Had it inserted one week ago. I recommend taking max Aleve dosage prior. I only took tylenol (which I think does a poor job). I was incredibly anxious so I held a nurses hand during procedure. Was not comfortable but wasn't the worst I've felt. Measuring the cervix was worse than insertuon for me. Focus on breathing to help your muscles relax. After a minute or two I was able sit up, walk and drive...

I got the Liletta inserted about a month and a half ago. I am seriously considering having it removed. I was on the pill for 2 years and never had a problem except when my provider changed or if I would miss a day. The liletta was the most painful experience I have ever felt physically ( I have lots of piercings and several tattoos) I had always thought I had a high pain tolerance so I went into t...

I got my Liletta iud inserted in 02/2021. The insertion was extremely painful, and I felt really lightheaded for about 10 mins afterward. The cramps afterwards were manageable with OTC medicines and were gone by the next day. For the next 8-9 months straight, I had period bleeding. Here and there I would have one day without spotting for some reason. I couldn’t even tell when I was having my actual period anymore which was concerning. Around month 10, the bleeding started to lessen. However I still have a little spotting every day, and it’s a little easier to tell when I’m on my period. I also now experience worse cramps before my periods. Liletta worked with not getting me pregnant but I’m getting it removed in a few months because the side effects were extreme. After insertion, I had severe cramping and bleeding for over 2 months. Debated on removal but was scared to go through the pain again after the painful insertion. Had no issues with it since except when having intercourse I can feel it when my partner hits it and it is uncomfortable. My hormonal acne has been better since having it inserted.

I suffered from severe allergic reactions for 2 years after getting this iud after I gave birth to my first born. It took along time to pin point it to my iud. I now suffer from severe allergic reactions from everything. The iud has permanently damaged my body. It gave me anaphylaxis, anjiodimia, and drug reactions on my skin and after the removal of the iud i still suffer from allergic reactions to my own progesterone now

I won’t lie…I hate Liletta. The insertion literally had me in tears! The cramps after had me in tears! I bled for what felt like forever after the insertion. My period is finally beginning to regulate, but leading up to it I feel crappy. I’ve always gotten headaches, but now my back hurts, I’m nauseous and my poor nipples are tender as hell! Don’t get me started on the BV! AND the strings poke my partner but the doctor claims that’s fine??. 10/10 would not recommend! This is ghetto!

I hate Liletta!!! I have never written a review like this ever, but I had the Mirena for years with no problems. I got a new OBGYN and she suggested getting a Liletta and it has been legit the worst!!!! With the Mirena, my periods still came like clockwork, but very light periods—maybe 3-4 days max. With Liletta, I have had it in for two years now and my periods usually last about 11 or 12 days and my cycle varies anywhere from 18 to 40 days. It is a nightmare!! I hate it so much. If you’ve had success with Mirena, stick with it. Liletta is the worst!!!!!Read More Read Less

I went on this IUD to treat my heavy flow and for contraceptive purposes. It does its job, but I get nauseous really easily on this IUD. To be fair, the minipill gave me the same side effect, so I think that’s just how my body reacts to progestin. Despite the nausea, this IUD doesn’t give me any mood swings, so I can tolerate it.

I’m 26 years old. I had the Liletta placed in 2018. The procedure was very painful even with the medication I was provided to widen my cervix. Just before, I was having continuous migraines (24/7) after I was put on a different pill version of birth control. I was advised the Liletta would be a good option to balance out my hormones to assist with my migraines. After the IUD was placed, I bled for a month straight. My migraines continued without change. I was diagnosed with chronic migraines and took a shot once a month to be migraine free the entire time I was on this IUD. I had light, inconsistent periods the first year and a half, then little to no periods the last year and a half. This was convenient. However, my acne proceeded to get worse over time. I had the IUD removed the end of 2021 to try to start family planning. I bled for almost 3 weeks post removal. I ended up in the ER a month after removal with severe pain, and I found out I had cysts on one of my ovaries. This was never an issue before my IUD. I have had many issues months later that I firmly believe is a result of being on this IUD. I have had extremely irregular periods. The one positive after having it removed is that I no longer have migraines and don’t need to take a shot once a month anymore to live a normal life. Please read all of the side effects before committing to this IUD or any IUD for that matter. I won’t be getting an IUD ever again. This IUD has caused severe issues in my body. It’s not worth it. Listen to your body and do what you can without adding new birth control.Read More Read Less

First day I got Liletta inserted it was extremely uncomfortable small amount of pain. That night I was extremely crampy just wanted to curl up in a ball all night. The cramping went away but I ended noticing my hair falling out in big clumps, my digestive system got all messed up . I'VE had this birth control for 6 months now I thought maybe I just needed to get use to the hormone change but every month I seem to notice something else unusual happening. Right before my period happens now my boobs get really sore and puffy everything I eat makes me bloated and gasy. I feel like I'm gaining weight faster then normal. I decided to make an appointment to get it removed Read More Read Less

Please ladies NEVER get a hormonal IUD. Beyond the extremely painful insertion (which left me bed-ridden for 5 hours) the side effects I have experienced have made these past 6 months the worst of my life. I was on Accutane as a teenager and after that I never had a pimple again UNTIL I got this IUD. Now, I have cystic acne covering my entire face. I'm religious about my skincare routine, but nothing works. Beyond the acne, I bled PAINFULLY for 3 weeks out of the month with the device in. When I tried to have a healthcare professional remove the device, they couldn't fit me in for months. I had the option to live with the pain and humiliation or take matters into my own hands. I wound up having my partner remove the device for me at home. The removal was completely painless, but the acne never went away. Don't ruin your skin. Don't get this device. Read More Read Less

I love this thing and actually often forget I even have it. It's completely eliminated my period, and I've only had breakthrough spotting for a few hours on less than a handful of occasions. I was hesitant to use this, as other hormonal birth controls really affected my mental health. However, this has not. The only negative side effects is that I do get random acne spots more frequently.

This review is just on the insertion process, I got mine today and it was so painful, 5 minutes of agony. I took Tylenol about 30 minutes before my appointment and I was still in a lot of pain. I'm about 3 hours post insertion, I am cramping and have very minimal bleeding.

I had liletta in for two years and just got it removed last week. The first five months were fine besides random cramping and pain from the insertion. I had noticed that my mood swings had gotten worse but it was something that was still worth dealing with. It wasn’t until the year and a half mark I started to get acne. I always had great skin and only ever dealt with the one random breakout before my period but this was different. My quality of life due to my skin declined fast and I became depressed and anxious the longer I had the IUD in. It’s been two weeks since I got my IUD removed and went back on the pill and my quality of life and skin has already improved. I’m hoping my acne heals as now I have a ton of scarring. Of course everyone’s experience with birth control is vastly different but acne is a side effect and something you should consider before getting an IUD. Read More Read Less

Pros: I'm not pregnant. cons: I have gained 40 lbs in the year that I've had it. My anxiety is ridiculous and I am having crazy mood swings. One second I am fine and I just snap angrily at someone. Other times I'll cry at a commercial or something stupid. I have never been this person. I also have periods that are progressively getting worse. At first I bled, but then it stopped. Now, each month I am spotting more and more and last month I actually needed a pad all day. Don't even get me started on the cramping or the stupid cystic acne! Ugggg. Note: I had Mirena for 6 years. I got it replaced at Planned Parenthood. They didn't tell me they didn't use Mirena until they were already doing the procedure. I went along with it because they assured me it was identical. I never had periods or period cramps on Mirena. I legit forgot having periods was a thing.... I never had cystic acne. or breakouts on my shoulders. I was in control of my emotions and my weight was going DOWN on Mirena. I have already reached out to the doctor to have Liletta removed and replaced with Mirena. I attributed my symptoms to stress initially, but the more I've looked into it, the more I realize I am not alone!Read More Read Less

I had two Mirena implants and never had a single problem, but this Liletta has been nothing but problems. I cramp and bleed for days any time I have sex. I went back to the doctor because I was concerned that it had perforated my uterus. (She told me it's normal to cramp and bleed after sex, but I'm 45 years old and have never had that happen before.) I recently had the first period I have had in 11 years. And today I started bleeding again. I have started having cramps, backaches, and raging mood swings. As much as I enjoy all of the above, I'm going to ask my doctor to remove it and put another Mirena in.Read More Read Less

I've had it on for 2 years now. Only recently have I started to get odd cramps and little aching pains like PMS. Nothing horrible. I would recommend it.

This is my second iud insertion. I had my first one for six years, and now I’m on my second one. The doctor visit for my second one was horrible. The removal was easy, but the measurement of my uterus was very painful. That same day I took ibuprofen 800, and a nap with my heating pad. I had bleeding for about three days. Overall I love my iud.

I had this IUD inserted in January on the third day of my menstrual cycle. I’ve had very light periods that lasted about a little over a week but I only had to wear pantyliners instead of pads due to me period being so light. I’ve also experienced mild cramps, leg cramps and headaches. I’ve also experienced mood swings. These side effects are very mild. I’ve now had the IUD for about 4 months now and I don’t have any complaints. During the insertion process is was a little discomfort but I returned to work after having the IUD placed. I’m really glad that I chose this long term birth control method because I’m not interested in having any children right now. I would definitely suggest this birth control if your looking for something long term but reversible. Read More Read Less

Had this for about a couple weeks already first time using an IUD I’ve always used pills but the insertion was good the after care was good and my periods are very light but I’m starting to feel like my mood swings are changing every second I feel happy one moment and the next I’m mad? No other side affects yet, that’s all I’ve experienced since I’ve had this inserted it’s been great otherwise

I was on the Liletta for 2 years to help regulate my menstrual, and it was worse before it was inserted. My cramps felt like contractions. My left thigh hurts every time I have my menstrual. The Liletta never slowed down my menstrual at all.Worst decision of my life.I finally have a doctor to perform a Endometrial Ablation onme, only to find out my IUD came out of me.
