Who should not take Fenofibrate?

The following conditions are contraindicated with this drug. Check with your physician if you have any of the following:

Conditions:

  • anemia
  • decreased blood platelets
  • very low levels of granulocytes, a type of white blood cell
  • low levels of white blood cells
  • a disease with shrinking and weaker muscles called myopathy
  • obstruction of a blood vessel by a blood clot
  • liver problems
  • disease of the gallbladder
  • acute inflammation of the pancreas
  • a condition with muscle tissue breakdown called rhabdomyolysis
  • muscle inflammation
  • abnormal liver function tests
  • a patient who is producing milk and breastfeeding
  • a progressive liver disease called primary biliary cholangitis
  • chronic kidney disease stage 2 (mild)
  • chronic kidney disease stage 3A (moderate)
  • chronic kidney disease stage 3B (moderate)
  • chronic kidney disease stage 4 (severe)
  • chronic kidney disease stage 5 (failure)
  • kidney disease with likely reduction in kidney function
  • Child-Pugh class A liver impairment
  • Child-Pugh class B liver impairment
  • Child-Pugh class C liver impairment
