I normally never write on these things, but this medication has worked SO WELL for me, that I wanted to share, in case my comments might help someone who is undecided about Wellbutrin. I have had severe depression for about 10 years. Had been on prozac and effexor before wellbutrin. They both worked, but not even close to how the wellbutrin is helping me! I'm taking 300mg XL per day. I felt ...

Wellbutrin is wonnerful, wonnerful.... I take 400mgs. of Wellbutrin and 20 mgs. of Celexa each day and I feel good. Have been on this drug 'regime' going on 6 years now and I've been very pleased with the results.

Prescribed for smoking cessation, and have been smoke-free (after 22 years) for almost one week, without severe cravings (100 mg x 3/daily). I have a previous history of GAD/SAD, and it does make me feel more agitated (not anxious--but more short-fused temper-wise), but has removed the feeling of "self-consciousness" associated with SAD. Cannot sleep in one stretch either--sleep is broken up in two 3-4 hour cycles. Overall, the long-term benefits of Wellbutrin/Zyban for smoking cessation outweigh the short-term risks. I'd rather deal with lack of sleep and agitation now, rather than dealing with COPD, emphysema or lung cancer in the future!Read More Read Less

After the birth of my second child I became depressed. I actually didn't know I was depressed - I was just lost. And, unsure what was going on with me. I had my family and friends telling me "something was wrong". It made me feel more alienated. Once the dosage was corrected it's worked great. Even on the lowest dose it helped so much!

I have tried about 40 different types of depression and anxiety medications since the age of 13. I am now 24. I have been on several different combinations of pills. I have tried and retried all the SSRI's and have seen no improvement. My dr. now has me on notryptyline which is in the tricyclic group of depressants and I am still on 150 mgs of wellbutrin which I take in the morning. I know it is one of the weaker SSRIs for depression and have noticed no difference at all. Except maybe nausea.

I've been on this med for three weeks now, and it's already helped me. I am sleeping on a normal schedule, I'm less panicky and obsessive, and am having fewer depressive thoughts. I feel like it's given me my life back. Previously, I had taken Zoloft, which made me feel spaced-out and took away my libido. Wellbutrin has helped with my depression without taking away any of the good stuff. I've had some side effects-- nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and restlessness/aggression/sleeplessness for the first few days, but it wasn't anything I couldn't live with, and most of it has passed by now. Of course, no one med is perfect for everyone, but this one seems to be working for me.Read More Read Less

At only 150 mg, this has helped lift my overall mood & help my concentration but the constant low-grade headaches are annoying. And, I've found it necessary to take a sleep aid every night in order to sleep.

I just started wellbutrin about a week and a half ago. I had issues with Lexapro because it made me sleep almost 20 hours one night a week. So far I do notice a loss of appetite, and nice as that is, I have to make sure at the end of each day that i have had enough to eat. This may have to do with taking concerta which also lowers appetite. I really don't feel jittery or anything. It defainetly gets my oversleeping under control and is great so far. I got sick during this time so it is possible that some symptoms i had were related or lexapro withdrawal. These were headache, loss of consciousness (but i have low blood pressure), nausea, and ears popping. I don't know much else yet but so far it is working. It also has made me not need to smoke (which is great because i really shouldn't). It could be depression but i also feel like i am either over or under emotional. Don't know but it is better than oversleeping. I would take pretty much anything over that.Read More Read Less

I just started taking Wellbutrin, I was on Lexapro since 2005 and I switched because of the weight gain over the past couple of years. I started taking Lexapro because I lost the only 2 members of my family in 2005 in a matter of a week and Lexapro worked GREAT! I was never sick or anything on it, but now that I've been on Wellbutrin for the past 4 weeks I've noticed that I get headaches, nausea and I get light headed quite a bit. Is this normal? Meaning does my body just have to get used to the new pill? I have noticed a slight decrease in appetite which I love! Other than the few symptoms I listed above it's great. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do? Do I keep taking Wellbutrin for my system to adjust to it or go back to the Lexapro. Any suggestions would be great!!Read More Read Less

My husband passed and I needed a little bit of help during the holidays with Lexapro. I am jittery but for the most part it has given me energy and a better mood.

I have lost 8 pounds since starting Wellbutrin SR 3 weeks ago. I don't even want to eat. Which is a good thing because when I was depressed my appetite was way out of control. I still need to lose 15 pounds and I know I will be able to accomplish that on this medicine.

I was taken off another anti-depressant because it caused weight gain for me. I haven't noticed this as a miracle weigh loss product or as a miracle depression product. I can cope each day and that with bible study and finding time for myself have helped.
