When I went to the doctor I was obese and my thyroid was underactive. The doctor put me on 88mcg of L-Thyroxine. It kept changing until I learned from a nurse to take it 1 to 2 hours before eating. My medication has been at 50 mcg for 2 years now and I have lost from almost 200 pounds to 135. I am very pleased with this medication and have no side effects from it.

I would rather be taking methamphamine. (Kidding) I have been on this med for years and I can fall asleep on a dime. Not exactly on a dime, but I have no energy whatsoever. There has to be something to restore some of my energy. I am on 88mcgs. HELLO!!!!!! My doctor gave me a B12 shot. I slept for two days.

I have been on a diet forever and i was 223 now i was down to 169 but after taking this drug i am now 187 and going up. and I am very mad about that!

Half the symptoms are unbearable, Doctor will not listen so will probably get off the drug. Sounds like others have the same problems.

I believe this medication is causing my hair to fall out, no other med Im on has that as a possible side effect. Also didnt know would cause red face which I have sinse taking this, feel tired, chest pains that I didnt relate to the med. but see as a side effect, think its time to get off it, I got on it bcs was told it could help w/ fibromyalgia pain and chronic pain, but it hasnt in over a year. Comment on severe shoulder pain was interesting as I also began having to take injections for arm and shoulder pain, possibly from this too?? Im stopping this very soon, guess I need to wean down.Read More Read Less

I hate this medicine and I am hoping to go back on Synthroid...I have gained 10 lbs, am extrememly irritable and have the worst arm/shoulder pain (only noticed this while on this medication). I felt better on synthroid...It has been 1 yr and I have been on so many different dosage levels to try to help my hypothroidism...I am getting extremely frustrated...

I have been taking this medication for treatment of an under active thyroid. For the first several weeks, I felt my heart was racing and I was very irritable. I stuck with it, as my doctor said that my body would possibly adjust to the medication. It did. I took it for close to 7 months but had occasional chest pain, which I didn't know if this had anything to do with or not. I also developed a stomach ulcer, so I stopped taking this med for about 5 days during which time I felt somewhat more tired and cold. I decided to start taking it again after my stomach felt better. I took half a tablet. I felt horrible. My heart started racing again and I felt like I was running a marathon but at the same time, I felt tired. Hard to describe. I also noticed my EXTREME irritability with everything around me, including my family. The bad thing is, I have no idea if this drug is even doing what it is supposed to be doing because my thyroid hasn't been rechecked. I can't take a drug that makes me feel this poorly. It's not worth it. But what is the alternative? I am on the lowest dose possible. VERY FRUSTRATED!!!!!Read More Read Less

I have noticed since the increase that I am too high strung but now I feel close to normal again. My energy is better & my weight gain has stopped, starting to lose quickly from underactive thyroid.
