Today I have been taking Contrave for 30 days. I am 5'7" & was 188 lbs. when I began.  In 30 days I lost 10 lbs. virtually effortlessly.  10 lbs. is not a lot of weight, and I have 33 more lbs. to loose to get to a healthy weight, but considering I sit at a desk all day & study at a desk all evening & never exercise I am thrilled.  The first 2 days I took the medication I felt a little "disconnect...

I took Contrave for 3 weeks following directions. After a few days, I started to feel dryness in my mouth which followed by constant strong bitter taste. I decided to stick to it, but by the end of week three late at night I suddenly started to feel a sharp pain in my lower back which quickly started to spread out up my body. I felt a sharp pain in my chest & back, tightness in my chest and shortn...

I have just finished my 7th day and have lost 5.5 pounds. I am not hungry. I have been a soda drinker for many years and barely want a sip. I also have stopped drinking wine. It just stopped- no side effects. My mood is good, sleep is same as it was, and i don't have any bathroom issues. Love it!

I started on Monday and thus far, I've not seen the benefit from it. The first day I seemed to yawn a lot, but that's about it. I've been tired at 9pm and haven't had any trouble sleeping really. I'm hoping that as I increase the dosage, the effect will be more noticeable. After reading so many positive reviews, I want to believe this is going to work for me to stop eating when I feel full instead of stuffing more food in my mouth. Maybe I have a lower dose pill? I'm not giving up though, some benefit is better than no benefit. Read More Read Less

40 yr old female, BMI 25, starting weight 152. Now 140. In one month, I've lost 12 pounds! You have to push through the drosiness as you titrate up in dosage. The only true side effects I've experienced are wicked, vivid, life like dreams & sweating. Other than this, I'm at the gym 4-5 days a week and with my curbed appetite, I can focus on a healthier diet

I have been on Contrave since Aug. 8 & have lost 14 lbs. so far. As long as I watch what I eat, I usually at least lose 1 lb. or stay the same. Since I am 63, I have had difficulty losing weight & this is working!! I think it would work better if I would exercise more & eat out less. However, I have had a problem with nausea on & off. I wish I knew what was causing it. I am keeping a log, & so far can't figure it out. Is it better to take it more than 12 hours apart? I usually take it first thing in the morning & before bed. Eat less fat?? Does it build up in the system? For some reason, I have had more nausea lately. I hardly ever drink alcohol. During the first week, I had 2 big margaritas & was very nauseaus the next day, so I thought it was from that??Read More Read Less

I've been taking it for 5 days. I've lost 3 pounds. If you can just get through the nausea the 1st few days your good to go! Here's what I've found, if you eat something substantial like a piece of toasted bread & yogurt the nausea is almost non existent! Can't wait to see what the future holds!

On week 3 and have had very little side effects. Last week had some nausea off and on throughout the day but not bad. I've had no headaches or any other symptoms others have mentioned.Lost 8 pounds by just taking this and eating healthy. Will Start exercising this week. The desire to eat is gone and have to force self to eat 3 meals a day and to drink. At meals I am satisfied with a quarter of what I used to eat even my favorite foods and the old need for sweets is gone. All that being said there have been a 2 or 3 days where I was hungry and ate more but they have occured on the days after I barely ate at all. On those days my intake was less than 800 calories, so being more hungry makes sense. My average intake now is around 1000 calories. Before it was no telling how much but a guess would be upwards of 3 or 4 thousand calories. Can't wait to see how fast the weight falls off once I'm exercising!Read More Read Less

I have only been on Contrave for one week, and have lost 5 pounds. I felt a little nausea, headache and just "odd" the first few days, but then my side effects stopped. I have stopped drinking wine every night, which is an accomplishment in itself. I'm only starting to take two pills a day today.

I have been on Contrave for 5 days and I have already lost 5 lbs. It works exactly as they tell you it will. No cravings. I am a little nauseated, but not bad. I have been on every diet drug under the sun and this one is at the top of the list.

I am ending month 2 and have lost 20 lbs. The only side effect I have had is increased sweating. However, I do live in South Florida and the humidity may be doing this. I have had no other issues.

It will be 1 month on Contave October 7th and my beginning weight was 242lbs and now I'm 221lbs. The key to this medicine for me is exercise and eating right. I eat right drinking plenty of water and I walk a mile on my treadmill everyday. I hope my update helps. BTW all of my side effects went away after 2 weeks on this medication.

I started medication 11 days ago and have lost 8 pounds.the first day i took it it left me foggie, tired and just feeling odd.the next day i took half a pill and felt fine.I have continued to only take half a pill a day and have never lost weight so easily. In addition to not being hungry and getting full really fast when I do eat, I have been able to cut my daily wine routine to a few days a week from every day. So for those of you with the bad side effects you mite consider taking less before giving up on this medication.Read More Read Less

I have been on Contrave for a month now. First time I tried it I gave because of the nausea. However, a friend who has had great success with Contrave gave me a way around the side effects! What a difference it has made. In the 2nd time around I took a 1/2 dramamin tablet. I only had the jitters for about 2 days and all side effects went away. I have hypothyroidism and it is very hard to lose weight especially someone in my age bracket of 48 and female. 1 month in and I have lost 6 pounds. I changed what I ate and when I ate. Just because your not hungry doesn't mean you shouldn't eat, but eat something that is good for you. Starvation is not the key to this pill. Example, I eat oatmeal in the am along with a piece of friut. Lunch is a salad or something similar. Dinner is normal. I eat what I want just a lot less. I take my pills about 5:30 am and the 2nd ones at 2:00 pm. Perfect for breakfast & lunch and then for dinner I am not at all hungry but I do eat something! I hope this helps. I also walk every day so my weight loss is slow and steady which is good cause it will come back if you do not exercise. You don't have to kill yourself with exercise but you do have to do some if only one day a week. Good luck! I will post again in 30 days!!!Read More Read Less

I've been talking contrave for 2 weeks and I only experience 1 side effect and that is the headaches. I'm still hungry and still have food craving. I'll try to tough it out. Will update in 2 more weeks. Has anyone with hypothyroidism was able to lose weight taking this medicine?

I've been using Contrave for a little over 3 weeks. So far so good. I am 7 lbs down. I have not experienced any of the side effects I've read about in other reviews. I try to keep the doses 12 hours apart.

I've been taking Contrave for a little over a month, and I don't care for it. It makes me feel depressed, kind of defeated and irritable. Also, it gives me a really dry mouth. Also, I would like to know if anyone else has experienced severe jaw pain and acne breakouts from this medication? I've always had nice skin, but I've been broken out on my chin, neck, and back for over a month now and I'm finally making the connection that it may be the medication. I thought it was from the heat and working out. Read More Read Less
