Today I have been taking Contrave for 30 days. I am 5'7" & was 188 lbs. when I began.  In 30 days I lost 10 lbs. virtually effortlessly.  10 lbs. is not a lot of weight, and I have 33 more lbs. to loose to get to a healthy weight, but considering I sit at a desk all day & study at a desk all evening & never exercise I am thrilled.  The first 2 days I took the medication I felt a little "disconnect...

I took Contrave for 3 weeks following directions. After a few days, I started to feel dryness in my mouth which followed by constant strong bitter taste. I decided to stick to it, but by the end of week three late at night I suddenly started to feel a sharp pain in my lower back which quickly started to spread out up my body. I felt a sharp pain in my chest & back, tightness in my chest and shortn...

I have started on this per my M.D."s advice for weight loss. I am glad to say I have not experienced any side effects. I started at 228 and am down to 209. I will continue until I reach my goal weight.

I started up with Contrave again because I gained weight from taking Prednisone. In three weeks I lost 15 pounds, but I was very determined and doing well with about 600 calories a day. I don't know if it was contrave or the 100+ degree heat but I felt very weak on the golf course and played poorly. I really want to lose 15 more but think I will stick to 2 pills/day because I've been losing weight with that, and then my pill$ will last longer.

Despite the mixed reviews I read about Contrave, I decided to give it a try as per my doctor's recommendation. I took the first dose this morning, and I will not be continuing with this medication. Never in my life have I experienced such horrible side effects. Within an hour I was feeling increasingly nauseous and light-headed. As the day went on, I had to leave work as the side effects kept getting worse. I was dizzy, had a headache, had stomach pain, was so nauseous I ended up vomiting, had diarrhea, and it's hard to explain but I felt very strange almost as if I were drunk. I spent the afternoon sleeping on and off, it's now 9pm and I'm just now starting to feel better and I can eat a light meal (I took it at 9:30am). I have tried a lot of different medications in my life and have never had such sever side effects like I did with this medication. I recommend starting it on a day where you don't have any plans in case you end up I the same circumstances I did - there's no way I would've been able to leave my apartment, let alone drive anywhere if I had any existing plans. No wonder people lose weight on this drug if you're too nauseous to eat/drink anything. Read More Read Less

I have lost 55 lbs, couldn’t have been easier, I stuck with a lazy keto and 1500-1800 calorie diet limiting carbs 20-30 carbs a day, the weight fell off, I feel great and look even better!! Thank you Contrave!!

Stay away from this medication!!! I took one pill and have been sick for one week and still cannot eat. One tiny pill...30 minutes later I had the worst abdominal pain I have ever had in my life (worst than childbirth), uncontrollable sweating, non-stop diarrhea, puking, nausea, headache, back pain, dizziness, felt like I was going to pass out, racing heart, chest pains, and elevated blood pressure. I was sure I was knocking on death's door. I dream about the day that I can eat and play with my two-year-old daughter again. The gut-wrenching pain after I eat something simple like applesauce, toast, or saltine crackers is horrible. Read More Read Less

This did absolutely nothing to help with cravings or give you energy. I felt like it was a scam. The “doctor” called me late (way after the scheduled phone appointment). He asks about 3 questions about health issues and never goes over the medication. He says all the instructions and side effects will arrive with the bottle of pills. I do not recommend.

Im beginning my 4th week and am taking as prescribed. Tomorrow I start the 2am and 2pm pills. Havent really noticed any side affects. !m 58 years old, 5'9 and started at 283lbs. Im now around 270lbs. Im trying to walk about 2 miles per day and have seen my food intake/cravings drop immensely. One of biggest problems is that my wife is wonderful cook and I ate big portions. Hoping to keep dropping the weight.

The first week or so when I started May 5th I was super tired. I was still hungry and I had slight headaches. I did not feel like the medicine really starts to work until week 3-4. I took as prescribed slowly titrating. I am going on week 5 and I have lost around 12lbs. I still have craving though. I just tough through them. I don't eat as much, so that part is accurate. Also you CANNOT take this medication with any vitamins or supplements, well at least I couldn't. I got so violently ill when I took Contrave and one of my diet supplements. Never did that again, but I hear you can take them hours apart. Aside from how slow the medicine works and the fact you cannot drink on them, I would say I had a good experience so far. I am going to trial it for one more month and see what happens. If I don't feel its working good enough, I am going back to Adipex, which honestly I prefer anyway, you just cant take it long term like this medication. Read More Read Less

I am on week 6 and have had very few side effects. I am focusing on lower fat diet and keeping my calories between 1500 and 1800 ( I have a very active lifestyle) I have lost 25 pounds so far and have been very happy with the results. My recommendations are; drink lots of water and keep on top of the constipation. I occasionally get nauseous if I wait too long between eating.

I'm starting my fifth week on Contrave and so far, I've had a positive experience. I've been at the full dose for a week. I found that each time I increased the dose, I would feel a little nausea on that day and dry mouth the next day, but after the second day I had no side effect symptoms. So far, I have lost six pounds. I find that I'm not always hungry anymore. Also, I don't feel like I need to finish my plate, and I'm not looking for a snack in between meals. I exercise 5 days a week (golf, kayaking, walking, or biking). I get my heart rate up, but nothing too strenuous. I did some prep before starting to take Contrave. I stopped drinking alcohol about five days before and I cut back on caffeine. I also drank more water than usual on the days leading up to starting Contrave. Once taking the med, I made sure to have a small bite to eat before taking the pill (toast, granola bar, banana, etc.). And I drink lots of water throughout the day. I hope you find this helpful.Read More Read Less

After one hour of taking Contrave, I felt nauseated and then vomited a few times; no Gravel/Ginger/Pepto Bismo helped. I had to take Zofran (the strongest antinausea meds) to stop vomiting. I had dizziness, lightheaded, feeling drunk (very drunk), and sleepy, so I went to bed at about 7 pm instead of 11 pm like usual. The same happened for the rest of the week. When I increased the dose to 1morning-1 evening, I started having hallucinations at night; (shoot, it scared me out). Also, I started having headaches and intense cravings for alcohol (I drink 2 times a year, Christmas and Birthday, that is in summer), carbs, sweets, and other junk food. So I gained 6 pounds in two weeks. I stopped taking these pills about 4 days ago and still have side effects. So now I am dealing with weird side effects: I have to overeat to stop nausea without a pill after I stopped taking Contrave. OMG, not even sure how long it takes to get Contrave out of my system to feel better. I am glad the pills (70 pills ) were free (Contrave program), but now I am spending most of my money to deal with the side effects :(Read More Read Less

A little nausea the first week, then no side effects. I lost 30 pounds in 6 months. I work out 5 times a week. Cravings are reduced and I fill up quickly at meals. I was 10 pounds away from my goal weight and then I stopped losing. Perhaps with less weight to lose, the pills are less effective I went off Contrave and my cravings came back worse than ever. I’ve started back on Contrave but will try to see if 2 pills a day are effective. I plan to join Weight Watchers to get long term support in keeping off the weight. Read More Read Less

Been taking now for 7 weeks. Taken as prescribed. By 4th week it was taking 2 am and 2 pm. Mild side effects in beginning: loose stool, gas, slight headache/pressure in head. Bit if a higher heart rate and slight elevated BP. Increased my BP med. Side effects when away fairly quick. 7 weeks in and lost 20lbs. Very happy. 6ft 250lbs in beginning and now 230. Clothes fit much better. I don’t exercise and have desk job. My food cravings are gone. The battle to no eat in evenings and overnight is gone. It does take a conscious effort on my part, but it is much easier to eat small amounts. I will either have 3 small meals per day, no snacks and then rotate skipping breakfast with first meal at noon. Keeping to 1500 cals per day and sometimes lower. Had recent constipation and taking stool softener. Can afford Ozempic or Monjaro. Get 3 months thru contrave website for $330. Very pleased!Read More Read Less
