I started this drug about 2 months ago after struggling with IBS with Constipation for most of my adult life. I am now 42! I finally found a gastro who heard the fact that I only had a movement about once every 7 days and was shocked and actually told me, that is horrible and not normal and lets try some things to change that. I got some samples of Linzess and began them after finishing up a cou...

This drug caused a burning sensation in my esophagus, making it hard to swallow. Because of that, I had to have a barium swallow, which caused severe constipation for 3 months and a hospital bill of 3 hundred dollars that I have yet pay and is now destroying my credit. I feel I should be compensated for my loss and aggravation.

Have been using this medication for awhile now, I switch from 75mg to 150mg. It’s definitely a type of medication that you take when you don’t have anything to do and are just planning on hanging around the house but it works most of the time. The only issue I have is if the medicine gets warm. It seems to not work as well so definitely keep it in a cool area.

When reading these reviews...it is important to realize there are MANY reasons for constipation. My issue appears to be motility (movement). It may be caused by nerve damage that is interfering with the signals to the muscles surrounding the bowels. The only way I can get my bowels moving is by taking stimulant laxatives (bisacodyl). Linzess does not work for me at all.

I’ve struggled with constipation since childhood. Finally started seeing a GI doc as an adult and he prescribed linzess. It works, however it can work to well sometimes. It took me a while to find my rhythm with this med but once I did it’s a lifesaver. I highly suggest your first dose should be a day when your not leaving the house. I only take it when I’m starting to notice incomplete bowel movements and or constipation. I take it on an empty stomach in the morning and I won’t eat for least 45 min - hour. Once I eat I’m heading to the bathroom. I will say I have diarrhea but no cramping just pretty intense urgency. That last an hour or so then I’m good. But honestly it’s worth it for me and my issues. I really have a hard time understanding all these negative opinions of Linzess. I've had chronic constipations since I was a child and nothing has worked. I bloat no matter what I eat, strain to make a bowel movement, and am in constant fear of eating because of the pain of not going to the bathroom. I've spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to go to the bathroom and having this sensation of having to go but never fully going. I've tried just about everything in the only way I can even go to the bathroom Is with suppositories. Then 2 years ago my GI doctor put me on Linzess. For the first week or so I could not be more than 10 feet from the nearest bathroom because the onset of bowel movement is sudden. Bowel movements were completely watery but the relief of being bloated and gassy was real. After 2 weeks, i was going normally. Then last year my insurance suddenly stopped covering it a nd my doctor tried several others. Nothing worked ... bloating n pain returned and I gained weight. Under a new plan this year they approved Linzess again Ive been back on it for 4 days now. Im already feeling relief. Im still in the rush to bathroom stage but its far superior to the chronic constipation Ive suffered my whole life. For me this is a miracle drug.Read More Read Less

I am a chronic constipation patient and gone through trying Linzess twice, but nothing improve as based on my symptoms and food consuming help me recognize that my constipation cause by acid stomach deficiency which cause SIBO. Please research medicine that improve stomach acid production. Helicopter Pylori’s enzymes can impact to stomach lining and G-cells for acid stomach production

Unless you suffer from severe constipation do not take this. I have some sort of intestinal parasite that’s had me blocked for months but I still go once a day just not 3x a day like normal. I passed a 2 foot worm back over the summer but symptoms are back. Discomfort with pain. Waiting for tests to be finished, dr gave me this to see if it would help with the discomfort and bowel normalcy. I was hesitant to take this but read it relaxes the nerves in your gi tract so thought what could it hurt? Kicked in almost instantly but was on the toilet multiple times with diarrhea like a stream. Pain in abdomen was gone but felt very lethargic after. Drank a body armor and giant water. It’s now late in the evening and my heart is still beating faster than normal. Going to drink a liquid iv before bed. Hope I feel better tomorrow. I will not take this medication again. Read More Read Less

Since I was a kid I've had issues not being able to poop. I'm 44 now and was going little rabbit pellets every two weeks with daily nausea, pain, bloating, etc. After many other meds, barium swallow, colonoscopies, and endoscopies my doctor put me on Linzess and it's been a week and like others the first dose worked in a couple hours. It got out some rabbit pellets. The second day more rabbit pellets. Every day since I've gone twice a day normal poop no diarrhea or pain. take this on an empty stomach and you should be fine. i am so grateful to finally feel what it's like to poop like a normal person! I have a history of chronic constipation. The first day on this medication, I had loose stool. As I took it longer, it started to not work as well. Started taking it when I need it and works better for me that way.

The first time I took it I experienced pain similar to a uti…so i stopped immediately…few months later i tried again to no discomfort, felt a little bloated and gassy…effect was way to sudden than i expected. So I took the runs and the once a day dose religiously…I gained 5 pounds in a weeks and the scale was just going upwards. I go to the gym everyday for almost an hour, my diet is not horrible…and this came as a nightmarish surprise…i had diarrhea everyday and was becoming a huge mass…i stopped a week ago, and lost 4 pound. This is some, no pun intended, a crappy med…AVoid it at all costs…went back to senna, and i feel great. F. Linzees and the doctor who prescribed this $600 poison. Drink lots of water, try Metamucil, exercise, but avoid the business of the pharm cartels Read More Read Less

I am 59 yo, with IBS-C nearly all my life. I've taken linzess 290 mcg daily with breakfast for nearly 2 years and seems to no longer work for me, I still have to take colace, miralax daily and still no movement for days. Was hopeful linzess would work but now trying to get another option.

Honestly, for IBS C it doesn't work not even 2x a day on 290 mcg. You have to drink a ton of water to not dehydrate. It swells your hemmroids so you crap blood like being on your period. I'm Going back to fiber and miralax it's also cheaper. Made my life even worse taking linzess!

I have suffered with IBS-C and gastroparesis. Linzess is my bff. It has worked wonders. I wasn’t going to the bathroom sometimes for 14 days. It cleared me out after 4 hours of first dose. No bloating anymore. Thank you to the doctor and the makers of this drug.

Took about 2 weeks to start working. Had a little bit of bowel movements but then side effects also set in which included extreme fatigue, nausea, shakiness, dizziness and muscle weakness. I think it raised my blood glucose although I'm only pre-diabetic I showed all the signs of high blood glucose. The fatigue was awful I think I had a bad reaction to it. Went back to Doctor and he had me stop use. Not very good compared to the nasty side effects I experienced. Hoping this stuff gets out of my system quickly and giving Miralax a try as I've tried everything else. Good luck fellow constipators just be careful.Read More Read Less

As I write this I am laying in bed and very afraid. I am not sure if I am having a heart attack or if the gas is so extreme whatever it is I am struggling breathing. I’ve taken this medication for 14 days and it has been an absolute nightmare.
