This drug has been prescribed for me since the beginning of this year for several different procedures. I am now being titrated off of the drug. I have gained two inches of belly fat and am experincing some mood changes. Is this normal, and will it subside when I am off of this medication. My question is about side effects from this medication. Thanks

I am allergic to this medicine and the doctor insists this is the only one to help me. There must be others.

I honestly can't tell if the med is making a difference. I experience a burning sensation upon application. Is that normal.

Following SLT surgery for Glaucoma in my right eye, I was prescribed with these drops.. I was told to use for 4 days only. Had nasty sting in the eye following surgery, next day felt much better. Feel completely normal after 5 days. No after effects after drops so I guess they did what they were supposed to do.

I have been suffering from symptoms like those associated with pink eye on and off for a little more than a year. Sometimes it gets worse, and the redness and burning sensation would subdue in a few weeks to as long as a month. The worst part, when it gets bad, is the increase in sensitivity to light or sources of brightness...and it is painful that I have to keep my eyes shut completely or the tear production becomes crazy. Imagine being unable to open your eyes in the movie theater, that's how bad it has gotten for me. I went to the generalist first, who then recommended to the Ophthalmologist. She said it's due to allergy, but the funny thing is I don't have not known any allergies in my past 30 some years of life, she then prescribed this medicine along with an allergy drop and systane for me to use. I am supposed to use 1 drop at a time, 4 times a day for 3 days, then 1 drop/3 timesa day/for 3 days, then eventually taper to less until it's 1 drop once a day for 3 days, total of 12 days of supply. I felt fortunate tha I missed the drop, and only used it for 2 days, I administered the first drop at 9:30 pm, then 2pm next day, and then 10 pm same day. Right before my 3rd drop, I felt a little bit headache while watching TV (I had my glasses), and when I did my 3rd drop (of the cycle), I felt nauseated and got this gagging feeling and eventually spitted because it tasted so bad. I think people are right about the side effects which are supposed to happen when you use it long term. All this happened to me on the 2nd day where I should have stop using. The inflammation in my eyes actually got better after 2 drops into the first cycle, and I woke up with pretty good eyes and no redness. As soon as it makes you better I would suggest you stop taking it. Don't follow the instruction because it is made based on trials and errors from a bunch of people, not for you specifically.Read More Read Less

So I am an "eye" person Lots of eye surgeries. I have been taking 4 drops for 6 weeks tapered to 2 for 4 then 1 and now off for this right eye. Second round on the right eye this year. The day after I got off it I developed a swelling in my eye lid, pain in my eye socket and now my eye is red, hurts. I came on here to see if this is a side effect of stopping the drops. I have taken these drops off and on this year since January depending on the procedure or and left and right eye. I am going to the doctor on Wednesday morning(first available). Is this a side effect of stopping this drug? I have taken it over the years(since 1990) in one form or another. I get insomnia and weight gain, my skin breaks out. "These are rare side effects" I am told. They told me about the pinching off the tear duct, but I don't always do it. Can this redness be a side effect of stopping? I will go to the pharmacy tonight. I will report back. My eye hurts.Read More Read Less

After laser treatment (successful) for closed-angle glaucoma, these drops were prescribed by the ophthalmologist 4 x daily for one week. Greatly increased eye pressure and inflammation followed these drops and are still a problem more than a week after treatment.

PRK surgery led me to be on this drug. My first eye was done and I was put on this without much incident. Three months later, while on two drops a day for the first eye, I had my second eye done. Within days of 2 drops a day in one eye and two in the other, I got an awful taste in my mouth, thick mucus and an awful tickle in my throat that resulted in a hacking cough. As my drops are decreasing now it is slowly subsiding. Took a while to figure out it was the drops and not an illness. Hacking cough would actually result in minor vomiting. Can't wait to be done! Eyes are great and vision is incredible. Doc asked me to hang in there as we decrease usage - I'm hanging!Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with "dry eyes". Constantly bloodshot and "scratchy" The tear ducts were blocked according to the doctor. I have tried this medication over a period of time and it's worthless for my condition. The redness is still there and still scratchy.

After cataract surgery I was given the Prednisolone Acetate drops to use after the Ophthalmologist was made aware of my allergy to corticosteroids/steroids. I have been having an increase of trouble breathing as the steroid has increased in my system. When I called the Dr. he refused to change my drops to a non-steroid based medication. I only hope I can get through another 4 weeks with the drops and getting to work too!

I get an almost immediate headache when I put the drops in. Does anyone else? It eventually goes away. Using drops 4 times a day for 2 days now. Just made the connection to the timing of the headache.

I recently had glaucoma and cataract combined surgery. My eye surgeon prescribed this medicine for me to use after surgery. About 12-13 days later, I started to experience sharp pain in my eyeball and a lot of excess fluid in my eye. After I stopped using the eye drops, it slowly got better. Do not use this product for a long time! Talk to your pharmacist about the dangers!

I had a mini shunt implant and was prescribed this med for inflammation. Was told I would be on it 4x's a day for apx 90 days. It's been 2 weeks and have experienced mood swings, headaches and nausea. I get crying spells, and am very depressed, which is so not like me. I am also on 2 other drops, so not sure which one is causing the effects, or if it a combination. I'm concerned about the long term effects of steroids on other organs. I didn't know about applying pressure on the corner of the eye to prevent it from getting in to the system, thank you for that information, I will start doing that to see if it helps. I had a trabulectomy with shunt & was on this every 3 hours for 3 weeks to prevent swelling. It made me so enraged I was bordering on being a lunatic so filled with anger that I felt like I could bite someones face off if they just looked at me the wrong way! I was screaming at the top of my lungs for minor annoyances! I felt like I wanted to crawl out of my own skin. It is like PMSing 1000 fold. It also made me so depressed all I wanted to do was sleep! I think it made my other eyes vison worse- It kept getting worse and worse over 3 weeks time to the point I cannot read with my unoperated on eye! I'm hoping that side effect goes away! I didn't need eye glasses for that eye before using THIS! If you have to use it remember to hold pressure with your finger on the inside corner of your eye for 2 to 3 minutes- this prevents the medicine from getting into your system-Not all Drs inform their patients on this- I was seeing Eye drs for 4 years before someone finally told me that was the proper way to put drops in! I would not reccomend this medicine unless you have no choice and have to use it after surgery. I'm normally a calm, peaceful person who abhors anger and violence- this made me extremely agitated, enraged, & depressed.Read More Read Less
