I have Insomnia for over a year now (could not sleep at all). Offcourse used sleeping pills and my doctor discribed anti-depressiva. But i don't have a depression so i don't want to take them..Only one thing helps and that is L Tryptophan (800 - 1000mg). (Tried 5HTP as well). It puts me to sleep! 6 hours sleep for me know! Little bit side effects like: sometimes a little sleepy during the day, hea...

I have recently lost my husband due to a subdural hematoma. I started taking L-triptophan to assist in depression and sadness and feel it has helped immensely. I would recommend it for anyone going through grief.

I have found this to be a relatively effective treatment, but only alongside a regiment of B-12/Rx sleep aid-Zopiclone 5mg. Combinations as directed by an MD you are comfortable with. SSRI&SNRI treatment resistant patients seem to respond well, including myself. Side affects are minimal compared to traditional anti-depressants, this with lifestyle change and good therapy(cbt/psychological) has worked well. Balancing these does take I find appx one year. Med view & patient. The research field of anti-depressants is still in its infancy, and some find it to be a bit invasive, thus fear it, treatment resistance is a difficult thing, however there are treatments such as these that can work, we need only to give it time for more detailed research to come forth, a difficult endeavor in itself as it is not Rx in many places, OTC are regarded in a neg way by those who prefer to prescribe more traditional pharmacological treatments. I think this drug has great potential, under the guidance of an MD and support team(Multi-disciplinary). Read More Read Less

Eliminated the need for me to be taking large doses of injectable progesterone for my serious PMS, back before it was banned. Now it's back and I take it for other things but I highly recommend it to anyone with severe PMS.

L-Tryptophan was suggested to me by my chiropractor when I began suffering from hot flashes which would awaken me. Following the hot flashes, I had difficulty falling back to sleep. I take three L-Tryptophan capsules 30 minutes to one hour before bedtime. By bedtime, I am feeling relaxed and slightly drowsy. Although I am still awakened by the hot flashes, I am now able to easily drift back to sleep. I awake in the morning feeling refreshed and in a pleasant mood...no "drugged" aftereffects which I have experienced with other OC sleep aids. My husband would highly recommend L-Tryptophan on my behalf! Read More Read Less

I have used this product for help in falling asleep sooner and it actually worked well. I tried many other OTC products for sleep and done have worked as well. Sometimes I do feel a little sluggish in the morning, but it is rare. Plus I seem to have a better mood after using this for a while. Not sure if it is a coincidence or the added seratonin that comes from the ingredient l-tryptophan.

I have suffered from severe migraines since Jr. High. In 1985, had another cat scan and the neurologist prescribed this. I took it daily and after 3mos my migraines stopped. In 1990, I was told it was taken off the market. A few months after I ran out my migraines came back. Last year, Swanson Vitamins came back with it and I have been migraine free since back on them, with the acception of a series of mri's and xrays one day at the hospital which brought a migraine on but it was gone by noon the next day. If it wasn't for them, the migraine would have lasted the usual 1-2 weeks. I have no side effects from it and I live with chronic pain daily on alot of meds. Doesn't interact with any of them.Read More Read Less
