Today I have been taking Contrave for 30 days. I am 5'7" & was 188 lbs. when I began.  In 30 days I lost 10 lbs. virtually effortlessly.  10 lbs. is not a lot of weight, and I have 33 more lbs. to loose to get to a healthy weight, but considering I sit at a desk all day & study at a desk all evening & never exercise I am thrilled.  The first 2 days I took the medication I felt a little "disconnect...

I took Contrave for 3 weeks following directions. After a few days, I started to feel dryness in my mouth which followed by constant strong bitter taste. I decided to stick to it, but by the end of week three late at night I suddenly started to feel a sharp pain in my lower back which quickly started to spread out up my body. I felt a sharp pain in my chest & back, tightness in my chest and shortn...

Overall, no sickness. I'm in my 3rd week. I'm down about 5 lbs with no exercise. I plan to start exercising asap. I eat a lot of protein and stay away from carbs as much as possible. It makes me feel full fast. So far pretty well pleased.

I'm currently on my second week one pill in the am and 1 in the pm, if I take my pill with food it doesn't give me nausea but at the beginning I was taking it without eating and it yes the nausea was bad...dry mouth, crazy dreams, can't sleep unless I take a benadryl. What bothers me is that I exercise daily burn around 500 calories and still the weight is not coming off! Not sure if it's too soon and I probably have to be patient.. I'll update in a few more weeks!

This past August I started this medicine. I weighed in at 189. In September I weighed in and was down to 172. I am now down to 140. I started in size 16-18 clothes. I now wear a size 7 in pants and small in shirts but could wear extra small. The only problem I have with it it the side effect of constipation. Can anyone give a suggestion to remedy this problem? I have tried changing my diet to help this. Thanks for any advice.

My third week, and so far, not sure if this drug is working. One thing I have noticed is that the weight reading I see on the scale is off from what is posted on the website for my readings. Not a biggie, but anyway. This is only my third week. After my 4th week, not sure how many pills I am supposed to take. I've had no side effects from what my spouse can tell.

Took 1 dose (1 pill)...within an hour I was itching like crazy! Sweaty palms, fuzzy thinking. Horrible! No more! Next day still having side affects. I felt so bad I never want to take another pill ever!

I use Contrave after having no sustained loss with other drugs. Over 4 months I have went from 195 to 175. I have more energy that accounts for part of the weight loss. And I have less appetite. Blood pressure seems to be slightly lower. I have had a side effect of hard stools. And I find many foods are much less desirable, which can be considered as good or bad. So far I would say this is close to ideal for a weight loss drug! (If you can't get a low cost with insurance google for a coupon...about $65/month)Read More Read Less

1. After 3 months. Lost 5 pounds. I lost when I cut calories to 1500 or less, and exercised. It's my fault I'm not exercising as much...I'm always tired but that might be due to thyroid. 2. Take bonine to help with the nausea. 3. The headaches and nausea went away after 2nd month.

I have a very specific issue that prevents me from losing weight. I tend to binge eat, and have an extremely difficult time walking away from food. Late night snacks are killers. Contrave definitely takes the edge off where I can be disciplined about my eating, and I don't crave foods like I used to. It doesn't help your metabolism, or burn fat, or anything like that. So, if you eat the same and take it, it will do nothing for you. But, if your problem is an obsession with food, and a craving for sweets and snacks, this drug could really help. I have been on the drug for 3 weeks and have lost 8 pounds.Read More Read Less

I only have one issue my insurance won't pay. The pharmacy won't except the coupon. But I still pay about 170.00 for six week supply. I guess it better than the full price. Can't seem to get any pharmacy to except the 70.00 coupon.

I have been very happy with Contrave. My only side effect has been constipation. I was taking 2 pills twice daily but dropped it back to 1 twice daily. That seemed to help. I also take a supplement twice daily for the constipation. I have lost 20 pounds since starting on the medication and am now on the borderline for my correct BMI. Plan to continue for a few more months then wean myself off.

Week 3 - 2morning pills/one evening I have had a fair amount of side effects - dry mouth, dreams, nausea all were manageable until today and the migraine and nausea got pretty bad. Nausea mostly went away after I ate mid afternoon. Do not know if I have lost, have not weighed myself. Def. curbs appetite and cravings. I talk a lot and seems to make me a bit more talkative. Some jitters etc. What I am wondering is will the headache go away after my body levels out a bit or do I just go back to 2 pills a day (morning/evening). Have not seen a feedback/comment tabs to postings and wish there was so I could get feedback. Don't want to give up.Read More Read Less

I started my diet November 1, 2015. I weighed 372, I am 5'6(female). It is now December 14, 2015 and I currently weight 358. I have been on a no sweets, no alcohol, no bread diet where I eat mainly fruits, veggies, fish or chicken. I drink plenty of water daily and do at least 30mintues of exercise whether it be walking or going to the gym. The first week on this pill I experienced all the normal side-effects (headaches, tummy aches, hazy feeling and a tiny bit of nausea.) Once you get through the week most of the side-effects go away. I only had headaches week 2-4 when it was time to take another pill however the headaches weren't every day or extremely painful..just dull aches for me. I could not manage 2 pills in the morning and 2 in the evening so I stuck with 1 pill in the morning and 1 in the evening. The cravings left after the 3rd day on the pill and it is true, you often have to remind yourself to eat. I am continuing to use this product as it has been helpful to me and I wish every one luck. Hang in there.Read More Read Less

I experienced nausea, dry mouth, feeling so tired that I had trouble staying awake at times. I felt a little fuzzy mentally for the first few weeks. I didn't lose any weight at all until my 5th week, and have now lost 7 lbs all of a sudden without any exercise or change in my diet. It has taken away my cravings for sweets and chocolate. Some days I will go most of the day without remembering to even eat. At the 6 week mark, my mouth is very dry, I have a metallic taste in my mouth, and have started having some very detailed and sometimes scary dreams. Going to keep going as long as I keep seeing progress!Read More Read Less

I have been taking this since April, so far 40lbs and counting. Have reached a plateau but not gaining! Still able to control portions but have had a Sciatic attack that has kept me from my walking. Got through Thanksgiving with no gain and am looking forward to getting through Christmas. Started at 294 and Dr wants me down to 220 so 34 more to go. Then I'll just be overweight!

No unpleasant, lasting side effects. In beginning, thirsty and dry mouth. No dizziness or change in restroom habits, other than size of BMs (smaller than past, due to less food intake.) It is worth noting that I have been prescribed Wellbutrin in the past and tolerated the drug well. I do not have high blood pressure. Also of note is the suppression of desire to consume alcohol. Normally a consumer of one or more alcoholic beverages per day, usually at evening meal time.

52 year old woman. Been on Contrave for 4 months and have lost only 20 pounds! I totally count calories and exercise for a minimum of 1/2 a day. I feel I could lose this much without the $60 a month pills! I've also have developed very sore thigh muscles and tremendous groin pain. I don't know if that is a result of the Contrave or the exercise. Disappointed with Contrave. I'm considering stopping Contrave.

I've been on contrave since March 2015. I am down very close to 75 pounds. It has completely knocked my addiction for food out of sight. I no longer crave chocolate and have found myself NOT finishing a full plate of food. Also, my anxiety is so much better. It's so good- I went on a tropical vacation this year for the first time in all of my 35 years!
