  • management or monitoring precaution: Renal- Adjust starting dose and do not exceed a maximum of 2 mg/day for CrCL<60 mL/min. Hepatic-Monitor hepatic transaminases. Musculoskeletal-Elderly patients greater than age 65 may be at increased risk for myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. Rhabdomyolysis and myopathy risk is greatest when starting or increasing dose. Gastrointestinal-Constipation risk. In clinical trials, approximately 2% of patients experienced constipation.

  • Severe Precaution: Safety and efficacy not established in age < 8 years; limited data support use in age > 6 years.
