This is day 9 of being smoke free. This stuff is amazing! I did a lot of research on this drug and was terrified by all the side effects. I take it with food as everyone advised and I am fine. The dreams are ususally really amusing and can be remembered vividly upon waking. One thing I did as I am 125 pounds and can be sensitive to drugs is that I would break the starter pills in half and take par...

This is the first time we know of that aggression/violence has been clearly documented as a side effect in a peer reviewed scientific journal. This raises the question of whether (Chantix) is suitable for use in the military, by police and others who are already in stress situations. One key characteristic of these events is uncontrollable rage. Not a good side effect for people paid to carry guns...

I was able to quit in three weeks. My mind was off the cigarettes entirely and my habits associated with the smoking were broke in two weeks of taking this medication. I strongly suggest it.

I took this drug for 14 days, and was sick each & every one of those days. Not just a little quesy but sick all day every day. My tongue got a coating on it and is still not right. Did I smoke less, yes, was it the medicine or being sick from the medicine????

So far it has definitely helped to keep my mind off smoking but I do feel a general queasiness for an hour or two after I take it, even with food. The dream have kicked in as well since I upped to the full dosage packs. I am kind of hoping that doesn't last becasue it makes it difficult to get a full night's rest. Still, if it helps me kick the habit I think it will be worth it.

I am a 45 yr old male that has been taking this for 3 weeks. Depending on stress level will determine how much I smoke that day and still haven't been able to stop the urge during breaks at work. Not sure, but felt that once I started this I would not want to smoke but doesn't seem to curb the urge.

I haven't smoked in 52 days, but there is no way I can continue this medication. Besides the stomach issues, I have wild mood swings and am lashing out at people for minor things. I am also exhausted all the time. I read a recent newspaper article that indicated that Chantix could cause or intensify depression and/or anxiety; so, I can only hope that in a few days my energy level rebounds and I am not so crabby. Drinking alcohol and taking Chantix does not mix well. My alcohol tolerance has been exteremely low while on Chantix. But, after all is said and done, I was able to quit my 16 year habit using this medication alone. I also feel that the folks that have continued to smoke really don't want to quit that bad. You must WANT it and WANT it BADLY...it is hell to give up a habit that is so ingrained in your personality. Sure there are times that I want to smoke...but I WANT to be a non-smoker. That's why the pills worked for me and not for my husband. I would recommend them to others as long as the person was aware of the side-effects.Read More Read Less

I have been on this for 3 weeks. I have cut down from 1 pack to 1/2 pack a day. Maybe it's working a little bit. I still have a strong craving. Not the miracle drug I've heard so much about. Everyone else who left a comment is female. I'm wondering if it is more effective on women for some reason.

I have been on Chantix for about 6 weeks and I have yet to quit smoking. On the other hand I was smoking about a pack to a pack and a half a day and now I am smoking less than 8 (I have my grandmother, whom I live with, hold my pack and she was told by me, not to give me anymore than 8 a day. Lately, she doesn't have to give me 8, I still have a few left over from the day before, but I never have more than 8 on me at any time. So while I haven't totally quit like my mother, she took Chantix and quit smoking after 7 days, I am getting. I am doing this the way I do just about everything else in life, taking it slow so that I don't miss anything.Read More Read Less

Finally, a product that is really effective. I am a 61 y/o woman who smoked one to one and a half pks a day for 46 years. I tried every product out there, multiple times w/o success. Chantix works in the addiction center of the brain which in turns stops the craving for tobacco. So, it is not that I never had the willpower to quit before and failed ---- it was that other methods did not treat the addictive power of nicotine. They merely traded the method delivery of nicotine into my body when using patches or gums, etc. I thank my doctor and the makers of Chantix for every smoke free day I have. I am in the eleventh week of treatment and plan to take an additional 12 weeks of treatment, because I don't ever want to smoke another cigarette as long as I live. pjb from Oak Harbor, WA Read More Read Less

I have started this med and am on the first week. I am still smoking but the cigarettes are really starting to taste bad. Chantix does affect your taste buds and brain. It makes nicotine react differently in your brain so you don't crave it as much. I have also experienced some anxiety while on this med, with like a chest vibration which is weird, but I am sticking with it and will hopefully quit in a few days....

I have had very uncomfortable side effects with Chantix including: vivid, almost hallucinatory, dreams; blurred vision; horrible (something died in there) taste in my mouth all the time despite diligent oral hygiene; intense, immediate nausea if not taken with food; mood changes - sad; anxity; general malaise; intense headaches - difficult to tame. I am not smoking but I am not sure how much credit I can give to the medicine as I have never seriously tried to quit before now. I had made up my mind that I have had it with smoking after 30 years. The only problem that I encountered with this medicine was nausea and vomiting. If I took the medicine with food, I did not have any problems, but I usually don't eat breakfast and this would cause a problem. When I took Chantix, I did not crave cigarettes at all. I have smoked regular for over 27 years and this drug is a miracle. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stop with their smoking habit. It really works.
