Veramyst Nasl Uses
This medication is used to treat seasonal and year-round allergy symptoms (such as stuffiness, runny nose, itching, and sneezing) in adults and children 2 years and older. It may also help to reduce other symptoms of seasonal allergies such as red, itchy, and watery eyes. Fluticasone is a corticosteroid. It works directly on the passages in the nose to reduce swelling and inflammation.
How to use Veramyst NaslRead the Patient Information Leaflet for instructions on the proper use of this medication. Read it before you start using fluticasone and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Shake the container well before each use. Follow the instructions on how to correctly prime the bottle if you are using it for the first time, if you have not used it for 30 days, or if you have left the cap off for more than 5 days.
Use this medication usually once a day as directed by your doctor. Gently blow your nose before using this drug. Do not use more than 2 sprays in each nostril daily because doing so may increase the risk of side effects. Avoid spraying this medication in your eyes or mouth. Follow the detailed instructions for using the spray and cleaning the applicator.
Dosage is based on your age, medical condition, and response to treatment. Younger children need a smaller dose and help from an adult to use this medication. Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day. Do not use this drug more often, increase your dose, or use it for longer than prescribed.
Keep track of the number of sprays used from each container. Discard the container after you have used the number of sprays written on the manufacturer's package.
This medication does not work immediately. It may take several days before you get the full benefit of this drug. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
Veramyst Nasl Side Effects
Nosebleeds, irritation of the nose, or sores in the nose may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Using corticosteroids in the nose for a long time may infrequently cause fungal infections of the nose or throat. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop any of the following: fever, pain in the nose, severe sore throat, pain when swallowing, white patches on the back of the throat.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur: severe nosebleeds, severe pain in the nose, whistling sound while breathing, vision changes.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

Veramyst Nasl Precautions
Before using fluticasone, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to the preservative benzalkonium chloride; or if you have any other allergies.
This medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: sores in your nose, recent injury/surgery on your nose.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: tuberculosis (TB), untreated or current infections, herpes infection of the eye, decreased adrenal gland function, certain eye problems (glaucoma, cataracts), severe liver disease.
Avoid exposure to chickenpox or measles infection while taking this medication unless you have previously had these infections (e.g., in childhood). If you are exposed to either of these infections and you have not previously had them, seek immediate medical attention.
Rarely, it is possible this medication will be absorbed into your bloodstream. This may have undesirable effects that may require additional corticosteroid treatment. Children and those using this drug for an extended time may be at higher risk, especially if they also have serious medical problems such as severe infections, injuries, or surgeries. This precaution applies for up to 1 year after stopping use of this drug. Tell your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur: vision problems, persistent headache, increased thirst or urination, unusual weakness or weight loss, dizziness. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details, and tell them that you use (or have used) this medication.
Caution is advised when using this drug in children. Though it is unlikely to occur with corticosteroids applied in the nose such as fluticasone, this medication may temporarily slow down a child's rate of growth, but it will probably not affect final adult height. Monitor your child's height periodically.
During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Veramyst Nasl Interactions
Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: other forms of corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone taken by mouth, inhaled triamcinolone), drugs affecting the removal of fluticasone from your system (potent CYP 3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole, ritonavir).

Veramyst Nasl Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US National Poison Hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canada residents can call a provincial poison control center.

Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., regular eye exams) should be performed periodically to monitor your progress or check for side effects. Consult your doctor for more details.
Avoid allergens that may be the cause of your symptoms. Some common causes of allergies include pollen, animal dander, dust mites, and mold.
MISSED DOSE:If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
STORAGE:Store upright with the cap on at room temperature between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company for more details about how to safely discard your product.
