NARRATOR
Eric's a guy who keeps himself pretty together. With the help of his stylist, Ray, he doesn't allow his thinning hairline to be the first thing you notice about him.

RAY VAUGHN
So tell me what you're looking for.

ERIC
I was thinking about shortening it up just a little bit and maybe--

NARRATOR
Cut it short.

RAY VAUGHN
The worst thing I think a thinning hair man can do is to take their hair and comb it from one side to another.

NARRATOR
It's true. Keeping your hair neat and trim is your best bet for toning down that bald spot. And dude, don't rule out letting your stylist add some color, especially if you've never done it before.

RAY VAUGHN
Yeah, it will make it look a little thicker.

NARRATOR
But the wrong shade can make your situation much worse. If you go too dark, you might create too much contrast between the scalp and the hair. But if you go too light, it might be less effective at covering the scalp. Trust your stylist to help pick a flattering tint that actually looks natural. Next, pick the right product, like mousse.

RAY VAUGHN
You massage it in, and it does make the hair look a little fuller.

NARRATOR
Gel, on the other hand, clumps your hair together, making the scalp more exposed, and attracting even more unwanted attention by leaving you with a shiny head.

RAY VAUGHN
Hey, we're not in the '80s anymore. Let's stay away from the gels.

NARRATOR
If the bald spot still bothers you, there's always the spray on option.

RAY VAUGHN
I'm not going to be a fan of that.
