Today I have been taking Contrave for 30 days. I am 5'7" & was 188 lbs. when I began.  In 30 days I lost 10 lbs. virtually effortlessly.  10 lbs. is not a lot of weight, and I have 33 more lbs. to loose to get to a healthy weight, but considering I sit at a desk all day & study at a desk all evening & never exercise I am thrilled.  The first 2 days I took the medication I felt a little "disconnect...

I took Contrave for 3 weeks following directions. After a few days, I started to feel dryness in my mouth which followed by constant strong bitter taste. I decided to stick to it, but by the end of week three late at night I suddenly started to feel a sharp pain in my lower back which quickly started to spread out up my body. I felt a sharp pain in my chest & back, tightness in my chest and shortn...

I have been on Contrave since April and have lost 12 pounds. In the beginning I did experience dizziness and took Dramamine for a couple of days and was fine.I take one pill in the am and 2 pills late afternoon. In the morning since taking Contrave not hungry, and find myself not snacking.I feel if I exercise more I will be able to continue losing.Contrave definitely does curb your appetite.

Right at the end of my 3rd week I had a severe allergic reaction to the medication. I have been to urgent care twice now because the first allergy medication did not work. I have hives all over my face and body. Please take the side effects seriously. An allergic reaction to the medication is extremely rare but it happened to me.

I have been on Contrave for a little over 4 months now and have lost 60 lbs. I love this medication. It has curbed my appetite and helped tremendously with my cravings for sweets. I feel more energetic. I am only on 2 pills a day. Only side effect I have experienced is mild constipation.

I've been on Contrave 5 weeks. no weight loss and I've reduced my calories to 1200-1500 range, and jog 3x a week. Headaches and nauseous first 4 weeks, it finally subsided. Dry mouth often - but that's not a big deal. Keep gum and lifesavers with you. I hope I start to loose weight. And I don't feel any change in depression level.

I have been on Contrave for 3 months. It has done a wonderful job of making my cravings for fatty sugary food nearly non existent. As of now I track my calorie intake, limiting it to 1500 a day. At times it takes work to eat that much. So far I have lost 30 pounds with no change in my activity level.

Contrave has removed my compulsion to eat between meals. I track my food, otherwise I am not eating enough. Some side effects: dry mouth, feel like I've had an espresso, constipation. These are abating as time goes on. For now, I am staying at 3/day, as this is working fine.

I have gained five pounds since I started taking Contrave. I am now on four pills a day and it is not helping with my appetite. I am hungry and my stomach growls. This is when I tend to overeat. I also like to snack at night. I realize that diet and exercise are key to weight loss. Since I turned 35 it seems that my hormones are out of whack. I literally feel hungry all the time. Like I did when I was pregnant. I HATE it. I was hoping this would help. I also feel no side-effects. I think if anything I am less blah. I feel a little more upbeat. Read More Read Less

My gynecologist put me on this medicine 7 weeks ago today. I have to lose 5% of my body weight within the first 12 weeks or I will be taken off the program. As of today I am down 16.1 lbs. I haven't done much exercise at all other than normal walking, although I do still go to class on campus and my fiance loves to walk around the mall and different stores. I have tried to do portion control and also stay under 2000 calories a day. I haven't experienced any side effects (or if I have they weren't big enough to notice). I'm getting married in September and I really hope I'm able to continue on the medication and get down much more. I do wish my employer had chosen a prescription plan that would cover this, it would definitely be cheaper, but my dr gave me a discount card which keeps it somewhat affordable. Read More Read Less

In have been taking Contrave for 3 months. I am a 45 year old female. I suffer form depression which has lead to me taking drugs that caused weight gain. I have never been over weight until after my forties and antidepressant drugs were the cause of much weight gain. My doctor prescribed this drug for my depression and weight gain. It did take about 6 weeks to adjust to the side effects. Insomnia, upset stomach and constipation. I am now symptom free. I have lost 11 lbs. I do light exercise and not much cardio. I have been highly satisfied with this drug. Contrave is giving you a discount card when prescribed to take the cost down to 65.00 without prescription. You also get 3 months free scale down program and a scale sent to you to monitor your weight loss. Give this drug time to work. The side effects will decrease in time.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Contrave for exactly 4 weeks today and am down 10lbs. I have not changed much in my daily routine, but I definitely cannot eat as much as I did before taking this medication. I have not really increased my physical activity, except maybe walking a bit more than usual. I am very satisfied with this medication so far. Especially since prior to taking it I started working out (weights/cardio) for 3 months and never lost a SINGLE pound or even inches. I have not experiences any of the side effects some people on here complained about, except for maybe some mild constipation and trouble falling asleep if I take the 2nd dose too late in the day. I really hope this continues to work for me as I hope to lose another 70-80 lbs!!!! Wish me luck! :)Read More Read Less

I'm a 40 year old female, hypothyroid for many years started Contrave about a month ago and really had no side effects. I waited a week and just listened to my body and some of the side effects I was already living with. I had a blood test for my thyroid and it was overworking big time. I was in the hyperthyroid range! The doc lowered my thyroid meds but I'm wondering if they need to be lowered even more. I've lost about 6 pounds, not the best but slow and steady! I still love sweets and whatnot, I just don't crave them like before. My doc told me to take the pills, 6am and 6pm because they work overnight. I know lots of people are taking them differently. Hope this helps! Read More Read Less

I used contrave for a month. I was more hungry using the medication, than without it. I got almost all the side effects,in the end didn't work for me at all.

I've been on Contrave for exactly 2 weeks now and I've lost 8lbs so far. I go out walking 3-4 times per week, at least 30-45 minutes each time (or however long it takes me to hit 10,000 on my Fitbit). I had some nausea the first couple of days of being on Contrave, but that went away and I have not had nausea since, even when stepping up the dosage. I haven't really had any other negative side effects. Considering how much I have to lose (60 to go!) I'm very glad my ARNP recommended Contrave to me. Takeda made it affordable with their pharmacy card. The Scale Down program bothers me a bit though. If you step on the scale and it's not calibrated correctly, you can get the wrong weight (I still have my old scale and compared the two). Unfortunately, Scale Down will only register that first weight and won't record any other measurements for the given day.Read More Read Less

Contrave has been working awesome for me. I started 1 Month ago, and I have lost 14 pounds. I also exercise for 45mins 5 days a week, burning about 500-600cals. I no longer have cravings, that result in poor food choices. I really kills any hunger pains all together. I would recommend this to anyone.. Keep in mind the first week is the adjusting part. Dry mouth was the worst of it! Your body will get used to it..

10/25/15-I started taking this medication yesterday. My initial weight is 183 lbs and my goal weight is 145lbs. I do feel like the pill has had some effect on my appetite but not as much as I was hoping for. I don't struggle as much to control my impulse to eat but it is still there. I'm hoping that once I start taking the additional pills I will be able to control my impulse to eat. I have a little bit of a dry mouth, sleeping the same, and no bathroom issues. I will update my stats in a week....Read More Read Less

I have been using Contrave for almost 2 months and have found it to be great. I have lost 13 pounds without any exercise. Some days I do forget to take it. I have had 0 side effects. It actually lightens my mood a little. I have not been as hungry. I would highly suggest giving it a try.
