Yea! No more periods. I started taking this after starting with Seasonique. You absolutely must take it at the same time every day. I cannot believe that I suffered through horrible PMS and periods all of these years. I was actually pondering a voluntary complete hysterectomy it was getting so bad. Last week I was in my closet and stumbled across my stack of boxes of tampons and pads I used ...

I took this pill for about a month. I was told that I may experience spotting since I started taking mid cycle. I started spotting then bleeding which lasted continuous until I completely stopped this pill. At least 11 days. I agree this pill probably effects people differently. I, however, had horrible side effects. The bleeding was heavy and I had worse cramps than my normal period. I also belie...

First week on Lybrel my period stopped, second week I had dark spotting, third week bleeding heavily, currently on my fourth week and can't leave the house without soaking through a super plus tampon/pad/undies and jeans. I'm afraid to leave my house for fear I'll be walking around with a red behind. (which I did in Macy's until I found the restroom and wrapped my sweatshirt around my waist!) Also passing huge blood clots similar to those after having my children. Also my pain is only getting more intense, feeling like my spine is going to rip in half. I called my doctor and the nurse told me that the pill is just "thinning my uterus lining" and that's exactly what it's supposed to do. Wondering if this will ever stop??? I'd rather just have my regular period than this craziness.Read More Read Less

This med. is the best and i couldnt be happier taking it.I LOVE Lybrel. It's the BEST

I used this pil from January to July. The first 3 months were wonderful. NO PERIODS! Then all of a sudden I had a period constantly. I had never had heavy periods, just major cramping and nausea. This was worst! I would not suggest this pill.

I had been having periods to the point that it was impossible to go to work even when using a super plus tampon and super pad. It did slow down the blood flow right away. I had some breakthrough bleeding during the first 2 months then on the third month I started the month with heavy spotting for two weeks and have now been having a period for two weeks. I called my doctor and he is switching me to yet another pill. I have tried ortho, dumulen, yasmin, seasonale, jolessa, and now whatever the new one is he is calling in tonight. I really feel they market these drugs as "fixing it all" when in reality they don't. They just need to recoup the cost for research. I hope the new one works. If it does, I will post again.Read More Read Less

I took this drug for seven months. At first it was great I would spot from time to time, but no real period. Then in june I spotted for a month then again in August. I beacme extremely depressed and my anxiety was severe. It hurt my relationships and work enviroment. Just because this didnt work for me doesn't mean it wouldn't work for someone else. I recommend making people you trust aware that should you become depressed with high irratibility to make you aware that you need a change. I am trying a new birth control now. I was ortho ti cyclen for eight years and switch because my body was getting use to it.Read More Read Less

I started this drug the first week in April. This treatment has cut down on my endometriosis pain. But, I have a period three weeks out of every month. The periods are strange too. I am debating discontinuing the pill and returning to my old form of birth control. One where I do not feel as if I am bleeding to death!!

I started taking Lybrel approximately two months ago. I was excited about not having to worry about any periods. At first everything was fine, just some spotting. about 4-5 weeks into it, the spotting got heavier and eventually i got a period. this lasted for over the past 2-3 weeks. i also became very moody and depressed, not wanting to get out of bed. i also gained over 5 pounds from this medicine which bothered me greatly. i am a petite girl and never gained that much weight in such a sort amount of time. my sex drive gone. what is the point of being on birth control if i'm miserable? and also making my significant other miserable? i understand that this birth control may take 3-6 months to level out and your body get used to it. but this is not worth ruining my summer. different birth controls react differently to different people and this one deffinently did not work for me. if you can stick out the first few months then go for it. I was placed on this pill for endo. The first month I had a heavy period for two weeks, off a week, and then back on my period for a week. Since then I have had some spotting and mild cramping but not a period. I hjust started my third pack. At first I had no pain (within the first week my eno pain went away) but I have been having severe pain and nausea for nearly two weeks now. I think my body is trying to have a period and can't. I have not gained any weight with the pill, but I do break out where I didnt before. I believe this pill is helping me overall though.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Lybrel since March '08. The first two months were great, no period at all. I bragged about it too soon. I have had a period every since the beginning of May. Some days its light other days it's running like a faucet. I have been dead tired every since I started taking the pill. I also now have cramps, something I never had before. I would never recommend this drug to anyone. Everytime I call my doctor her nurse (not her) tells me it takes time. What if I were married or in a relationship, how do you think a 6 week period would affect it? No to mention, I'm in a bad mood because I can't do anything about it. I am spending money on tampons, pads and the this expensive pill. Why is it on the market anyway? Why did the FDA approve it? Do the benefits outway the side effects, not by a long shot.Read More Read Less

I started Lybrel after a million other treatments and surgeries that didn't work. I immediately stopped having periods, but am now in my 6th month and have started spotting...WEIRD? My pain has stopped since starting the pill (though it did take about 4 months to FULLY eliminate pain during intercourse, so hang in there ladies!) I have experienced extreme nausea in the past few weeks (not pregnant) and definitely have had my share of headaches since beginning the pill and trouble sleeping in the past couple of months but could be stress related, not blaming it all on the pill. I have bounced back and forth between breakouts since starting the pill, mainly face and upper back, which i never had problems with before. A little weight gain in the beginning, followed by lack of hunger for about a month, so i lost all of what i had gained (about 5 pounds). Its not an awful pill, I would say give it a chance if you are dealing with what I had to. (Newlywed who couldn't have intercourse for first 2 years of marriage due to pain from endometriosis). I began taking Lybrel 2+ months ago. I suffer from hormonal migraines and have so for 9 years. I thought I'd try this medicine to stop my period and the migraines. I had breakthrough bleeding but that has stopped. I now have swelling, weight gain, and anxiety. I think I am going to stop this medicine and try another type of hormonal treatment.

I have been on Lybrel for only 5 days and I am begging my doctor to change my prescription. I am anxious, itchy, unable to concentrate, lacking in any sex drive, etc... You name it. It is unbelievable that a tiny little pill can so quickly change your life. I awake at night with anxiety and have trouble falling asleep because of the itching. The monthly pain from the endometriosis is much easier to deal with.

Until now, I had never used birt control pills. But, my periods got so heavy that I could bearly go to work. In first months of taking Lybrel my periods were even heavier.and then went to spotting every day for a month or more. The doctor said I needed to give it 3 months for it to kick in. So for the last 2-3 months I have had no bleeding whatsoever. Now I have a headache around my eye that is constant! The eye doctor could find nothing wrong. Now I am waiting to go to a neurologist. I think it's from the pill. The aches started about the time the spotting quit. Read More Read Less

I have been using Lybrel for almost 2 months now. I took 2 years off from birth control and recently decided to go back on it. The side effects are bearable but still annoying. Headaches every day, weight gain that has been controled by watching what I eat(HUNGRY ALL THE TIME!!), mild depression, and being tired all the time, as well as breast discomfort. But overall it's been great. No pain from endometreosis and no period. Going to try it out for another month or so and see if it gets better

I have suffered heavy periods for years-sometimes lasting two weeks where I would bleed through my clothing while using a super plus tampon and maxi-pad. Despite being on birth control for several years, my periods did not get lighter. I have been taking Lybrel since Sept. 2007. The first three months were awesome, but then I had extremely heavy bleeding at the end of the third pill pack that really scared me. Since then, I have had interment spotting and bleeding and light periods. I have not experienced any other negative side effects, except for weight gain, but that is also due to the uterine fibroid that I have. I am using Lybrel to reduce the size of the uterine fibroid and my heavy and abnormally long periods. For the past two months, I have not had any spotting or bleeding. However, I have noticed if I miss taking one pill on time, I will get cramps and light bleeding. Overall the negative effects (spotting, having to carry tampons at all times) are less than the benefits (no period, reduced fibroid tumor). I would recommend Lybrel to women with heavy periods who do not experience PMS. Read More Read Less

I went to my doctor a little over a week ago as I had been having my period for about 3 weeks. Some days it was scary heavy (almost went to the hospital) and others it was almost nothing. So my doctor had me try Lybrel (as she had samples). She said to start taking it immediately as it starts to work immediately. My period would dwindle down to nothing and stay that way. Well, I'm here to tell you that is NOT the case! Now, I have my period heavy everyday!! Not so much scary heavy but heavy enough that I have to wear an overnight during the day. It doesn't help I'm also on meds for bi-polar disorder and I don't think they're nearly as affective if I'm bleeding profusely everyday. So I'm a total wreck emotionally as well as physically. All I can say is this pill definitely did not work to control the bleeding. As for birth control, I really can't say but that's an area I don't have a problem with. On the plus side my skin does seem to be clearer so I guess that's something! Read More Read Less
