switching from selegeline to rasegeline has been an improvement taking 45 days for results. I'm concerned about all the foods that are warned against eating containing tyramine.. many of them are the "healthy" items included in our diet. High Blood pressure medication is also a daily prescription but no mention of this interaction was suggested or warned. After 2 strokes in a years time, I'm extremely cautious. My next action is a call to the Dr. Anyone have an remarks concerning the interactions? Thanks.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed 5 yrs ago. Have taken Mirapex from day one. Very slow progression. Started Azilect 4+ mos ago. Side effects related to Azilect are, for me, overwhelming. Akinesia (voluntary movement) has grossly deteriorated. I stumble from a frozen position and nearly fall on a regular basis. Violent, physical nightmares. Severe constipation. Arthritic symptoms in ankles and major joints. Numbness in feet at night. Losing bladder control. Severe deterioration of walking gait. Hard to tell if these problems are condition related or Azilect related. Considering going off Azilect to see which are which. Seems like Azilect is not the silver bullet I hoped it would be. My mobility and stability has improved. However I am experiencing insomnia. I would like to know how many users experience this and if it is a long term side effect. I have to take sleeping pills at night.

I was newly diagnosed with mild Parkinson's about 7 months ago. This is the first drug that my Doctor prescribed for me. This drug stopped my "pill rolling" and other movements. I'd say it works really good for me in mono-therapy. I'm happy.

Started on Azilect 9 mo. after diagnosis and initial treatment with Pramipexole, which worked well by itself, but after Azilect added, seemed to get a return of strength in left side (mostly affected on left for now..)and was able to do long bike rides again..more positive effects on strength than dexterity (slow typing!)but overall ++ effect on quality of life and daily activities

My mother was prescribed this drug by an neurologist even though her regular physician suggested Sinemet instead. It did very little for her. When she switched to Sinemet, her symptoms were MUCH improved.

The side effects are not worth it. Hallucinations, rigidity, tremors, drop in blood pressure.

I have mild Parkinsons now. Diagnosed 11/07.Take Cardidopa & Azilect. Wanted to stop Azilect after taking for over a year because of food restrictions. Stopped taking Azilect for 2 weeks and developed leg jerks after being off it for 2 weeks. Started taking Azilect again and after approximately a month the leg jerks have disappeared.

I was diagnosed with early Parkinson's disease a few months ago, and put on a course of 1 mg Azilect daily. My symptoms- balance difficulties, muscular rigidity, stiff gait, lethargy- have all improved. I now need fewer midday naps and have more energy. This has been a significantly beneficial treatment with no obvious side-effects.

I have been diagnosed with Parkinson 4 months ago. I am taking 1 mg Azilect and 4 mg Requip. My wife tells me that I have less tremors when I sleep. Side symptoms are bad. I am lethargic and sleepy all the time, have nausea, and vivid dreams that interfere with my sleep. I am not sure if these drugs improves my shakiness and stiffness symptoms. Also, I am not sure if the side effects are caused by the Azilect, the Requip or both.

I was diagnosed only a month ago and immediately began Azilect. I'm still trying to understand Parkinsons while at the same time trying to figure out what Azilect is doing for and to me. I have real balance issues. My hands tremor some. I have noticed that since starting the meds I am tired all the time. What I hope for most from the Azilect is help with my cognitive issues.

I've been on it for almost 4 months now. I it took for 2 wks. before I noticed a change. I have much better movement. I do have some joint pain in my knees and ankles. And lately my ankles have been swelling. I need to check with the Dr. about that though.
