Most of my life, I've had a severe problem with excessive daytime sleepiness. I complained to doctors about fatigue just to hear them say that I'm depressed or I need to exercise more. My 1st sleep study was about 20 yrs ago and was told it was "a sleep apnea". The drug prescribed had one side effect, cariovascular disease. So, then I had high cholesteral and the drug was taken off the market. I'v...

I have narcolepsy. Have been taking Provigil/Modafinil for many years with good results. Recently the pill has changed and about 2 weeks after taking it, I started to get sick and taking the pill was like taking a placebo. I began feeling drugged, nauseated, disorientated, dizzy, agitated, fatigued and had to go to bed because I could not function. I stopped taking the drug. I began reading the att...

The meds worked the first few days, and then back to the sleepiness, and I thought moreso. I tried doubling the dosage, taking at different times of the day, but nothing worked. With the price of the medication, I chose to stop taking it. I did not like the way it made me feel, and it did not help my condition

I began Modafinil four months ago. Since then, I have been confused, unable to focus, daily headaches, overwhelming exhaustion, yawning constantly, out of breath easily.. a complete wreck and unable to function in society. It didn't work for me, but it may work for someone else. Good luck.

I had been taking the brand name provigil for awhile. It worked very well for me. Then I was forced to use this generic modafinil because of the cost. I am literally crawling the walls with anxiety. This has been going on since day 1 of use(approx.4 months). The Insurance Co. will not cover the brand name(again the cost). Is this happening to anyone else? After reading some of these reviews and others there seems to be an apparent problem with modafinil. So in the meantime I suffer daily when I take this. When I don't take it I sleep & sleep. Any info would surely be appreciated. Who do I contact? Read More Read Less

I need to stop taking this med due to bad feeling of repeatedly yawning trying to get a deep breath over and over along with terrible headaches. This all happens after I take 200mg pill. Unsure of what this med is doing to my body or heart. In the past I took the name brand Provigil with no side effects but I was younger maybe healthier?who knows .....anyhow better to be safe even though I have no wakeful life at all.

I just recently started taking Modafinil and overall it has been great. I have Sleep Apnea and I am always exhausted. It works well when you need to focus on something, but multitasking can be difficult. So far 200 mg seems to be too much because I have a hard time falling asleep at night. I just dialed it back to 100 mg so we will see. One suggestion though; DO NOT drink alcohol when using! It is just a bad idea.

I've suffered from Depression for 20 years. Tried every anti-depressant on the market and nothing has worked until i was prescibed Modafinil. It has changed my life. I can now function and get out of bed in the morning.I'm free of depression and just wish I'd known about this drug earlier.

I was first introduced to this medication in 2005 and it changed my life. wont go through all my probs, but like most of you I couldnt live a normal life. Thus no insurance. anyway there are if cephalon cares does not cover several parmaceutical advocates that will get medicine for low monthly fee. Main reason I got on this sight is , I could not wait for generic to come out. but now that it has and i started taking it, it seemed to not do as well. of course that took awhile to notice, as most of you know it takes a few days - week and boom you crash. I get my meds through advocacy so i get 90 days at a time. It might be this generic has short shelf life or maybe severe temperature and light sensitivity, either way it just doesnt seem the same. wonderin if I am nuts or there is something different about the generic.Good luck everyone and thank you Cephalon.Read More Read Less

I started taking this med about a year a ago and I am now taking 2 pills of 200mg each day. I have been told that I have narcolepsy and this is the only med that has worked for me.

This medication made me have such vivid dreams/nightmares that I could not tell upon waking if it was a dream/nightmare or a reality. The horrible nightmares were so vivid. I rarely had nightmares before so this was a very scary thing. I would wake in the middle of the night & have to check things or even call family/friends to see if they were OK. I honestly could not differentiate between reality & these nightmares.

I have been on Provigil for probably a year and this week I switched to this generic. I haven't seen any other comments regarding this but I have noticed an increase in libido. I have not had a drug that had this effect on me before. I take 1/2 a 200 mg pill 1st thing in the morning which is about 5:30 am and 1/2 around noon. By 10:00 it is all I can think about. It is not too bad when I am working but if I am not distracted, it is almost like a yearning or need. I guess if a drug is going to have a side effec, this one is not too bad.Read More Read Less

I take this medication for chronic fatigue caused by Hep C and Fibromyalgia. I wake up tired and can not even function until Ive had at least a pot of coffee. I fall asleep instantly if I sit longer then 10 minutes no matter where Im at whether it be a restaurant or Doctors office etc. Since I started my pain control it has helped me a lot in that I can get out and exercise now which seems to help with the fatigue. At first I didnt notice any difference in my level of energy when I started the provilgil but what I did notice was if I had to take a long drive it kept me awake. It doesnt give me tons of extra energy but I dont need to nap any more during the day when I take it and I have quit drinking so much coffee in the mornings. I did notice however that I have to take breaks from it for it to remain effective. I now only take it if I have a full day planned and have to go out, otherwise I stay at home and take a nap. I take 200mg in the am and it does not interfere at all with my sleep at night. I was thinking about asking my Dr. to give me another 200mg for the afternoon but because I have Hep C I worry about the effects on my liver especially because the other meds I take are so damaging. I have not had any side effects from it at all. Today I was given the generic form (Modafinil) for the first time and I hope it is the same. I hear many complaints of how expensive it is and I know a 30 day supply is over $600.00 but luckily I have good insurance and paid roughly $20.00 for Provigil and $5.00 for the generic. I would definitely recommend anyone with a fatigue problem try this. Its better then caffeine with no jitters or feelings of anxiety. Read More Read Less
