using spenda in each of my 3 cups each morning. About two weeks ago I decided to try stevia to help with my attempts at weight loss. Tasted quite good. Have been in a lupus flare for about a month, and just finished a dose pak of prednisone. Due to the aroused lupus symptoms I didn't even realize that I'd been building up to a allergic reaction to the stevia. Hands and feet swelling (pins n needles), eyes puffy and irritated and face getting a little redder each day. Inside lips felt swelled and throat was even a sore, a little dificulty swallowing - felt somewhat better as each day went on. BUT last night I had a cup of coffee with stevia (very rarely drink coffee in evening). Awoke 4am with burning red face. Arose for the day at 9:30. I could feel all the symptoms getting stronger as I was drinking coffee. Finally realized/recognized that it must be an allergic reaction to the stevia! Made worse by the late evening coffee! Poured out my third cup and headed to the ER for treatment. Sometimes we get so used to how our bodies feel that we don't immediately recognize new effects/symptoms. Read More Read Less
