I was on Butrans Transdermal patch (also buprenorphine) but they were sweating off in the TX summer heat so I was switched to BELBUCA. I like it. It's a small square"film" that sticks to the inside of your cheek and dissolves within 30 minutes. I do that every 12 hours. It is simple and this medication works great. I highly recommend it! It is the one and only pain medicine I take. I have DDD i...

This Medicine is a little square that you put in your mouth against your check to fully dissolve, which can take anywhere from 15-30 min. During that time I try not to talk much, and you can't eat nor drink. It has a minty taste. It comes in an foil pouch that you need to cut open with sizzors and then gently pull a part to find the much smaller square. Pros: I like that it controls my neuropathy and a good part of my other pains. Too higha dose will really make me lightheaded, but I'm happy with the pain control. Cons: The little square has caused me some issues. While it is easy to use by putting the square against your inner cheek, I have had the film get stuck on my teeth, fall off the cheek and just get into a mess of a ball or roll up in a tube shape (and all this while I'm not talking, moving my tongue or anything), to the point where I end up swallowing the mess of a square. In trying to open them envelope, I have never been able to rip it open withy hands so I use sizzors. Then I gently pull the envelope open to find the square only to have it fly out of the envelope - then I'm hunting for it. Then pouch is about 10 times bigger than the square. I wish the squares were in the pill pocket type holder which would be easier to open and you see what your looking for. I understand that having the medicine dissolve in your mouth is better than having it go through the stomach but I don't see the advantage when it rolls itself up or becomes a totally sticky mess in my teeth. Good medicine but questionable delivery. Read More Read Less

Severe chronic pain. Waiting for the electrical spinal stimulated surgeries to reduce pain. I've taken oxymoron for 20+ years & now I'm nearly immune to it. Belongs is not as strong as promoted, but hopefully it will build up in my system to become more effective. It's illogical to use an opioid pain med & then advertise it as non-addictive. To me, having been disabled for years, this is just the latest trend that doctors are so prone to follow in prescribing. It's no better than other opioid & expensive. Read More Read Less

This was the most effective pain reliever I've ever taken however the side effects were unbearable. The first couple of weeks it made me really nauseas but worked really well for my pain. I especially liked the fact that my pain was minimal when I woke in the morning when my pain is usually the worst. The worst side effect was that it made me uninterested in anything such as socializing. It kept me tired of without motivation. It didn't make me high at all. My cousin had been on it in the past and said that it didn't help his pain at all but I think that he doesn't like it because it didn't make him high and perhaps that is the reason for some negative reviews. I think that it would be good for those who are debilitated that don't need to be active. Read More Read Less

I have been taking bellbuca for a year now and I find that it's very easy to use but it does not work very well it works very little for me this side effects are extremely crazy I am working on getting this medicine changed now because it says that you are to take this medicine if pills did not work I never had the chance to take pills this was given to me before other medicines were tried it's a shame that doctors will not give you the medicine that you need for your pain because of our government they are scaredRead More Read Less

The first dose I felt totally wasted and drunk within 40minutes. It was alarming to stagger around. The pharmacist told me to never cut it in half and the prescriber told me to cut it in half, I did not take another dose. The side effects were terrible. The literature states that this should be prescribed after trying immediate release opioid tablets first but for some unknown reason the pain clinic went straight to this from nothing. They refused any other pain relief. I had to turn to my personal physician. I do not like this medicine and I think pain clinics are useless.Read More Read Less

This isn’t medication, this is for those maybe who hasn’t had 46 surgeries, but bc of all the drug deaths those like us think how are we going to suffer. It’s sad when your doctor feels so bad for you she can’t even tell you the new doctor knows nothing about me, the years I’ve lived in a hospital and coma. The drugs coming over the border, we suffer, 400 a month for a brain block to think your not in pain is a joke when you have enough medal in you, now you barely can think or stand. Maybe for light pain, for those like us, we try to think how are we going to deal, punished for those whom suffer from chronic illness. I can’t see a life ahead. Like I said meds for those who need a small pain relief not those who have a detailed medical file of hell you survived, now trying on a medication you can’t afford or use this crap. This commercial for this med is nothing but a load of crap! How are those who are chronic to live through this pain???? Pray is my only advice, pray God has you because he knows, the only hope you can hold onto Read More Read Less

This medicine allowed me to sit in a chair for the first time in 3yrs without feeling shooting and stabbing pains. I could sit and feel like a normal person again! I take 40mg of hydrocodone a day and 2 150mcg of belbuca a day. I have felt better than I have in years and truly feel this has been a big game changer in how I’m abke to live my life!

Using these films is the biggest and meanest joke my doctor could do to me. Taking away pain pills for these films. Out of the 60 films a month I can get maybe 15 to stick correctly inside my cheek. Otherwise I'm severely in pain without medication when the films won't stick in the cheek or fall out or roll up. No matter what I try. That dose is now wasted. I either have to go without and suffer or use another film and short myself a dose later in the month. Plus my pain doctor has only once increased or adjusted the dose and it hasn't given any pain relief to me. She refuses to increase the dose to even try to give me some pain relief like the instructions on the med sheet in the Belbuca films box.. tell that the pain doctor is supposed to do. But I don't get pain control I need at. The from MCG I'm on right now. Even if I could get the films to work. But this is Good news!! The times I can get the films to work inside my cheek ...they do make my fibromyalgia feel much better! In fact I can have a somewhat normal life from fibromyalgia for between 2 to 4 hours out of a 12 hour single dose! I just feel better I still hurt but I feel so much better and it has awakens my will to keep going on and caring for myself. To get up and take care of my self and my home...That fibromyalgia has tried to take away for decades. But unfortunately it does absolutely little to help the pain. But I can live with that trade off for the Fibromyalgia issues. With any of the severe chronic deep pains I have from the physical damage of certain pains from osteoarthritis and work related injuries and surgeries.Read More Read Less

Lifesaving. While it is clear that this medicine does not work for everyone, it worked wonders for me. Better than high doses of opioids for pain control with no side effects. It did not work the first 48 hours, but after that it built up and worked wonders. Allowed me to taper off Opioids completely with no symptoms or increase in pain over 2 months. Been on Belbuca now for 3 years with better pain management than ever before. Have know 2 others that trialled it, one found the same relief as me, the other did not. Read More Read Less

For 2 months I haven't been able to turn my head to the right due to T2 T3 T4 disc generation and I have spine stimulator installed for my L5 disc that protruded into my nerves within 5 min of putting the strip in my mouth I could turn my head again I still have discomfort but maybe the dose just needs increased . Im happy as I don't feel like I'm high either like other opioids make you feel .

I was on fentanyl 37.5 for over 12 years. My pain doctor moved to Florida and stuck his patients with a brand new doctor. This doctor decided to switch my medication and it really doesn’t work too well for me. I have fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and Hashimoto’s thyroid. I have had 14 surgeries including two back surgeries 4 finger surgeries, carpal tunnel, ulnar nerve and basal cell cancer surgery on my face. This medicine does not work for me and does not stick to the inside of my mouth. I am trying to seek out a better doctor then the one I got stuck with because it’s barely taking the edge off of my pain ??Read More Read Less

Gradually helped relieve back pain to help get my life back as normal. Was a bit weird to put in my mouth at first but you get used to it, and best if don't drink liquids / eat for a bit after putting in. Haven't tried other medications so no comparison with oxy / morphine

I cannot keep this adhered to my cheek. Thus, I don't think I get any of the medicine into my body. It is horrendously expensive also. I was on a similar patch, but had trouble keeping the patch adhered and it gave me horrible rashes. Seems I can't win with this medicine.

First day on I puked my guts up. Next day I tried it again had nausea but no vomiting. I was on 900mg which worked for about 4 hrs. Now on 750 and it allows me to function somewhat but no where near what oxcycodone 10mg & morphine30mg did. I’m going to ask about it at my next appointment. Also the medicine costs over 1000.00! Morphine & oxycodone no more than 20.00!!! And I had been on that combo for at least ten years. With no issues, except I kept testing positive for marijuana. I had to resort to smoking it at 50 yrs old to help alleviate nausea. I think my doctor is reasonable and may allow me to swap back to that. Btw I been on these type of medicines for at least 25 yrs! Never asked for anything stronger. Towards the end of that medication after ten years I felt I needed something for break thru pain. Not necessarily more mg but maybe one extra dose during the day I would function so much better. Read More Read Less

I have several major issues with my back, left leg, and both knees. I’ve had multiple surgeries and will end up with knee replacements eventually and I’ve taken many narcotic pain medications including oxycodone, time release OxyContin, time release morphine for several years now and was on a high dose of gabapentin at the same time as the pain meds. They all worked but my life was not in my control at all. It was all under control of pills that I had to take multiple times a day. Those pills gave me side affects of not being able to sleep that then led to adding sleeping meds and muscle relaxers at night on top of narcotic pain pills and gabapentin. Finally my dr suggested we try this. We started with the 300mg and slowly increased over a few months to the highest dosage of 900mg every 12 hours. It did take a few months to really work well but now that I’ve been on it for over a year it works AMAZINGLY! I have my life back! I can do things with my kids again without being in constant unbearable pain or wondering if I can take another pill yet. I can hunt with my husband again without being down for the count for days following. I can work 8-10 hours a day again and come home to a husband, 4 kids, and 3 large dogs and still be great. No more pain pills, no more gabapentin, no more sleeping pills other than on some occasions I do take melatonin at night if I’ve had too much coffee that day. This medicine does take some time to get really in your system and working at full strength but once you get there it’s just amazing. You learn tricks to the issues some have mentioned like the patch rolling up in your mouth. I wait 10 minutes AFTER having anything like food or drink in my mouth and then place the patch and hold for a few seconds. Then don’t move your tongue over it or move your mouth or talk for about 5 minutes and it will stick and not move. Ince it is fully dissolved, brush your teeth good to prevent any issues there. It will take time but I promise you this stuff works miracles. This medicine gave me my life back! Read More Read Less

This is not a medication that relieve my pain and allows me to move around. I use my hydrocodone meds with this and I feel that work against one another but I use it as the doctor suggests and get no real relief. I think this med is good for people that lie about their pain and don't really have none or can be managed with small amounts of medicine.

Made my teeth hurt and feel weak. Unable to function normally so stayed bedridden to reduce pain. Totally ineffective for my condition but the doctor pushed it. I finally put my foot down and he placed me back on an inexpensive morphine extended release, so I feel somewhat better. The delivery system of this drug is difficult and ridiculous.

Belbuca made my teeth hurt and feel weak. The patch drifts onto the teeth. You cannot move about with the patch in your mouth, because it will roll up and not stick to the buccal area. Pain relief is minimal and short acting, even when the dose was doubled. Horrible, bizarre delivery system and negligible results.
