Today I have been taking Contrave for 30 days. I am 5'7" & was 188 lbs. when I began.  In 30 days I lost 10 lbs. virtually effortlessly.  10 lbs. is not a lot of weight, and I have 33 more lbs. to loose to get to a healthy weight, but considering I sit at a desk all day & study at a desk all evening & never exercise I am thrilled.  The first 2 days I took the medication I felt a little "disconnect...

I took Contrave for 3 weeks following directions. After a few days, I started to feel dryness in my mouth which followed by constant strong bitter taste. I decided to stick to it, but by the end of week three late at night I suddenly started to feel a sharp pain in my lower back which quickly started to spread out up my body. I felt a sharp pain in my chest & back, tightness in my chest and shortn...

Have been on this for a month. No weight loss, no change in appetite. Side effects on full dose include jerking limbs, clenched jaw, headache, and constant fatigue. Discontinuing today. Really disappointed.

I've had no side effects. While weight loss seems slow, I have lost 10% of body weight in 2 months WITHOUT feeling deprived. I also don't feel on edge, like other pills can cause.

Starting on my 3rd week on Contrave. The side effects the first 1.5 weeks were tolerable: headaches, nausea, insomnia. The pill does curb my appetite, and makes me crave healthy food. I seemed to lose weight immediately, but today I weighed myself and noticed I'm only down 1lb total from my starting weight. I don't understand how I can eat significantly less calories, but still only lose 1lb. I have been exercising 2x a week. I'm very depressed over this as it seems like some have lost a significant amount of weight by now. Ugh....Read More Read Less

Have been on Contrave for two weeks, have lost 4 pounds, eating healthy foods and not starving myself (1400 calories per day). Have had no noticeable side effects so far. Using My Fitness Pal to track calories and electronic smart scale and Scale Down program. LOVE the scale, works great. I was previously on Weight Watchers and lost 25 pounds and then hot a plateau for six m months. This is the first time that I am losing two pounds a week. The medication makes sweets taste nauseatingly sweet, so I only have small portions of what were "trigger foods." Meds are taking the edge off my cravings and appetite, making it easier to avoid junk food and fast food. But no pill is a "magic bullet" and I still need to exercise and eat healthy food, but meds are giving my weight loss efforts a definite boost. Read More Read Less

Day 2 - I have just begun the first few days of 1 single pill at 7 a.m. daily. I've not noticed any side effects, however, I was very short with my teens this morning and that may or may not be related (cause they are teens of course). I have noticed on day 2 I have almost no cravings for lunch although I know I should be hungry.

I am on week two 1 pill in am and 1 pill in pm. Side effects have been minimal..nausea, occasional headache, tiredness. I have about a 3lb weight loss with occasional exercise and just watching calories (loosely) I plan to ramp up the exercise this week and start journaling my eating..I NEED this pill to help me drop lbs. It has however, really improved my mood. Good luck all on this weightloss journey.

I guess its my turn to write my review on this medication- The first day was pure HELL. I took the pill around 7:30am on my way to work. (I had been taking welbutrin twice daily for weight loss before the contrave and always took it at that time). When I got to work, I felt very "not myself." Hazy would be a good work to describe it. I started feeling very hot in my face and incredibly nauseous!! by 10:30 I was doing all I could to try and focus on my work but I just couldn't hold on any longer. I took my break early and tried to close my eyes and rest for 30 minutes. When I was finished with my break I did feel slightly better, but the hazy feeling was still present. The effects started to wear off completely around 3pm. My problem time is usually in the afternoons when I return from work, so since the medication had already worn off when I got home, I did not notice that it had helped with my eating in the afternoon. It did help in the morning- but only because I was so sick to my stomach I couldn't even imagine eating anything. The second day, I took the contrave with food at the same time in the am and felt slightly better as far as the sick to stomach feeling- but still had the hazy feeling and very tired. I am on day 7 now and continue to have this hazy, very tired feeling and I am considering stopping the medication. I do not feel like I am myself, I am scared to drive, and I just do not think I am able to make sound choices when I am taking this drug. i have not lost any weight. I actually gained 3lbs. I really had high hopes for this medication but its really not worth it for the side effects. As i type this, i am sweaty, dizzy, and nauseous- but i have no choice to bear through it for the next 5 hours since the pill is the ER form. Read More Read Less

i have lost nearly 20 lbs in 5 weeks. At first I felt spacey and a bit anxious, but after a while that eased off. Now I feel completely normal, and the only side effect I experience noe is occasional constipation.

I was hopeful when I started this medication but after being on it one week I have decided to stop taking it. I have started having horrible violent nightmares. My family and I have both noticed that I am very emotional as well as extremely sleepy.

Started May 16th, was a little nauseated the first day. Major headache and sweating though. Did notice my urge to snack has diminished as well as my urge to smoke. My overall mood has lightened but I haven't had the weight loss breakthrough I had hoped for but will at least finish the month.

I started on contrave at the end of October 2014. The first month I lost 10 pounds with little effort. The second month I lost another 10 but I also started to exercise 2-4 times a week depending on my work schedule. Since then I am averaging about 5 pounds a month. I am in my seventh month now and am 35 pounds down. I exercise and eat less. However I have tried this in the past with little on no weight lost; I love this medication.

I'm on day 2. Im laying in the bed as I type this. I haven't felt this bad since I had morning sickness 23 years ago. I've been so nauseous I can barely function. This $60 was definitely a waste of my money. I can't say it works or not and I don't plan on taking another dose. Spending my Saturday trying to avoid puking is not my idea of weight loss.

I took only the first tablet. Within 2hours of taking it the room was spinning and I felt sick to my stomach. This lasted from 8am until 12am the next day. I will never take another one. I spent $70.00 after their pharmacy savings program and it was a waste of money.

This takes away my cravings and I do not binge. My mood is also much better. I think this drug works best for people who emotionally eat or eat for cravings. It is not like the speed type pills where you feel wired all day and have no appetite , but I feel that this is better for long term use. I felt a little spacey the first few days but it went away and now I feel great. I think the wellbutrin in it is really helping my mood as well. I did this combined with opifast and lost 20 lbs in 2 months and have kept it off. Read More Read Less

started Contrave one week ago down 4 pounds. Side effects are a general depressed feeling at first, with a disconnected feeling. It desenstizes you. Apetite has most def changed. I no longer crave sweets, and things I wouldve normally jumped into. I get nauseated a little at times, but its usually when Im hungry, or have not had enough water, or if I have eaten something very fatty, which i do not. very gassy at times. but overall not that bad. Only thing i wish were different is that i do not want to exercise, its def not an upper type of drug. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL, i had a one drink for Cinco De Mayo and had to leave the table, it will makes you very hauseated. One drink will feel like 3,Read More Read Less

I have been taking Contrave for three months now. I am down only a few pounds but have not been following a diet. I was hoping it would have lessen my hunger and cravings more. I did smoke occasionally and it did take away that desire. I overall feel wonderful on it. I'm normally sensitive to medications but I have had very few side effects. Even though I have just maintained my weight, I want to stay on it for how well it makes me feel.

I've taken this drug for two months. While I haven't experienced headaches or nausea, I haven't lost weight either. I have however, maintained my weight with little effort. The scale down program sounds interesting until you have to weigh everyday. The text aren't really that effective and it's a pain to have to weigh every day. I think I should go back to adipex.
