Took 10 days of 500mg tablets for severe sinus infection (horrible swelling of my face around brow bones, under eyes), my worst infection of my sinus area in a very long time. I get an average of 2 sinus infections a year, due to malformation of the sinus glands. I have taken Levaquin before and never had a problem, so when I began to get these wierd side effects I looked for causes all over ...

I was very allergic to this medication, causing me to vomit and feel really tired and sore the whole following day after I took it.

Sinus infection cleared within days but had disturbing side effects. Felt like I was sitting at a 45 degree angle but knew I was sitting straight. Skin was painful in areas and looked a little bubbly but not red. internal pain. extreme muscle weakness.

Seven days ago I went to see a specialist b/c I have now had 3 colds in the last 2-3 months. I have a simple sinus infection and was given Levaquin for 10 days - 3 extra days to the usual 7-day treatment 'just to make sure'. The medication took effect immediately and everything seemed to be clearing up but now 7 days into it I am still very nasal-y, and blowing my nose constantly. I am definitely going to take the last 3 days of pills but I have a feeling its not going to knock it out completely. I did not have any side effects from this drug and I definitely like the idea of one pill a day - my Dr. also recommended I take acidophillus with it every day so as to stave off yeast infections...highly recommend using it as I have not had any problems.Read More Read Less

I have a bacterial infection and my first doctor prescribe me Biaxin which did nothing for me after a week. I went to a different doctor and i receive Levaquin 500mg for 10 days. It started working after 3 days but by the time I finish the medicine after 10 days, I didn't feel any better. I give it about another week, thinking that the Levaquin need some more time to kick in and didn't get better at all. Finally went to the doctor today and this time, i was prescribe Levaquin 750MG for 5 days. Pharmacist recommend that I don't take this with food an hour before and after. Took this pill at around 12 noon and went to sleep, woke up at around 2 to get something to eat, now it feel like I have a bad taste in my mouth, light headed, stomach cramps, but my sinus and conguestions has clear up a bit. I'll take another dose tomorrow and see what happens. I'll report back in 5 days after this medicine, that's if I am still alive. Read More Read Less

For the first 3 (of 10 days) I had headache and vivid dreams but they stopped and the last 7 days were uneventful. This medication worked for me and I liked the ease of a once a day pill.

Have taken several times for sinus infections, and it works great! After a couple days, I feel terrific! It is the ONLY antibiotic that doesn't bother my stomach. No side effects! Thank God for the doctors who created Levaquin!

I read the reviews after I took one the first day, and was worried beyond measure after reading these horror stories. I was on my way to Disneyworld in a few days and thought "I don't need nausea and joint pain at Disney." Instead, I was just fine. The worse side effect I believe I experienced was being "warm" for a little while about two hours after taking my dosage, and at times, I had a medicinal taste on my tongue. My seasonal asthma popped up while I was away due to the changes in temperatures and humidity, but other than that, I felt fine with this medication, and I know it cleared up the infection PRONTO!Read More Read Less

I was on other antiobiotics for 17 days which did nothing to clear up the infection. Once I was switched to Levaquin, I noticed a difference within 24 hours. It has cleared up the infection .

While taking this drug last year for a bladder infection I experienced knee problems and incontinance. This year after only one pill I had a severe allergic reation. I had a raised red rash on my face and various areas on my body and my left eye swelled shut. Never again!!

I had an operation on my big toe joint. My foot developed an inflamation after I'd taken one round of another antibiotic (starts with a d), and my doctor put me on Levaquin. I developed a severe itchy red rash on my ankles and legs. It's moving up to my eyelid now. I quit after four pills, and I'm on anthistemines now to control the rashes. It stopped the inflammation in my foot in one day.

Over the weekend my doc was closed, so I went to Urgent Care. I'm allergic to penicillan, so doc perscribed Levaquin 500 mg. That first night, I had a really upset stomach that continued. 3 days into treatment I broke out with a huge rash on my face and neck. Went to my regular doc, who said that the rash was an allergic reaction. However, he couldn't understand why I had been perscribed Levaquin in the first place, because it is such a strong drug! He said intense stomach pain is not uncommon. He said it will remain in my system for a while. I stopped taking it 4 days ago and still am having stomach probs and the rash, while fading, is still there!Read More Read Less
