I started taking this medication almost year ago for endometriosis. In the beginning it was awful, I had the side effects. From bloating to weight gain and my moods were all over the place. I kept taking it as it's my last option to prevent more surgeries and I'm glad I did. After a few months the side effects went away and my moods are back to normal. I know you read some bad reviews but if you c...

My doctor gave me this to stop my heavy bleeding as my blood count was way down. Since taking it (since early-2008), I have turned into an old man; my skin and hair have become thin, greasy scalp and shrinking breasts. Yuck. Now my doctor says I have fibroids on my uterus and wants me to have a hysterectomy. I wish I could have my periods back and just take iron pills. If I stop taking the pi...

I started taking this pill because for a little over a year before taking this i habe bad ovulation cramps. For the intended use it has done amazing! I have also had no nausea, headaches, or irregular periods, but there was one side affect I can not handle anymore and that is the acne it gave me. During the third week my skin broke out really bad. I had a ton of blackheads and red irrated pimples. For that reason alone I'm going to stop taking norethindrone, buth other thab that minor side affect the pill was great. Read More Read Less

Having suffered with endometriosis for many years and having been on lupron, having several lazor procedures, my pain had returned. My final option was ovary removal. Not keen on having yet another surgery I sought a second opinion. After several months my pain dramatically subsided, and disappeared after a year of use. I had very little side effects, and successful was able to lose 20 pounds via eating healthy and exercising while on this medication. I can honestly say this medication has been a God send for me. I was started on this medication for birth control while I was breast feeding, but continued to take it after breast feeding. It has been almost a year. Has been effective preventing pregnancy. I have had constipation frequently on the pill, but try to eat extra fiber containing foods to help prevent that. Some spotting in between periods/irregular cycles. Overall satisfied with this medication.

I took this after bariatric surgery threw my period off tracks. I was on constant month long periods with only a few weeks of break if that. The breaking point was when I was changing my super tampons AND pads every hour and a half from how heavy my period was. I tried everything. As a result I was diagnosed with Anemia and needed blood transfusion. This medication although its side effects were evident (dizzy, lightheadedness, nausea) ended this torture in 2 days! And I am ever so grateful.

I have severe endo and was recently diagnosed with Adenomyosis as well. My GYN put me on Norethindrone 5 mg to help with the severe monthly pain.I started the pill in April 2015, it was horrible, I spotted for months. I wanted to stop taking it but my GYN encouraged me to continue as it can take up to 2 or 3 months for the bleeding to stop. I can happily say that I have no excruciating pain but I get horrible mood swings &hot flashes. These symptoms are terrible but I rather cope with them than the excruciating pain, heavy flow and huge clottsRead More Read Less

Had hypertension at the age of 24. Turned out to be from my old birth control pills (estrogen). My heart specialist was trying to figure out ways to solve my problem without prescribing me blood pressure meds, since I am so young. First approach was diet change and exercise. Did not help. Turned out to be the estrogen. Talked to my gyno and they prescribed me this birth control. It does its job but the side effects weren't too pleasant. I gained about 20 lbs in 6 months, have back pain constantly and got moody (sad/angry), very sever tenderness of beasts , acne, fatigue, bad cramps/heavy periods in the beginning and lack of being.... sexually aroused(horrible I know) but it is doing its initial job and my blood pressure has gone down! I have to keep taking it for my health (I refuse to get the depo shot or the nuvaring) and don't want children for a few years. Might still ask my gyno for other options. I'll be 26 in a month. I hope it has good future side effects like I've read from other posts!Read More Read Less

Taking as birth control while breastfeeding. No side effects, not pregnant again, no period (which could partly be due to breastfeeding), I just don't always remember to take it exactly at the same time every day. Happy with it so far.

I was on this pill for 14 month. I am now off, this is why: My first symptom was extreme vaginal dryness during intercourse, heightened libido (extremely), weight loss, and very irregular periods (from a 26 day cycle to a 36 day cycle). The reason I stopped was when my hair started to shed excessively. I became very concerned. When I ran my fingers through my hair it just didn't feel like it usually had, that made me very concerned. I talk to my doctor who took me off the pill and tested my blood. I then went in a month later for another blood test and review. It ended up that in the first blood test my testosterone levels came back that of a 15 year old boy (very high). Also my liver was working overtime because of the excess hormones. The test the month later came back with a normal liver and normal testosterone levels. After a month of being off the pill I realized that I am much less aggressive and much more happy. This pill was a nightmare in the end. As a woman you want to keep your hair.Read More Read Less

I began taking 5 mg Norethindrone three years ago for endometriosis, heavy and painful periods, and ovarian cysts. I've had multiple surgeries and the endo would grow back. I was taking massive amounts of ibuprofen every month since I was 15. Norethindrone has stopped my periods and the pain. No more ibuprofen needed! I've had a few side effects - breast tenderness in the beginning, which subsided, occasional ovarian pain and some headaches, but I will take that over the pain I was dealing with every month. I wish I could take it forever. Read More Read Less

Taking for Birth control. I have never taken this birth control before. At no time did the Dr. ever tell me about not having a period. I just learned about not having a period by reading all the reviews. This pill is crazy! waking up with wet like oily hair, weight gain, and crazy premenstrual mood swings and cramps but no period!

I was prescribed this medication for birth control and heavy periods, plus ovarian cysts...I started spotting, break through bleeding (light) at beginning of 4th week. I have noticed that my breasts are incredibly sore.. painful. My nipples are always enlarged. Even just to graze them was hurtful. Ive also noticed that my temper has increased, less patience.

I am taking this medication to jump start my periods. It has been over six months since I have had a cycle and my husband and I are trying to have our first child. With in 4 days of taking this medication I feel six, my back is in unbelievable pain, my abdomen is in pain, I can't sleep and began throwing up this morning. Not fun, will not be taking this med again.

I had heavy period for over 4 months and ended up in the hospital needing 4 bags of blood and 3 bags of IV iron. While in the hospital i was given a different hormone and it stopped the bleeding in 2 days and i had no more spotting or bleeding until i ran out of the pills...i saw the doc and he gave me this drug telling me to take it up to 6 times a day until my bleeding stopped. It never actually stopped on this drug. I bled every day some days light and some more clotty and heavy. It did not work for me to control my bleeding. I am going back to taking the provera i was given the first time and hopefully this will work. To the woman who thinks her doctor is being dramatic saying she will need a transfusion from heavy bleeding please trust the doctor as it happened to me. My hemoglobins were so low it was ruining my quality of life. I couldn't breathe at all even at rest. Do what the doctor tells you to control your bleeding. Read More Read Less
