Please watch out for these bulletin boards. I am a very sensitive person, health-obsessed and health food and everything, and I have had nothing but a good experience- no side effects to my surprise. Just relief. Also had in-depth conversations with doctors about generics vs. main brand and there is no difference. I have switched between Kariva and Viorele etc and no change. I love this drug.! The worst birth control I have ever used in my entire life. I used to take Azurrette and, like others, CVS switched it out for this new kind. I have been taking it for a little over three months and it is TERRIBLE. My first period on it lasted for over two weeks when normally it is just a few days long. It was so heavy and not at all what I was used to. I also experienced migraines and heavy mood ...

I have been on this pill for 3 months now. I get migraines from time to time that are actually horrible and sometimes last like two days. Also, Idk if anyone else experienced this on viorele but my periods eversince taking this pill have been SO heavy and SO painful!!! idk if this is normal. My pharmacy actually changed me from viorele to kariva now so I am going to see how it goes with Karvia now. hopefully the pain goes away and i hope my period gets lighter. my periods were always super light but eversince Viorele they are horrilby heavy. So if anyone is wondering, I have read all of these comments and they all apply.bloating, nausea, weight/appetite gain (it's been 12 days) extreme rage, breat tenderness and lumps. I have probably gained 5 pounds in less than two weeks.i knew something was wrong, DO NOT TAKE IT!

Been on the Viorelle for about 4 months now. So far its been a positive experience. My periods are relatively light. Cramps are about the same if not lesser depending on the heaviness of the period. So cramp severity is usually an inidcation of the period heaviness or lightness. One month I hardly got a period at all. This past weekend was my 1st real period experience on this pill, mensing for 5 days. I switched from the ring which I did like and was on for years, but after I turned 30 I swear the ring and my body chemistry were not having it. I started developing BV symptoms all the time when it never occured before turning 30. So I began to think my body was trying to tell me something about the ring and it was rejecting it. I tried everything to get the symptoms from reocurring as often as they were and switching from the ring helped. Im a really small person as it is I would love to be hormore free but when I go off of hormonal birth control I shrink, litterally in size. Im 31, standing 5'4" weighing 103 lbs on average. I cannot afford to lose any weight without looking like a prepubescent teen, so going on non hormonal birth control is not an option for me. I felt I was more emotionally unbalanced on the ring than I do with this pill. Im also on mood stablizers so maybe I dont feel the depression symptom like others Im reading are experiencing. My sex drive is so, so. But I think much of that has to do with being on an SSRI. Before mood stabilizers and when I wasnt on birth control for aome periods my sex drive was insane. Now its just kinda meh. I wish it was higher theres not just one thing I can blame that on. Overall this birth control is a thumbs up. Ive also tried the implant in the past, utterly hated it. That thing along killed my sex drive more than any birth control method Ive ever tried. I had it removed halfway into the 3 years you can have it in for. I hate taking a pill every day, but what else am I gunna do? I take pills every day anyways.Read More Read Less

I was taking azurette for about three months I had switched over to azurette from a different pill that was not helping me. I had no side effects switching I loved azurette it normalized my periods and I would start to cramp a bit a week before my period just like clockwork. However recently my doctor switched me from azurette to viorele I have been on it for 16 Days now and about 5 days ago I started to have a panic attack which than turned into daily crying. I feel like I am losin my mind I usually get anxious or panic attacks but I am to manage them. After reading the reviews I wonder if this pill is making it worse for now I am stopping it. It was so heavy and not at all what I was used to. I also experienced migraines and heavy mood swings. I am now reaching where I should be getting my period and my PMS symptoms are raging yet again. I cannot stop peeing, which I know is not a UTI, I am super emotional and I am CONSTANTLY cramping all the time. It is a dull pain but it is ALWAYS THERE. I don't know how they are giving this medication out to women. This is the worst pill I have ever encountered in my 10+ years of taking the pill. The prescription even said that I needed to be counseled for the changed medication and no one at CVS even told me it was a new brand and may have other side effects. I called today and told them I need the Azurrette and will never allow for any substitutions again in the future. STAY. AWAY. FROM. THIS. PILL.Read More Read Less

I had been using an estrogen-only pill for five years before my doctor switched me to this (she says its more effective). I have been extremely moody--very angry-acting since taking Viorele for the past 12 days. I'm stopping this and getting back on the other pill immediately.

The first week I experienced no symptoms. The second week and third week was horrific. It wasn't the nausea or the bloating that bothered me as much as the depression and lack of energy. My functionality as a human being decreased by at least 50%. It was not worth it.

Everyone around me says I'm different since being on this pill. I feel depressed and angry and fat to sum it all up. My boyfriend says I'm mean to him now. I do catch myself acting like this and it is starting to make me wonder if i need to just chuck this and be done with hormones altogether. Or am i just crazy?!? It's been two months on this pill..

I have only been on this birth control for a month and I just can't take it anymore. I have become so depressed, I'm already depressed and it got MUCH worse. I was extremely sad one minute and the next I was kinda and then really angry. Mood swings are a real problem!! I didn't get acne, my cramps were about the same. And my boobs were swollen but not painful. My libido was decreasing. I wasn't as wet as I used to be. Over all I'm going to stop taking this. The 2-3 months waiting for it to stabilize is not worth the depression and moodswings. Read More Read Less

I have been on Viorele 28 Oral for 3 years. I have started peri-menopause and was having Hot Flashes. My gynecologist gave me this b/c to help with the hot flashes and I have had no problems. I believe that any medication will act differently on anyone. If you can't handle a medication speak to you physician about the problems and solutions that could be happening.

I've been on Viorele for a year and a half. I was previously on Apri, which gave me terrible headaches, mood swings, and long periods and less predictable periods. Viorele has reduced my headaches, leveled my mood out, and I now have shorter and more predictable periods. I can say that Viorele may or may not work for some people. I've found that Viorele has worked for my ovarian cysts and balancing my symptoms out.

Before I started taking birth control my cramps were unbearable, I would even have to stay home from school or work they were so bad. The first pill I used (don't remember the name) gave me awful headaches, mood swings, hot flashes, etc. Viorele hasn't given me any of these problems! I'll occasionally have bad cramping on the first day of my period but that's about it. I did, however, gain 20 pounds in the past year that I've been taking it :( Not sure if I can blame that solely on the pill though, so overall I'm satisfied!Read More Read Less

Apparently CVS has this as their preferred drug of choice. My prescription was changed over from Kariva (which I have had no problems with for at least 6 years). I was only on this drug for 4 days and had terrible headaches, bloating, and nausea. I am so glad I found these reviews, I felt like I was going crazy. I called my pharmacy and they told me that they would have to special order Kariva, but it should be no problem. Please call your pharmacy if you are not tolerating this medication, they can switch you back to Kariva, and if they tell you they can't, switch pharmacies. Your MD can also write a prescription stating no substitutions if your pharmacy/insurance company gives you a hard time. Read More Read Less

I've been on viorele for 3 months now, going on 4 and i can happily say my cramps are gone, no weird side effects, the first week on it i did lose my appetite but now I'm perfectly fine. Although i am noticing some acne near my jawline which i never had... Perhaps its the pill or my eating habitss ? No idea. But its a great pill.

I've been on Viorele for about 2 years. Starting any birth control is going to make anyone emotional, so I expected all of that. I think I did gain about 5lbs, and it is not weight that will come off (I am extremely active) but I don't mind. No problems overall.

I was on Kariva for about a year and then like most other reviews the pharmacy switched me to Viorele. To be honest I actually prefer this one. On Kariva I felt like a raging lunatic with no desire for sex but on Viorele I don't get moody and my periods are lighter and shorter which is great. I know everyone's body is different but I haven't had a problem since the switch and I've been on Viorele for about 3 years now.

I have only been on this medication for a week and so far so good. No nausea, no mood swings, and I honestly think is has made me lose some weight. ive tried several different BC methods in the past and have had horrible experiences with them all. From vomiting to a 30 pound weight gain in a month time span. This pill has a low amount of estrogen, and I have a high amount already. So the other contraceptives just put me over the edge and gave me too much estrogen-- hence my bad experiences. But so far, this medication has been great for me so far. Read More Read Less

Viorele has been the best birth control for me! I was on Ortho-Cyclen successfully for 2 years, when suddenly I started having horrible mood swings and crying spells. So my doctor switched me to Viorele since it has a lower dose of hormones. I spotted the first few months of use, that's it. No weight gain, acne, or mood swings! My periods are a lot lighter and shorter than they used to be, and always on time. Since I am in a committed relationship, I don't use condoms or any other methods. Just birth control. No pregnancy scares, this is an awesome contraceptive! Read More Read Less

At 43, I did not plan to start taking any bcp but have been prescribed it for estrogen & to build bone density. Had taken Mircette for 3 months, slight weight gain, no acne, no hair loss. On advice of gyn & pharmacist, switched to Viorele for 1 month, have had a yeast infection for 3 weeks that keeps coming back. I understand that bcps increase the chance of getting yeast infections & have always been very sensitive to getting them, but 3 weeks in a row is ridiculous. I may continue one more month then switch back to Mircette if infection persists. The $40 a month I was supposed to be saving on Viorele I am spending on Monistat anyway & I'm miserable!Read More Read Less
