Today I have been taking Contrave for 30 days. I am 5'7" & was 188 lbs. when I began.  In 30 days I lost 10 lbs. virtually effortlessly.  10 lbs. is not a lot of weight, and I have 33 more lbs. to loose to get to a healthy weight, but considering I sit at a desk all day & study at a desk all evening & never exercise I am thrilled.  The first 2 days I took the medication I felt a little "disconnect...

I took Contrave for 3 weeks following directions. After a few days, I started to feel dryness in my mouth which followed by constant strong bitter taste. I decided to stick to it, but by the end of week three late at night I suddenly started to feel a sharp pain in my lower back which quickly started to spread out up my body. I felt a sharp pain in my chest & back, tightness in my chest and shortn...

I've been taking contrave for little over 1 month and have lost zero weight! My doctor told me to keep taking it a little bit longer.

I've been taking Contrave for a little over a month, and I don't care for it. It makes me feel depressed, kind of defeated and irritable. Also, it gives me a really dry mouth. Also, I would like to know if anyone else has experienced severe jaw pain and acne breakouts from this medication? I've always had nice skin, but I've been broken out on my chin, neck, and back for over a month now and I'm finally making the connection that it may be the medication. I thought it was from the heat and working out. Read More Read Less

I took Contrave for one week. The first 6 days it made me yawn incessantly, I was very sleepy, I was dizzy and light-headed, and I felt woozy. It felt like something was going on in my brain. I was difficulty eating at all some days and it took away my interest in liquids as well. I was not really interested in food or drink. I lost 4 pounds that week, however on the 7th day I had dry heaves, a constant feeling that I was going to gag, but I never did. Also on day 7 I felt like my heart was beating faster, and I began monitoring my blood pressure. I felt so bad that I had to leave work and go home to bed where I had to stay until the med wore off. I couldn't wait for it to get out of my system because I felt so poorly that day. It felt like even the beginning dose of one a day was too strong for me. My doctor would like me to try again, however it was a bad experience and at this time I feel like I cannot.Read More Read Less

I am on day 6. On day 1, I had some cramping when I ate and skipped lunch. I also had a small headache for 2 days. The rest of the week went well. I have always wanted to eat sweets and bread to the point where I would sneak it. Now even if someone mentions sweets, it doesn't bother me to see them. I will weigh in on day 7 to see if I've lost any weight. I have also cut down on my carb intake and can't finish all of my food. This medicine has made a big difference for me so far. I don't crave food anymore. I will post again after week 2. Hopefully this keeps working.Read More Read Less

Dr. prescribed this for me when I told her I wished Phen Phen was still available. Before I started taking it I read the reviews here and was quite scared when reading the side effects some were having. I am very happy to say I took it starting with the one pill a day and worked up to the three week dose with absolutely no bad side effects except for getting a little sleepy after 1-2 hours. I took it with food and made sure I drank plenty of water throughout the day and this may be why I have no side effects. Also the great news is I have lost over 11 lbs with very little effort. I would highly recommend trying this!Read More Read Less

I have been in Contrave since Feb and the 1st 3minths I lost a ton of weight. Now it's coming off slow and I feel my cravings coming back. I'm going to keep going with it a little bit longer. I was 228 and now weigh 184 in Aug.

This medication from the first pill I had gave me all its side effects. I was lucky I didn't leave the house as it started as too many things working in my brain then feeling like a tunnel in my brain and dizziness hallucinations impairment it felt like when a person is going through anesthesia I was in denial as it comes and goes in seconds good I cancelled my meetings and didn't drive I would have got in accident as I really lost my brain I even felt my body is up in the sky I opened my eyes to check I found my self still on the couch I wanted to move my toes to feel that am still on it but the signal to go do the movement didn't happen I mean for many times I felt unable to control my body or do anything am thinking of plus the fact that my brain was over working and I felt tense in my head and noise coming through my head like z and different sounds like burned fuses It was an awful day from 10 to almost 6 pm and headache for the next two days I almost lost my brain I can't really describe everything as sometimes what I had in my thoughts were not what I said it stayed like that comes and goes in seconds which really added my frustration Good I didn't leave the house as I was in denial in the beginning then I started feeling that putting fax in my car will be a big thing as mountain then started feeling tired and vision not focused this made me sit and cancelled my meetings otherwise am sure I would have been at risk and causing risk to othersRead More Read Less

I have been on Contrave since May, and I am down 17 lbs through a lifestyle change, it has cut my cravings off for sodas, and fast foods, and snacking. I don't binge eat or emotional eat any longer. It has helped me make better choices in the foods intake, as well as exercise. I am under supervision from my bariatric MD and a dietician. It is a godsend for me. And the support group on Facebook helps that much more.

I am a 52 year old female. I need/want to lose about 75-80 pounds. I have had minimal success with Weight Watchers and other programs in the past by going off the plan and giving in to cravings. Eating too much, a need to "clean my plate" and cravings for sweets are my major problems. I am a sugar addict. I have been on Contrave for 1 month. I have lost 11 pounds. I had hoped for more, but my doctor was very pleased. I have had little to no side effects. The only side effects have been when I increase the dose, I feel a little loopy for a day or two. No headaches, no stomach pain. With Contrave, I no longer have to clean my place. I am able to make better choices, healthy choices. I no longer "have" to have something sweet everyday. I went to a baby shower and had one cupcake, not several. I have not had ice cream since I started Contrave. I have not had any beer or wine. I am excited to continue on Contrave and hope to reach my goal.Read More Read Less

I just started week 2. The first week, I had very minimal side effects as I have with week 2. I don't feel the need to snack during the day, but seem to be eating my usual portions at meal time. I was having good luck with Belviq before starting Contrave, but had to stop because of the side effects. Hoping with taking a higher dose over the next few weeks, things will improve for me.

Starting into my third week now on this medication. I have never taken a prescribed weight loss treatment and when my Dr mentioned it I was a little skeptical but decided to give it a try anyway. I have to say I am pretty pleased. I dropped 8 lbs in the first week taking the medication with no exercise and did notice that I saw a large improvement in being able to push myself away from the table with ease. I no longer had the extreme hunger and felt fulfilled faster with less. The Dr warned that in week three I might see a little nausea and have to scale back to the week 2 dose and will see how that goes this week. I have noticed an increase in energy and sudden urges to want to go out and exercise something I haven't had the urge to do since my days in the military. I actually am so pleased with it that I mentioned it to one of my coworkers in casual conversation and they had their Dr prescribe it as well and have seen great results too. Read More Read Less

Very bad headache and dizzy shortly after taking this drug. round noon, I feel very very sleepy and confused feeling. I had to nap in the afternoon I was so sleepy. I took it for 2 weeks, thinking the side effects would stop, but when it was time for the 2 in am and 1 in pm. I decided to stop couldn't live with the side effects. Hope my dr. can give me something else to control cravings.

I took this medication for almost two weeks and I had to stop. The first few days I only noticed mild nausea, minor headache and a little sleepy about 1-2 hours after taking the pill. After 1 week when I was supposed to increase the dose I started feeling extreme fatigue, nausea, it was very difficult to concentrate, and I started experiencing horrible headaches that lasted for days. I decided to not increase the dose just yet and see if my body could get used to the drug and have the side affects subside some before increasing. They never did, they just got worse. I did not take any pills yesterday and I am still exhausted and hazy today. I was really excited about this medication, I used Qysmia 2 years ago and lost 45 pounds in 6 weeks. I have never gained any back but have not been able to lose any since then. I thought I'd try the Contrave due to not being eligible for the coupons for Qysmia anymore but this drug is entirely different and I spent the last 2 weeks being miserable and didn't lose ANY weight. I have been taking this med for 6 months. I have lost about 30 pounds. It seems like the longer I'm on it,the better it works. I am only hungry when it is time for a meal, and then, I'm full after a reasonable amount of food. Rarely finishing a plate. I had severe constipation almost immediately, and still cope with that. I have noticed that I am losing my hair! I realized it a couple of months ago,but it is so bad now, I almost have a complete bald spot on the crown off my head. I would estimate at least a 60% loss. I did some investigating, and though "rare", hair loss is a side effect. I am weaning of of it now. Had I not experienced the hair loss,I would have continued to take it. And,no,the hair loss is not from hormones, I have had no ovaries for 10 years. There is no other factor it could be. When looking up alopecia caused from medication, did say out takes 4-6 months to notice. ?? And, it should grow back. Read More Read Less

I was previously on Belviq which did not work for me (gained weight). I have been taking Contrave now for 2.5 weeks and have lost 6 lbs. The side affects I had in the 1st week were headache, nausea, stomach pains and diarrhea which were manageable. Contrave has lessened my appetite and helped with food cravings. My goal is to lose 60 lbs.
