3 years I developed irregular heart rate due to autoimmune thyroditis (or maybe due to the Synthroid I have to take every day). My heartbeat was like Morse code, and had the tendency to stop for several seconds and start again, cca 20 hrs a day. I was told there was no medication for it. I found a german study online that treated older folks with taurine for the uneven beat and arginine to elimina...

I had trouble with bad dreams, feeling lost, flunking school, etc. After taking Taurine, 500 to 1000 mg. daily, dreams are gone. I feel better overall. I have glaucome and my pressure was unexpectedly up but my one cararact seems improved so will experiment with dosage.

I have been taking around 3 grams daily for four months now, after reading about a study at the Columbia University, US, of its effects. I am 68 years of age and healthy anyway, but I have found my libido has increased, and I feel much more lucid day to day along with greater energy levels and feeling of well-being. I walk a lot and have found my stamina levels over 10 mile have increased, and it has given me more confidence in my physical capabilities I plan to take it for the rest of my life and wish I had discovered it years ago. Taking Taurine for 5 weeks now 3 1000mg capsules a day. Weight down from 260 to 243, change in how much I want to eat as well as the foods that I choose to eat, much healthier choices now. 62yo female, with diabetes and hypertension. Also find it very helpful for sleep.

I'm a 59 year old woman. I have been having PVCs for many years, and for the last couple of years, I have been having 30,000 a day! My cardiologist has put me on different meds - Beta blockers and calcium channel blockers - and has increased and increased the dosages on them, but they never work for long and soon my PVCs are back up at 30,000 a day. It got even worse, and I was in the ER 4 times in a month with ventricular tachycardia, which they said could have killed me if I hadn't gone to the ER. Scared and frustrated that the medical response was so unhelpful, I did some web searching which led to one study that eliminated PVCs in people by using mega doses of taurine. I have been taking it as a powder, slowly increasing from 1 gram a day to now 3.75 (3/4 tsp) a day, split into 4 doses through the day. I have not been to the ER since. My PVCs are all but gone! I might have one every now and then. It is nothing short of miraculous. I felt like I was slowly dying. The medical community's solutions would have done nothing to address the actual problem - a taurine deficiency. I now understand that taurine is important in regulating the electrical activity in the heart, partly through balancing electrolytes (my potassium was also very low, and is no longer). Other symptoms are also changing - muscle wasting, accelerated aging, dry and papery skin. I am shocked that cardiologists no nothing about this. It's such a simple and health increasing solution!Read More Read Less

Began taking Taurine capsules 7 weeks ago. Started at 1000mg capsule a day for several days then 2000mg every 8 hours for several days then upped it to 3000mg every 5 to 6 hours. Noticed lack of appetite within 2 weeks and change in food habits to the healthier choices also wine was of interest anymore. Weight began at 132.4 fat 30%. 7 weeks later weight is 121.7 fat 26%. I am 66 yo and have been trying to lose weight for 10 years with nothing working until taking Taurine. I have a degree in Microbiology and did 10 years of research so I know not to change more than 1 item at a time to avoid confusion as to what is working. Beyond the incredible weight loss and fat loss in hips and thighs not upper body is strength in nails never had, clarity of thought, serenity and calmness, better sleeping, hamstring nerve pain is completely gone as well. Hearing seems to have improved as well. But the most impressive and first results were weight and fat loss. I've done some intense reading on Taurine and am amazed how little I knew about the amino acid and apparently how deficient I am in Taurine for mostly likely a very long time. Will be taking taurine 3 gm forever.Read More Read Less

I just took it about an hour ago for palpatations. It's way too soon to tell, but I noticed that I feel very calm cuz I keep yawning and I rarely yawn and especially not every five minutes. I took 1,000 mg. Ive been having bad palpatations recently. Been to doctor and wore heart monitor. Taking 500 mg magnesium not helping yet. So am trying this now. I am female age 75. Will write more if the palpatations go away.

Took 500mg a day for a week and had conflicting effects. On the one hand, it increased my energy, raised my libido and generally markedly improved my mood. But on the other, it worsened my already problematic insomnia - couldn't get more than 4-5 hours of sleep per night. I read that it takes the body about 70 hours to excrete 1/2 of the ingested dose, so accumulated level in tissues may be rather higher than a single dose may indicate. I may try taking the supplement once every 2-3 days. If it helps with the dosing, I am 45 y.o., 5'5" in height, and weigh about 145 pounds.Read More Read Less

A year ago I discovered that the combination of Magnesium, Taurine, and L-Argenine remedied 'unprovoked' atrial fibrillation episodes (unprovoked meaning not due to alcohol consumption). I stopped taking it for several months and the condition returned. I quickly re initiated the following; 1G Taurine powder in my pot of coffee, 100Mg Magnesium after breakfast, 1G L-Argenine after dinner. I feel much calmer (Taurine), and zero AFib in a couple days. This time I'm not stopping the regimen !

I have DME which involves a fluid build up in the back of the eyes. I have been doing injections for two years with some success. For the last two weeks I have been using taurine. After the first week, I noticed improvements. Today I had my monthly appointment with my doctor. After he looked at today’s pictures of my eyes, he said this was the greatest improvement since we started treatment. I did not tell him about the taurine as I want to see if the trend continues (perhaps afraid of negative feedback). Although I realize that do not constitute a test group, I am very positive about the results.Read More Read Less

I have suffered from periodic bouts of tachycardia and an irregular heartbeat all my life. After numerous tests the doctors said it was not life threatening and I could live with it as my heart was quite normal otherwise. Twelve months ago I started taking 1000mg of Taurine daily and the tachycardia now rarely occurs and when I do get an attack it does not last for long. Alcohol is one of the triggers for my tachycardia so on days when I drink alcohol in the evening I take another 1000mg of Taurine and this solves the problem. After suffering for over fifty years this feels like a miracle.Read More Read Less

Frequent PVCs and AFib. Take 1 gram taurine twice daily with 150mg magnesium glycinate twice daily. Now only occasional PVC with no AFib. Side-benefit is greatly improved vision -- cataracts seem to be clearing.

I have been losing taurine in my urine because of high beta alanine of unknown cause. I tried taurine powder; i hold 1/4th teaspoon in mouth for 30 sec or more and then spitt out. 675 mg. Much to my surprise, not only do i tolerate it (im very reactive to meds) but it unexoectedly lowered my bop (i am frequently in hypertensive crisis), it takes the edge of my hyper andrenergic state, i sleep better, and i a tually think helping my gut. So far ive only been doing it every other day because of a study finding liw doses taken daily ends up increasing bp in females. I get rebound on days i dont tqke it. Note this is in contrast to cbd oul which i also tried abd that just nakes me feel stupid. The taurine calm feeks so much more natural. I heep waiting for something bad to happen! I want to see if tbis also removed the non specific T wave abnormalities i get on ekg. Low tairine causes both nagnesium And potassium to be lost and that nay be giving me palpitations. Im still getting tbose but have only been on two or so weeks. Read More Read Less

I tried a zero calorie tall energy drink, silver can, 3 servings in it, but drank it all. In two hours my blood pressure that had been 150/88 for 4 months, now was 121/77. I waited a few hours more and it still was good. Taurine was near the top of ingredients, and I believe this helped me, so will buy some Taurine to give it more of a daily test as energy drinks are expensive. If I can control my blood pressure with a supplement instead of medication, it'd be a real bonus.

I take Taurine for high blood pressure along with potassium and magnesium. It lowers my blood pressure and my cholesterol as well. My cholesterol dropped from 234 down to 185. I was taking 250mg a day. I don't want my cholesterol to drop too low so I'm backing off a little.
